  1. well said DEEZEE, I know only a hypothetical question but why on earth would you want Trenners to do it within the next 2 years, he is just a pup learning the game. Let him learn and develop from the older guys at the club for anoth 3-4 then bang, go for it. Although Green may be struggling at the moment hes clearly got the runs on the board. Once he realises to go out and attack the footy like the last few years all will be forgotten. He is far too important for us. Grimes as captain?????? Got to be kidding!!!! Would like my captain on the ground for most of the year. Beamer!!! Dropped VC.

Lets just unite and smash the saints this week.

No idea how we will or or how they will go

  2. I agree also with most of this however I'm not sure we should be hanging Green and Davey out to dry the whole team has a lot of ball gazers and only 5 or so players that are willing for the contested ball. They are our best options for right now. Both have been great clubmen and deserve a chance to lead the MFC consider it a retirement present. We are kidding ourselves if we ever thought Green would lead us to a flag! Realistically neither of them will be around when we come good hence the reason Junior, Bruce and Miller were moved on, they were not going to be part of the greater picture. If we had T Skull, Trengove, McKenzie and Chip all getting uninterrupted pre season's and playing from round one we'd have at least 5 wins!

The list is a constantly evolving thing always turning the pieces of the puzzle until the last one fits. Not only are they trying to build a list to win a premiership but also for sustainability and we are in a pretty good position. I think they have already gone down the path of strategic recruiting. Mid fielders have the longest shelf life and that is one area we have great stocks. Add to that another big man and some taller lead up players that can take contested marks around the midfield and we are on our way. We got some good young players last draft and as unfortunate as it is now I believe it will be a great opportunity to blood some more youngsters! No matter how green they are! I think Morton, is perfect trade bait to get another first round pick.

I think you'll probably find that the loss of a few players and the 5 year hole was most likely due to the fact that we had no money, no facilities and no leadership at the top!

I'm like everyone extremely frustrated at our current on field performance and I have seen this for many years. I still think that we are on the right track and am optimistic for the future! Go Dees!

    well said

  3. some of the comments on here are just plain embarressing. Calling someone a pea hearted [censored]. Need to have a look at yourself i reckon Mr James. If these blokes upset you so much you must be an emotional man. Green isnt going great but the footy dept and players obviously think otherwise. Anyway i know this is a vent your spleen for but ffs, if this is your biggest problem in the world right now you must be doing alright.

  4. I had tipped north purely as the big man was out. It really showed where we are at yesterday and our lack of depth. Every club gets injuries it just seems to effect us more due to no depth. Taking Robbie Campbell may well be recruiting cuop of the year. There will continue to be poor games after great games but dont take too much out of beating the crows. As we saw against the Suns, they are not much chop. All i want to see is a bit more fight not just from the skipper and leadership group but the bennels and jettas and other young guys who really are playing for their future in what should be a successful period for the club. We shall wait and see. But am getting sick of waiting!!!!

  5. 2-3 blokes had a dip. Jones who i have become a fan of made some terrible skill errors but he had most of his team mates doing the same. Twice we tried to handball over the top and were intercepted. If we cant do that we are in strife. Big steph battled hard but goldstein was much more effective. Not having the big russian is a much bigger issue than most think.

If we cant beat them with a few out our next month, these forums will be bad but the idiot media will be having a feild day

  6. the thing that gets me a bit stiff in the pants is the confidence he is getting by the week. If we can hold this young group together for 5+ years we could see something similar to brisbane. Massive call yes, but just trying to get through the day.

    Petterd Watts Wonna

    Jurrah Sylvia Gys

maybe only 3 years and this forward line will do good things for us

  7. i said that the cream always rises and today it started to, one good performance is ok but he really did lead from the front today, was super happy with what he gave MFC today

    i could not agree more.

  8. didnt realise maric had so much of it. Beamer was just awesome. I have been a jones doubter but his last few weeks have been great and finally the skipper showed just why he is the skipper....passion. All round a great day for the club. Lets hope we can back it up next week

  9. I'll second that. Bit funny how it's all happened.

Ill 3rd that. Give the poor [censored] a break(not at casey). Sometimes makes me feel embarressed to be a dees supporter. Othe rthan Beamer and maybe jones, even the jack are giving a bit, all others have been pretty poor. Im as [censored]*& off as anyone else. At a time when the club needs some support from our ever fickle supporters (you & I) we continually bag them. If Beamer was captain there would be some kind of uproar that someone would come up with. Lets get behind them, rock upo this week and smash so SA feathers.

    again just an opinion

  10. not too sure which game some of you were watching but im not looking forward to taking on either of these sides in the near future. I hate both of these teams with passion however towards the end of the game essendon showed 3 talls may work for them, Bellchambers is improving rapidly, Hille up forward could kick a bag and Ryder hardly touched it which is ominous. The Pies, midfield will smash ours and the 2 big blokes forward are hard for us to match up on other than Chip. Theie midfeild has more depth than the atlantic ocean. Our biggest chance is to play risky football and play on, move it wuickly into our forward line and dont allow amyone to drop back and float accross half back. All in all i think we are a fair way off these 2 sides and as much as i hate to say it the dons are not looking too bad at all.

  11. at the end of the day the club only did it out in the public to save face and to send a message to our young list that any sort of crap wont be tolerated. As for binge drinking it is massively an alcoholism issue. Although not needing beers every day, when getting on the sauce and not being able to stop is a big big issue.

Loosing the VC, well so be it. If he was the captian it would be a much larger issue. Hence why he was the VC.

  12. Rivers was great in the closing stages of the game in particular, but he gets led to the ball by his direct opponent to often for my liking. If a 200cm gorilla is repeatedly leading you to the ball by 5 metres, you're in strife. Still, by the end of the game was one of our best.

its a hard call to let your gorilla lead you to the ball and hope he dooesnt have the skills to take it properly. If you lead a gorrilla to the ball the mids will simply kick it over the back or sit it up to pluck out before the back has a chance. Maybe big Stef could have been given that job.

  13. In soccer it is customary for a player who has given years of service to a particular club not to rub it back in their faces with wild gesticulations when he scores a goal against them in new colours. Not sure if that applies to other sports or AFL football but I think it's a noble and sportsmanlike ideal, especially for players who have been treated very well and handsomely rewarded over the course of their careers.

Bruce's grinning fist pump at the MCC wing was very noticeable yesterday after he snapped a goal during their third quarter run on. Kind of sad for a 200+ game veteran of our club.

not sure why im commenting but surely the way our boys played in the 2nd half is a tad more worrying than an opposition player kicking a goal and enjoying it. regardless of who it is.
