  1. Why bother about the facts when you can just spew vitriole?? Pretty sure we weren't wearing red & blue in 1857 Ralphy. We weren't "The Invincible Whites" because of our red & blue guernsey.
  2. From what I understand the weights are almost exactly as heavy at AAMI as they were at Junction.
  3. I'm going to stand by it. I'm even considering dropping someone else for another Brad Green.
  4. What ludicrous 'logic'. Do the same thing with Aaron Davey. Has he missed 1 week???
  5. The thread sub-title makes it pretty clear, I'd have thought, that this is a hypothetical assuming full list fitness. The game is to identify our full strength team at the current stages of each player's development. As opposed to the hypothetical Rnd 1 2011 or Grand Final team. This is a very difficult game, and it only gets harder if you fast-forward to next year and consider that some young players will have developed to a point where they demand selection. B: Bartram Frawley Garland HB: Grimes Rivers Macdonald C: Scully Moloney Davey HF: Davey Watts Sylvia F: Petterd Jurrah Green R: Jamar Trengove McDonald Int: Bruce McKenzie Bennell Wonaeamirri Emg: Morton Bate Bail
  6. I tend to agree. Our finals hopes also hinge on the performances of the teams currently above us, so it's not just a matter of us winning games. If we are no longer mathematically able to make finals, that would seem like the right time to throw a player like Tapscott who is playing well at Casey in for token games. Although, with Tapscott is there any minimum number of games he has to get to to be eligible for VFL finals?? Or is it a maximum threshold of AFL games that disqualifies players from VFL finals?? My point being I would like to see Tapscott playing VFL finals with the other young kids, great to have those guys playing footy together at any level.
  7. 100% game time??? Nobody, except occasionally a full back, ever plays 100% game time. Especially not midfielders. Trengove has played 82% game time (quite high for a midfielder actually) in his games this year.
  8. You were only quoted as an illustration of the double standard being applied to Maric & Watts. The reason for it isn't a great mystery, there's a lot of people on here who believe the grass is always greener and any high draft pick playing reasonably well at Casey must be a superstar.
  9. You don't just walk into the All Australian/Melbourne lineup.
  10. Quick misconception clear-up: Filling the Veteran's List does not monopolise any rookie list spots. The impact on rookies of having an empty veterans list spot is that you can nominate a rookie at the start of the year to be eligible for senior selection rather than just mid-year.
  11. 2011 AA Team B: Bartam Frawley Garland HB: Grimes Rivers Macdonald C: Scully Moloney Davey HF: Green Watts Dunn F: Wonaeamirri Jurrah Bennell R: Jamar Sylvia Trengove I: Petterd McKenzie Tapscott Bail Emg: Morton Bate Jones
  12. Is this going to be suggested every time we get into a list discussion??? They can't be rookied. They can be delisted. What happens after that is wide open, we have no claim on them. And in Stef Martin's case, we'd be severing his contract which the Club are very loathe to do. As for the 4 spots that frees up, one of them goes to Jordie McKenzie, possibly another to Jake Spencer, leaving us just 2 picks in the draft. It will be very, very interesting to see how many we end up deciding we want.
  13. Junior retiring allows Brad Green to move onto the Veteran's List, thereby opening up a spot on the Senior List.
  14. That's correct.
  15. 6 Sylvia 5 Macdonald 4 Garland 3 Jamar 2 Frawley (Killed Brown again. Who'd have thought, in the last couple of years, we would have the answer to J Brown twice in a year in 2010. Has to be in AA consideration.) 1 Bartram
  16. So Jack Watts' 27 possessions, with 11 contested, at 78% efficiency with 1 of 7 goal assists on the day in a tight game interstate with a wet ball is poor & error-riddled when Addam Maric's 16 touches at 56% in an absolute flogging in perfect conditions on the 'G is a display of ferocity and precision??? That's more than a bit ridiculous. Jack's biggest issue from Saturday night is that he needs to back himself more with the ball, particularly around goals. While he's getting that much of the ball I'd rather he learn to do that at the top level than in the slowed down version at VFL level.
  17. You remember correctly.
  18. Naitanui isn't a snowflake's chance in hell of winning the Rising Star as of right now. The hype died down on him a couple of months ago when everyone realised he doesn't know where to run. That said, if the penny dropped and he ripped apart the last 4 games to pull West Coast off the bottom of the ladder the tide would turn quickly, but I can't imagine that actually happening. Rising Star is 1 Hanneberry 2 Trengove 3 Rockliff.
  19. There is absolutely no way any Leading Teams feedback session actually came down to destructive comments or personal attacks. Having experienced the program myself the truth of this situation is that Jason Akermanis is too immature and conceited to process any negative feedback whatsoever. Over the course of 2 years as he continued to ignore the honest feeback of 45 teammates, I'm sure it would've felt to him like everyone was against him. However, if he had taken on board the feeback and considered the possibility that he isn't infallible it would never have escalated to the point it did.
  20. We've used Leading Teams for 3 years now. It's a fantastic program and it is not a simplistic as having 37 blokes stand around you taking potshots at you. Those feedback sessions are controlled by a Leading Teams moderator who enforces very strictly that they do not just dissolve into potshots and particulary into silliness. It's worth noting that the feedback sessions are designed to not only point out negatives but importantly to reinforce positives and give praise where it is due. It can be just as difficult to give open and honest positive feedback as it can be to give criticism. The young leaders that are emerging in our playing group aren't an accident, they have been built, in part, by this program. Everyone in the club is being encouraged to lead, the leadership group are just the top of the pile.
  21. Newton doesn't count as a delisting. We need to delist 4-5 from the senior list. Rookie listed players are irrelevant.
  22. You guys are totally mental. There is zero sound logic for not making finals. Zero. Question: When Melbourne plays football, do you want them to win? Answer: Yes. If that's not the case, this isn't the forum for you.
  23. It's not for Junior to 'hand over' or the club to dictate. The playing group votes on the captaincy (and leadership group). None of the coach, FD, Board, or anyone else has any say. It's not part of anybody's contract or something that is promised to any player by the club.
  24. Sounds as if he was preparing to play but a decision was made closer to gametime to not play him. Pretty par for the course, particularly for a young bloke I'd have thought.
