It was you who presented the argument that white was the 'colour of surrender' and that is why we shouldn't wear it on a guernsey. To now claim that the very same point doesn't extend immediately below the guernsey to the shorts is laughable and clearly illustrates the absurdity of your argument.

Having been to about 8 out of the last 10 Grand Finals, I find the claims about a 'lack of atmosphere' to be utter nonsense. As for the calls to take the tickets away from the non-competing Clubs who sell them to sponsors & travel agents. The revenue from those tickets is a massive percentage of the yearly income of each Club, so that romantic notion would financially cripple many clubs, very much including our own.

I'm not so much using the white shorts as a rationalisation for why it's OK to have white guernseys, more as a rebuttal for the argument that our uniform must only ever be red & blue, and moreso, the ridiculous assertion that wearing white is negative because it's a 'surrender colour'. As far as my thoughts on the broader issues of wearing a clash guernsey. The key to success in our position with the AFL is to pick our battles. There are vastly more important battles to fight and win than this and creating a nuisance of ourselves over something minor like this will only serve to make life difficult for us in other, more important, areas. If we were one of only 1 or 2 Clubs in the comp being made to suffer with clash guernseys I'd agree it was a worthy battle, but the opposite is true.

Herald Sun are reporting today that Collingwood supporters are making a rush on the guaranteed GF ticket memberships realising that with the scarcity of GF tickets allocated to participating clubs it's more likely than not they'll miss out. Will all you non-MCC MFC members start looking at upgrading your memberships in the coming years to make sure you have guaranteed access to a ticket when we return to the Grand Final or will you just run the gauntlet and hope the cards fall your way with allocations?? Which year will you take the plunge and, effectively, bet on us making the GF??

Well daisycutter, white is either the "colour of surrender" and creating some kind of psychological disadvantage to its wearers or it isn't. You can't have it both ways.

That will surely be the end of his year. Priority #1 would have to be hitting the ground running on Day 1 of pre-season. Perhaps a run around in the China game for a bit of fun if he's fit??

If Miller doesn't play for Casey my pulse will quicken. Been a rumour floating around that Jamar will miss with a foot injury. Miller would be the obvious replacement as a 2nd ruckman.

Oh, and another thing, when we play away games, do you scream and carry on that we're wearing "surrender shorts"?? After all, our theme song doesn't actually refer to just a red & blue jumper, surely it's an absolute outrage that we should have to wear anything white at all.

Have you played any games?? Tell me, in your experience playing in the AFL, with the speed of the game as it is these days, have you ever seen a flash of the same or similar colour out of the corner of your eye and responded to it only to find it was an opposition player and/or umpire?? Or perhaps in all of these games you've watched have you ever seen something of this nature occur???

Naming an extended bench for a Sunday game isn't about foxing the opposition, it's because they still have another training session to get through to determine things such as fitness, form, team balance etc.

It's all about Carlton & Sydney. The other teams aren't relevant provided we win 3/4 games. If we don't win 3/4 games then we can't make it.
