  1. For all the competence at the club off-field managing finances over recent years our problems now are deeper than just being short of brass. How stable and competent is our administration really? Sometimes when things appear to be coming apart at the seams it is just part of a bigger strategy and plan. Sometimes it's just a cluster. I guess we'll know in the near future
  2. I'm all for performance based payment but it cuts both ways...maybe players should hold the club's management accountable for their performance....perhaps they are
  3. Carey had 60 games as a KPP player when he got the captaincy at Norf Voss 79 games before the captaincy.....they started playing AFL as 17year olds Nothing like our situation here Trengove has 32 games
  4. Might be easier for some in this thread to identify who they'd actually keep as they hold forth on trading/ pushing out players like Sylvia. We've gone through the supposed period of bottoming out (not tanking of course as shown by the recent in depth AFL investigation) to be able to gather quality young players....have had to make cuts to experience to fit them in. Now you think we can afford to push a player like Sylvia out....but weep and wring hands for the impact of Juniors departure...Are you completely deranged? Sylvia is a quality player in any side.
  5. Short memories........Bate at five games was being talked of in the same tones.....Doesn't mean he shouldn't go but let's be realistic in our annointment of each new messiah
  6. Having a look through dream team and had confirmed what I think we all knew. We ARE special because we ARE smarter and it's not elitist it is just fact. Supporting evidence... the "club supported" analysis on Dream team. Melbourne Footy Club supporters are holding the highest average...1643 points per game and its not even close. Carlton is second with 1628. Brisbane last at 1544 My link May need you to have a log in? Anyway, as positive as this outcome is, I think some of you blokes need to lift as you are pulling my contribution down!
  7. Fair call... it would certainly be a close contest on any given day
  8. Are you tripping? I have no love for CFC and would have preferred Fevola stayed there and ensured they never tasted any further success but how did they let him down. Trading him after his 5th last warning ....? what an ass
  9. My young bloke reckons tonight "...is just like the olden days..." 2006 in his case. The roar with each goal, the singing and the elation.....it has been a while but I'm looking forward to my first opportunity to watch the Dees win a flag....with my son. We've got years of good times in front of us
  10. What a clown...he shits me to tears.....I loved watching him being owned tonight.. Wooo Hoo
  11. No doubt... Bate was sensational... all those advising he was working into match fitness/ form were spot on....looked fantastic and really gave us some spine through CHF
  12. I went to the G tonight with trepidation. How long can a young team hold up... when will the big collapse come. My 2 kids had a kick on the ground as part of the " I kicked a goal at the G" promotion. not sure who the young bloke running it was but he did a fantastic job. What a night. Cracking defence, run carry and real purpose in the forward line Handpassing to advantage.... Now I'm blind drunk .....but unlike previous years Im happy .....not trying to anaesthetise myself
  13. Did Richmond breach the salary cap? They could also finish a season with no premiership points!
  14. Sheedy is like an embarrassing and increasingly deranged great uncle. Engages your mates with crap stories no-one wants to hear and is just a bit worse every time you see him.
  15. Interesting line in that article...."Moloney was reported after a crude shepherd on Richmond's Ben Nason, with the young Tiger sporting a chipped tooth after the collision." Chipped tooth ......broken jaw....... Moloney should have no problems given the result with Sylvia but it is the AFL tribunal system!
  16. I'm feeling so much better now..... and unlike recent seasons my post game glow is not 100% alcohol driven. Two in a Row.....Sensational I'm sure there'll be flat weeks and it was Only Richmond but the dees side today looked like they were playing "grown up" footy.
  17. agree... terrible along with inability to accurately calculate the number of goals required to bridge a 24 point deficit also had this beauty: "Andrew McLeod at 34 just keeps getting better" I've mentioned my unfortunate marital status before (Crows supporter although she will take out Dees membership and barrack for us and we've agreed it's best if the children are raised in The MFC faith) but even she wouldn't call Mcleod "..still improving..." get her off
  18. Is Malthouse: i) Close to getting it right again and building on his past success at the Eagles ii) A gobby loon who should pack up and [censored] off I don't rate him as a coach. I reckon my bride could've coached the Eagles to success in the period Mick went OK (and she is a Crows supporter so obviously knows nothing about Footy.) Not sure there'd be enough room for the egos down at Collingwood when you have Mick, Eddie and NB, be full a time job bringing the Figs in. Anyway it was a treat to see Malthouse arc up at the saints at half time....then see the Pies fall over and lose it... and see Mick try to say he never said anything. reminded me of Fawlty Towers. "He was looking at me and talking to you"
  19. Oops...It was Pears on the wing and he was tackled by Yarran rather than Betts
  20. He was slow when he was fit. Apparently did his back tonight. Is still a few short of 100 games and not the type likely to play 200 IMO
  21. Average footballer when the MFC midfield was providing excellent control.... And a complete Dill as a bloke while playing and obviously since retiring Only part of him I miss is his Mo.... not enough of that left in Aussie sport
  22. Tonight I've seen decisions which are making me wonder if I could umpire a junior footy match. Essendon Player (not sure who) on the wing, unaware of his surrounds plays on , drops it like a hot spud when tackled (by Betts I think)......play on Then Lonergan into the open goal.... These combined with the normal random nature of "prior opportunity" make me wonder what players are advised to do...secure the ball? or just let it go Any insight
