  1. Got no time for Melbourne supporting MCC members who give nothing to MFC

To be fair, if your turn to take up MCC full membership comes, and you're short of coin, then you'd have to prioritise MCC over MFC because it gives you access to so much more. As long as when you DO have coin again, you cough up for both.

  2. Pretty sure there is a morgue in the Southern Stand. I had the unfortunate experience of watching a lady have a heart attack at a Melbourne/Geelong game once. Pretty sure there's a facility to cater for this situation.

  3. I was semi-surprised when the 50 was paid. Couldn't believe it when I heard it was worthy of 2 games.

    Sanity prevails IMO.

Totally agree. Would have been bad for the game if that justified 2 weeks.

Let's beat their strongest available team and forget about getting their players suspended.

  4. Oh dear. I can't believe I'm going to get sucked into this again but here I go...

There are clashes. Your eyes may be good but the game is for everyone, not just you and your 20-20 vision.

Brad Miller tackled Matthew Whelan against Carlton. If wearing a clash jumper prevents that from happening, then good!

White is not "the jumper of surrender". Geelong and Real Madrid seem to do ok wearing predominantly white jumpers. Fulham made the Europa finals last year and then DIDN'T wear white - and lost!

Nobody is arguing the AFL is totally consistent.

    Finally...

Winning is more important than what we wear doing it.

  5. The topic is the "white stripe".

Interestingly and without my initiating it, some friends of mine (Richmond, St.Kilda and Hawthorn)have been discussing the same topic on Facebook.

Even more interesting is their mutual dislike of an "away" stripe - especially those, who like ours are a radical departure and feature a lot of WHITE.

Our jumper doesn't have a stripe.

  6. At 12:42 seconds to go in the final quarter Aaron Davey sent a bullet like pass to Jack Watts that hit him on the chest but he fumbled it. His Brisbane opponent barreled into his back but no decision. Play in.

I reckon a goal at that time would have snuffed out the Brisbane revival IMO.

Didn't look as though there was a problem with that one actually. I'm a Watts fan and even I admit he just dropped it.

  7. There is no way that making finals can possibly be considered a bad thing. It's only the attitude we have in the off season which can be negative. If we make it, and I'm not yet convinced we will, we must remind players that we're not here to finish 8th. We want to be first. We just need to have good heads around to remind people that until we hold up the cup, there is still work to be done.

  8. And, really impressed to see his attitude as expressed in the article about him on the MFC website this morning:

"JOEL Macdonald says he took greater delight from winning on the road, as opposed to the Demons beating his former side"

Good attitude. Was filthy on himself when Proud got that mark.

He got votes from the Sunday Footy Show team.

  9. THAT EMBLEM SHOULD BE DELETED

As much as I am interested in seeing it, NO Melbourne supporter would want to detract from a club initiative that might generate good publicity etc.

Let the club have its moment in the sun FFS.

And I love the fact its your second post and you signed up specifically just to show how smart you are. I personally wish you would **** off.

Agreed. Moderators, please protect our club's Intellectual Property!

  10. ... I am assuming that cos they wore their away jumpers Saturday and Adelaide were in their tradition home strips that it must have been the Crows home game.

Or maybe some common sense was used.

You are comparing Apples & Oranges.

This is a situation where if Hawthorn chose to wear their home (brown & gold) jumper, then Adelaide has a white clash alternative it could use. If Hawthorn wears its brown & white jumper, then Adelaide does not need to change. It is the home team's choice.

If Melbourne chooses to wear its home red and blue jumper, Essendon does not have a suitable alternative. Same as if St.Kilda wore it's traditional predominantly black jumper.

I agree that the AFL went soft on Essendon when it put forward its alternatives. If St.Kilda chose to whear their white jumper that day, that is fine, but clubs should not be forced to do so. If common "sense" means forcing one club to change for its home games, while not forcing another club to provide a suitable alterntative at all, then it's not very sensible.

    Bob

  11. Can you be specific and tell me what teams we clash with. I have posed the question now 3 times. The AFL have identified 7 teams. Care to guess? All of which. coul;d be avoided be wearing an ALL RED JUMPER. We have all missed the point i think. This is not about whetehr we should or should not have a clash strip, but rather why it needs to be WHITE!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi Redleg

I think the person who started this thread, I think his name is Redleg_24, he answers your question that you have posed 3 times. He said that "But please don't let us roll out in that white strip ever again unless it is absolutely necessary. Only time i see that it is necessary is perhaps against the Lions. That is it!"

So, Redleg, to answer your question, Redleg thinks (and I agree with him) that there IS a team where a clash would NOT be avoided by wearing an all-red jumper. That team is Brisbane.

    Cheers!

    Bob.

  12. Have you ever seen any team play in white and dominate? It's such a woozy, nothing "colour".

    Australia's test cricket team?

But seriously - Collingwood and North Melbourne have won flags in predominantly white.

  13. It's been done to death but there is a clash with Carlton. Brad Miller tackled Matt Whelan during a carlton game once.

There is a clash with Essendon, as evidenced by the Walsh-to-Hird handball discussed earlier.

If we wear something which avoids these issues, while we are the away team, why wouldn't you be ok with it? If rigidly sticking with tradition costs us a win, and thereby a finals berth or even a flag, we'll all be on here demanding clash jumpers.

If it was a purely marketing exercise we'd have home and away guernseys.

  14. Did he touch the ball in the last quarter? I only had radio and I don't think I heard his name mentioned once. Not that I would blame him in those conditions given that he still lacks a little fitness. Still, he seems to have had a hell of a game. Two goals and a bunch of assists.

I watched only the last quarter and saw a bit from Watts. Somew good pressure to force a throw in at one point. Also some good handballs.

  15. I started this thread and think it's become a little misguided. I agree with Ash about the Essendon debacle - blame the AFL for approving it.

Our views about the MFC away jumper do not answer my original question of whether the AFL required St.Kilda to wear the predominantly white jumper despite being the home team. I think (and Ash, Grinter, and the majority here agree) that the home team should not be the one to change.

  16. I should point out that I'm not at all concerned that we wear the away jumper at away games. If Ash35 is right and it's a St.Kilda decision, I'm fine with that too. I was just curious as to whether it was an AFL call. From what it seems, there was no official decision and it was St.Kilda's call.

As long as the AFL does not tell home teams to change, that's fine by me.
