  1. I picked it 7 years ago when i thought we would at least be contesting in the finals by now. Looks a bit stupid now in light of what i just posted i know !
  2. Was going to start a new thread about Paul Roos and the players but it can go here... After years of putting up with cr@p no more - get stuffed Melbourne After years of false promise, false dawns that’s it, no more There is a reason why this club still has no respect from the football world. There is a reason why this club has been constantly pitied and laughed at by other clubs. There is a reason why this club is near the bottom of membership numbers There is a reason why we’re viewed as irrelevant by the general public. Supporters and members have put up with gutless,, passionless, stupid incompetent players for too long. Not many are prepared to do the hard stuff when things are tough. When any side gets a run on we fall apart worse than a house of cards on a windy day. Most of it is due to pisspoor leadership by senior players. The players, many who have been at the club 4 or 5 plus years or been in AFL for 5 plus years, still have no idea how to execute a game plan, how to run hard and present and still can’t hit a target or kick a goal under limited or no pressure. I’m looking at Garland Lamumba Howe Dunn Dawes And the sad part is – Jones has reverted to bombing it long rather than thinking his way through things , although this could have been due to lack of support running to space by others Also a special mention of Viney – I know his effort can’t be faulted but his disposal and especially goal kicking is getting worse than Jordie McKenzie on his worst day. How is after 1-2 years of a rebuild St Kilda has more passionate and smarter players than Melbourne? How is at that after 8 years of crap we’re still no better than we were in 2007. What is wrong with the club? I know there is hope with some of the players that have come on board in the last couple of years – Kent, Salem, Brayshaw, Hogan etc, but we’ve seen and heard of hope before and too many times before. Paul Roos should also shoulder much of the blame. I know he’s viewed as untouchable around here, and he’s got his get of jail free transition to a new coach plan. Sounds great it theory at a strong club but we’re a long way from than. In addition, he has given the players an out – they’re thinking …well he’s not coaching after next year so what does it matter... If he can’t get his message across why are the same players getting chosen? I would suggest that if his message is not being taken in, then either there should be a significant turnover of players, or Roos hand over to Goodwin in 2016. I’m sure there will be some thinking fine we don’t need you or want you around if you can’t stick through think and thin, but fine, why would you want to put with years of consistent sh*t play I have been a supporter and member my whole life but you know what Melbourne – f**k off
  3. Let me preface this by saying I wasn't at the game tonight (work comittments) so people watching may have seen differently. From my reading of comments now (and previous weeks), it seems players still aren't learning. I mean we've been planning, practicing, training and discussing the new game plan about 6 months now and I would have thought we'd see more improvement than the odd 10 minute glimpse here and there. I know a game plan takes time to learn but jeez i'm getting worried. We've seen other sides with new coaches arrive (not just this year, but in other years) and players have shown some sense of idea of what to do and improve a heap quicker than ours have. I don't know if I can sit through another rebuild, another 2 of years of absolute crap and pity from other supporters and joking from the media. At the end of the year it will have been 6 years or torture (2007-2012) and nothing to show for it. I think there's going to be a few changes at the end of the year where players we don't think would leave will if they don't show improvement - I'm speaking about Sylvia Moloney Garland, Pettard. (yes they're contracted I guess so maybe not). It's probably lucky we can't chop 10 players in a year otherwise a few players would be pretty worried. Are the players just plain dumb?, don't learn? or take instruction or is it confidence? If it's confidence then surely it either the captains/leadership group job to step up and lead and give direction. WTF is going on. You'd hope Neeld is providing them with how do I say this - forthright feedback ! If they're dumb and slow and can't adapt then it's time to move them on, because sure as hell in a few years if Neeld is still coach, he will have to tinker with how we play (it's the nature of the evolving game) and they'll struggle with change again.
  4. Just a random topic to pass the time here. Was just looking at the list of list of all drafted players by MFC since 1986. One thing jumped out at me - we had 5 picks in the top 23, plus another 2 in the 30's, how did that happen? Unfortunately, not one of them really did much. Kowal played over 100 games but that's about it. Norrish and Gilbert get sent to hell in Freo for the first or second year I think? Interesting how times change. Richmond gets slaughtered for wasting 5 top 20 picks in 2004 or 05, but look what happened to us then. I know things were a lot different 20 years ago with a more scientific approach to drafting and all clubs have these hits/misses, everyone a genius with hindsight etc etc but it would have been nice for at least 3 of the picks to do a bit more. Wonder if those picks were part of the reason we were so inconsistent through the late 90's (apart from pretty much our whole forward line being injured for 2-3 years then) Imagine having 7 top 30 picks in a draft now/or last few years!
  5. Hi Long time time first time poster etc. Strongly agree with you here. Very rarely have I been as angry about a performance as the one I saw last night, even through the 07-09 rubbish years. We should be better than that now. I agree with telling the club how you feel and while it may not change things, it will help us as supporters feel better and the club know the anger/passion/frustration/hope we all have. You would hope they know it already but they don't always play like it. Here is a copy of text I emailed the club Dear MFC I was not going to send this email now in the heat of the moment but I changed my mind, my club needs to know how I feel and the passion I feel for this club. I would hope the players, coaches and club hierarchy feel the same way, feel the same passion, because it sure as hell didn't show on the field tonight. I don't want this to be a richmond FC, tear up the membership card rant but I'm angry I have been a supporter of this club for 26 years and have very rarely seen such an incompetent, spineless, pathetic, heartless, gutless passionless performance as the one tonight by this club. Yet again we are flogged in the first quarter - this has been a problem over and over and over, but I keep hearing the same excuses from coach and players. Why are the players not up and about, what is the coach doing/not doing about it? Or are the players just not as good as they think. Yet again we are flogged by a team who finished last last year yet show more heart and desire throughout the whole game. These are the games we should win if we want respect, but yet again we will be viewed as a soft, weak gutless club who disappears when its time to stand up and the pressure is on. We have been a laughing stock of the competition recently and last year gained some respect back but that has all but disappeared in the last 5 weeks. The most frustrating thing tonight and for other games this year is turnover after turnover from players who should be able to hit those targets in the sleep. Eg Cale Morton kicking a ball out on the full, Jack Trengove kicking a ball out on the full, it goes on and on. Why does our leadership group fail time and time again in the tough games. What has happened to Brad Green this year, he is getting to the stage where he's not worth his place in the side based on the last 5 games. Why do we have no speed, and tackling ability in the forward line, why do we let sides rebound the ball with no pressure. I sure hope this is not part of our gameplan, Are we are being left behind constantly by sides who apply more pressure than us over the whole ground? I am sick of hearing all about the players need to play together, they need to develop together and so on. Most supporters understand this and are happy with this if the players are playing their hearts out but it doesn't look like it. Other sides can develop their players quicker than we have done. We have the money now there are no more excuses about resources and development costs. I hope the whole club is hurting and I hope Bailey tears strips of the side behind closed doors and also for once in the media - no more softly softly bullsh1t, they're too young etc. They are highly paid professionals and it's time for a different old school approach. It's time for them to be told some harsh truths. It's also time for Bailey to cop some heat as well. It is becoming clear to me that he has lost the players faith and confidence. I hope he and the players turn it around because we should be playing finals this year. I hope the club comes out and says something and I hope the players turn things around because I want this club to win a flag in my lifetime Regards
  6. While I can understand everyone's passion here for tanking, a bit of positivity would be good from time to time. Look at today - the way Jurrah played, the way the backline is continuing to work together, even Jamar had another good game. I've been supporting Melbourne for 25-30 years and I'll celebrate every win we have. I do still hope we can get Scully this year, however there may be 2 things that stand in our way that we can't control even if we send players for surgery and 'rest' half the team and go out to lose. This 2 things are the general crapness of Freemantle and the fact that Richmond are pretty much worse than us this year. Look at the positives - we're still likely to get a top 5 pick this year and who knows what will happen. Players like Jurrah, Watts, Bleese and Strauss (who haven't played at all this year) will have another pre-season of development. I guess I'm an eternal optimist but I don't reckon it's all doom and gloom.
