  1. I am not taking a ‘stab’ at anyone.. but I am just curious why there are so many on this site that don’t like Bruce and say he is crap, should be dropped, should retire already, etc! I understand he is getting older and probably isn’t at his peek, but he has been one of our best players for years! He is still one of our highest disposal getters and is generally pretty solid most games. His efficiency isn’t always as high as it could be, but as Freak says in his ‘Disposal efficiency’ thread.. it is hard to judge this stat sometimes! Having said that Bruce did have a 92% efficiency rate against the dogs! Bruce has been playing in the backline so of course he gets put under pressure when disposing the ball. As I said I know he is getting older and we having some younger boys coming up that we want to make room for.. I am just surprised of the reaction on this site towards him!

  2. i think judd was after the cash.. didnt his mum get a job out of it.. he also got some dodgy deal where he is working for a company that he only has to show up twice a year and gets 250,000 or something mental? (all set up by carlton) ..plus he probably saw all of there early draft picks and thought it would be a better option then us... still dodgy.. but understandable!

  3. Good to know you find it just too hard cooko.

Your a [censored].. i just wrote i am going to the game to support our team.. its not like i am going to be cheering for the opposition when they score a goal.. of course i will still be cheering the dees.. if you get off your high horse you will see i barrack for the same team as you and in the end we both want our team to do well.. i just understand that sometimes you need to sacrifice a little to get big results!

Exactly how I feel. So sick of people saying why do you go for them? they`re [censored]. I really want to get picks 1 and 2 but I would hate to see the dees win 3 or 4 games this year. It will almost be like we have made no progress from last season. It`s eating at me. I can`t just go to a game and sit there hoping for us to stuff things up and lose. It just doesn`t work that way. Imagine Melbourne are down on QB by 100 points come back and win the match by like a kick after the siren I couldn`t just sit there and get angry at the club for not trying to tank, I would be going absolutely mental. We still have 15 rounds to go. This is gonna be a very weird season.

If you don't think we will cop crap for winning your mistaken. After we beat Carlton I copped a heap of crap for our clubs stupidity in winning the same will happen again if we overachieve the last thing the club should want to do is overachieve and become a Freo or Richmond. I would rather have picks 1&2 than have false hope like Richmond had at the start of this year.

both of you completely hit the 'nail on the head'! i completely agree

  4. You idiot. That's my thought.

Am I the only one who won't be disappointed if we win tomorrow?

I can imagine the panic on this forum tomorrow if we win: threads like -

    "What were we thinking?

    winning the game!"

    "Butcher and Scully in jeopardy

    our rebuilding is ruined"

    "We HAVE to lose

to either Richmond, West Coast or Port Adelaide"

haha ok.. i did say go easy!

i know what you mean though! of course i want us to win.. i am just thinking in the long term!!

i am going to the game tomorrow and will be supporting us.. its just the thought of adding a scully and butcher to the squad gives me a tingling sensation.. what just me?

  5. i agree with most of you really.. its hard being a supporter and to actually cheer for the opposition.. i too want us to win as i am sick of getting 'crap' from other people because i go for the dees.. i suppose I just look at the big picture of our young list and how we can make it better with pick 1 & 2.. but to go a whole year not cheering for the team I have loved my whole life.. is just too hard!

  6. i still feel really 'dirty' hoping the dees only win 4 games this season.. but a sacrifice for the future!!

personally i am hoping the following win this week to help us gain this result:

Freo v Hawks - only reason i want hawks to win is so they get form back as they play us next week!!

Melb v Dogs - this pains me..

Cats v North - impossible!! but go north (get away from our bottom place!)

Lions v Crows - doesnt really matter this one.. but i think lions will do better this season.. so go crows (same as north)

Swans v Eagles - another step closer to the eagles getting over 4 wins and staying away from our PP's!

Port v Tigers - come on tiges! you can do it!! (obvious reasons)

Pies v Blues - i should probably pick pies seeing they are playing us soon.. but i hate pies with a passion.. go blues!

saints v essendon - same as pies..not a big essendon fan.. plus wont really effect us

half of these will never happen..but oh well!

    thoughts?

go easy on me (i know there are those on this site that just want us to win this season.. i too would like that.. but when we are 1-7 and seeing the line up we have left to face in the year.. you have to think of the future!!)

  7. Because GC17 are only going to poach uncontracted players at the end of next year, not this year.

We'll sign up/extend the contracts of the players we want to keep next year, no need to rush into things now.

Ahh got ya! That makes more sense then! Good work boys! :)

nothing but the filth doing a dodgey, got caught and we said thankyou very much!

can't wait until he kicks a winning goal against them!

    haha love it!

  8. Pure speculation.

    Yes...

If we had Nat, he might not have done his knee...he might have debuted for the Dees.....and god forbid we might have been 3 and 4 at this stage...on our way to 6+ wins.....hence no scully or butcher.....

    Like I said.....that's all pure speculation.....should've, could've, would've...

i was thinking more along the lines of.. we get watts and nat.. nat injures himself.. so he and watts take most of the season until they debut (training up, getting bigger, etc)..so not much different to this season.. so we get all four of them suited up the next season (watts, nick nat, scully, butcher)...hooha!!

i know its specualtion.. but its fun to dream!!

    should-izzle, could-izzle, would-izzle!!

  9. I think PJ can be used in more positions than Jamar and we know he can kicks goals.

I wish we had nat

    that is actually very true!

    I don't. Happy with Watts. :)

yeh but if we hadnt of won that game against carlton we could have had watts & nat, and then we could have had scully and butcher... we would be set for a premiership!!

  10. i dont know why everyone on this site hates Jamar! personally i think he is better then PJ! good to see the big russian back and hopefully he can prove himself!

having said that.. i am happy we have messen and spencer developing!! (if only we got nick nat along with watts!)

  11. I am not sure if this has been posted before.. i found it on another site and thought it was interesting..

AFL Prospectus (Champion Data) – Top 25 for 09 Draft (not in order)

Please note - last year 15 of their top 25 were picked in the top 25 on draft day, 6 others were picked up later, 2 in the rookie draft and 2 missed out all together (Tom Hill and Tyson Davis-Neale – who were both bottom aged)

2009 – they say the top picks will be mostly mids this year

    Mids

    * Callum Batrlett – 179/75 - Outside Mid with pace and skills - Geelong

    * Ryan Bastinac – 182/71 – Goal kicking ball magnet and clearance player – Dandenong

    * Alex Carey – 178/74 – not quick but is a natural football & ball magnet who can kick goals and was already playing senior reserves last year – Glenelg

    * Allen Christen – 175/69 – small, but clever ball magnet, who is both inside and out – Geelong

    * Jesse Crichton – 183/66 – works hard, tackles hard and runs hard, they are predicting he will be a star – Tassie

    * Jordan Gysberts – 189/82 – kicking needs work but finds the ball and avg’s well for clearances and inside 50’s

    * Kane Lucas – 186/78 – an exciting prospect who they claim is one of the standout mids at the moment – East Fremantle

    * Dustin Martin – 187/84 – absolute ball magnet in the TAC cup – Bendigo

    * Jake Melksham – 183/69 – very promising inside mid who can rack up contested possessions and clearances – Calder

    * Andrew Moore – 188/81 – can play through the middle or across half-back avg 4 hardball gets and 3 tackles in TAC – Eastern Rangers

    * Andrew Morabito 189/85 – mid who can also play forward and kick goals, is known for doing some magical things – Peel Thunder

    * Tom Scully – 182/72 – Avg 27 disposals, 12 contested, 6 hardball gets, 9 handball receives and 5 I/50’s in the TAC and was in the top 5 best performed mids in the U/16 NC, he is their early pick to go Number 1, saying he is a future superstar – Dandenong

    * Koby Stevens – 186/78 – likes to kick it long and appears to be getting better as he gets older avg 20 disp in TAC – Gippsland

    * Liam Tobin – 186/78 – has a very effective kick and avg 18 possies (8 contested) at the U/16 NC - Sandringham

    Utilities

    * Declan Bevan – 195/96 – Very good U/16 key forward at nationals but, struggled in his first year at U/18 they predict he will go to the GC – QLD

    * Tom Mackenzie – 194/84 – kick needs work but is versatile and can play either end or in the ruck - Geelong

    Key Forwards

    * John Butcher – 197/83 – tall, athletic, his marking is his strength, was second to Watts in Goals kicked at the U/18 NC impressive for a 1st year player, predicting a top 2 draft pick – Gippsland -- I saw him play and he was super impressive, very good hands.

    * Jack Fitzpatrick – 196/73 – can play fwd or back, was equal top goal kicker at U/16 NC, sounds kind of like his ex-teammate Post – Western jets – apparently he wears a headband!

    * Ben Grifiths – 194/82 – athletic tall with a lot of potential but has had some injuries – Eastern Rangers

    * Myles Pitt – 190/93 - goal kicking machine who is also excellent in the air and kicks for goal at an impressive 70% which is an excellent rate for a key forward, only issue is his height for the position he appears suited - Dandenong

    Key Defender

    * Kyle Hartigan – 194/82 – reliable key defender known for spoils and marks from opp. kicks – Western Jets

    Defenders

    * Mitch Duncan – 187/81 – Reliable defender who dominated in WA colts, rebounding of half back – East Perth

    * Mitchell Golby – 181/74 – Neat left footer who reads the play well and racks up the possessions – Gippsland

    Rucks

    * Joseph Groenewegen – 196/77 – mobile ruckman who is one to watch – Tassie –- from a big footballing family in Tassie I think because I know the name

    * Nathan Vardy – 198/83 – developing ruckman/key defender who will take time, but he lead the U/16 NC in hitouts to advantage

  12. Says a bit about our suppoters.

Cameron Bruce is much much better than 7. TUT TUT

agree 100%... everyone doubted Bruce and he comes out with the second most disposals for out team and caps if off with a goal!! give this man some credit!!

And having said this.. I doubted PJ and he played really well against Cox.. I stand corrected!

    6. Bruce (yeah i went there!)

    5. Jones

    4. Morton

    3. Miller

    2. Moloney

    1. Bennell

  13. Yeah it's a weekly show, if it was anyone else but hutchy it would be great!! Missed most of it.. did they mention butchers 6 yesterday?

yeah from what i saw they had a recap for the game and mentioned he kicked 6 and said 'this kid will be a real star' or something along those lines
