Those interested can catch up with the Yuendumu Magpies Football Club website here.
I wonder if there is any opportunity for them to become the yuendumu demons?? That would be some great PR.

fell asleep early in the 2nd quarter but davey and wona were both stand outs in the 1st for mine.
Davey was excellent, putting other players in space on a few occasions.
Wona looked like he had picked up a yard of pace, lost his direct opponent many times and was just everywhere in the 1st.

loved the members rugby jumper as you can wear it all season, a polo can only be seen when it is warm. Bring back the rugby jumper for mine!

At least we'll get our cups back
or do the MCC get their footballers back?

I don't think that I've seen anything worse at AFL/VFL level since the days of the old Army Reserve Cup when a Collingwood seconds player decided to emulate the activity of the competition's sponsor by declaring war on everyone who happened to be on or near the vicinity of the ground.
The only thing that comes close in my memmory again involved the collingwood ressies when dermie stomped on a sydney players head.

If it happens (and it's already been pointed out that it's not near to being set in stone) it would make us part of an organisation worth in excess of $200m rather than being an outfit that's worth in excess of a negative figure of $2m. With due respect to the great RDB, we would still have to worry about the business side of things but we'd certainly have a fair sized cushion of comfort.
However, there might be some pitfalls to consider as well. Once you become a section of the MCC, you lose a measure of your independence. Questions therefore need to be asked about the cost and effect of that and whether it's worth selling your soul to achieve such an outcome.
This is not to say I'm against the idea. Just playing devil's advocate.
One immediate benifit that could be is potentially no more need to sell home games interstate.

Are both going to Plat (especially Jack with school)
game starts at 5 so schools shouldn't be an issue. LJ is a bit more of a concern for me due to his withdrawal from the all stars game due to "conditioning" hopefully this was just a bit of general soreness and will be right for next friday

Woulda been funnier if it had been Juddy (or Robbie Warnock to a lesser extent) on the receiving end.
OR CJ??? We don't want to go there again though do we?

"According to the latest Talking Training thread, he is training the house down."
The report must have come from the kick-boxing session

This will be the first time even the Melbourne coaching staff have ever seen Liam Jurrah play a game. Prepare yourself for something special.
I'm taking the day off and my wife is finishing early just to go down and see Jack Watts and liam Jurrah for the 1st time. Can't wait!

Just saw it on the news, and yes, he does. First he knocks Cloke out with a big left, then kicks him in the balls... f*ckin funniest thing i've seen in a while. I'd be lying if i said i didn't burst out into the biggest laughing fit i've had for months... Ohhh, that's entertainment!
not entertainment, KARMA - about TIME for that cheating bunch of scumbags! Just about the funniest thing I have ever seen!

That Kiwi shirt is horrid
Ours is not much better, what ever happened to bills canary yellow?

Practically the football department may lose money because theMCC doesn't want to provide coin
Speculative, but I would suggest that football operations would be unlikely to suffer as we are already one of the clubs who have cut as close to the bone as possible already. Administration could be a massive saving for the club in terms of pooling resources, membership departments, marketing, sponsorship etc etc etc. Huge potential benifits that could well lead to an increase in spending for football operations. Potentially even wider access to the MCG for training as well. If this is the case this could be the biggest news our club has had in a long time.

Rumor on the radio this morning that a club is having a big media conference today at 10am.... lets cross our fingers

I was having an interesting thought, but needs 16 email addresses to do it.
Basically take what is seen as the current best for each side and enter them in for the season and see where they finish without substitution during the year. I think there would be some real suprises!
-
I like the idea of what primus have to say. It will be interesting to see if anything comes of this, I'm sure there would be media all over this...
I the interim I wonder if any such sponsership was conditional of landing brown which would have been unlikely. He was always going to finish his career in brisabane. So if this is the case PM comments are strange, I wonder what hidden agenda there is here, (AGM???) Might make for an interesting night?

we played in a perfect alternate strip for years, bring back the royal blue for the clashes!
You still see plenty of those colours at the games and these jumpers have not been worn in nearly 20yrs (maybe more)
-
don't know about tonight, but another option is to sign up online at the MFC website, you can also set up monthly payments that way too.
And the age option delivered fri-mon is a good one as well for MFC and yourself!
-
I dunno where to start, where do i sign up? I know very little about toher teams let alone their players, aside the obvious.
click on this link... http://supercoach.heraldsun.com.au
register with email and password. Everything works on a salery cap. have a look at my earlier post I have a link to my starting point to get you started!
-
I've never done this, hmmm should i bother?
be careful, it can become very addictive!
Also for me personally I have found it has added interest in non mfc games which prev I would not have cared about but will actually watch. Perfect example will be sat night. Good chance to have a look at swift and sidebottom.

DD, i could chip in/get heaps of footies from my bedroom and mates' houses. I'm sure, if someone like you was willing to organise this, the club would help put. I've also got old dees scarves and stuff. I know new stuff would be even better, but in terms of how much we could send over, i recon we could get heaps more this way.
I would kindly donate my 09 members scarf back to the club if it is viable. Maybe the club should have a box behind the pickup point for donations such as this?
I have a pile of prev years at home that have never seen my neck as i have my trusty royal blue and red antique that I have on each week and have done so since about 82'.
edit..... I just emailed the club as well re this and having someone like CC deliver the good will package a few weeks into the season especially if LJ has had a bit of an impact on field! Great opportunity for positive marketing and PR for the MFC!
-
got a response from the ABC today stating that initially the game was only to be shown in the NT, but due to popularity they will show nationally and the only slot open is the 11.20pm.
Booooo. Surely there is capacity somewhere to show the game live, now LJ is out my interest has reduced a little. Bring on the scratch match next fri

Oops. Looks like you made the schoolboy error of picking too many players from the club you support. Never works.
Even if one is a hit, they usually end up stealing stats from each other, unless its a team like Geelong.
A lot are weighted in the back half, Did well last year with this model as I expect plenty of ball down there!
Also Do the prices change during the NAB cup? my logic is to get the best young players now see who shows a bit during NAB and make appropriate changes prior to rd 1.
But I'll Put out the challenge...... Pls name better scoring players for the same or less price as the following MFC:
Back Line
Buckley, S $ 362,600 - is a ball magnet, clangers hurt him last year but with brock/beamer back hopefully this will improve
Grimes, J $ 188,400 - Big chance of rising star nomination, even award this year IMO, good value at 188k
Bartram, C $ 279,200 - Good value at this price IMO but 3rd choice behind SB and JG
Mid
Morton, C $ 327,800 - same as SB
Moloney, B $ 389,000 - Hard ball winner, good by foot, tackles well.
Strauss, J $ 94,200 - to have Ablett, Hodge + Judd rookies have to play due to salery cap. silky finisher likely to play this year, Already have rich(BL) and Swift (WC)
Johnson, P $ 398,400 - Likely to get a mess of the ball this year, best value ruckman IMO
Spencer, J $ 83,400 - Good chance to get a game this year, could be the bargen of the year
Fwd - Probably my weekness at the moment due to salery cap, but would prefer a star midfield.
Jurrah, L $ 144,200 - Have Fev, Deledio, harvs, pav need salery cap room, likely to play this year
Watts, J $174,200 - As above, already have Sidebottom, Schoenmakers, Sibosado, as well.
