Watts should buy a tattslotto ticket.. Luckiest guy in the afl getting a game!
-
Davey needs to harden up and stop sulking whenever he gets tagged. He is dead set useless when someone plays a 'hard' tag. Wasn't helped by the coaching, as someone stated Mick Malthouse was clever in what he said or even move him to forward pocket.
-
Has Bennell being playing? haven't seen him. Both will need to play a few weeks at Casey to get match fitness though. trengove and Davey struggling so there are spots. Green can move forward.

It's Weds tomorrow. Closer to game day again and we can talk about the real issue with Moloney.
His questionable disposal.
There, I said it.
The thing is which isn't taken into context is the amount of contested possesions and hard ball gets Moloney gathers in a game makes people think he has poor skills. Also a lot a quick centre clearances that he just gets the ball moving. It's easy for guys like Bennell who get the soft possesions to look skillfull but never get the hardball. Geez cut the guy some slack he is the only reason we have a win and a draw. The more pressing issues are our forward line and why Bate and Petterd can't get a game.
-
Lets look at one of Moloney's Inside 50s. Takes a mark on the Member's Wing. Almost all of our Forwards have pressed up to the defensive side of midfield. Instead of waiting for the forwards and mids to work back into the 50 so we have a better chance of retaining possession he bombs the ball long to the 176cm Wonaeamirri who not surprisingly does not outmark the 196cm Merrett who is standing next to him. A totally useless Inside 50. When a key stat in relation to scoring goals is the time the ball spends inside 50 an entry like this is totally useless.
Gysberts was better than Moloney because he wins genuine inside ball that Moloney cannot, releases to the advantage of a team mate and we retain possession more when he kicks it. I have no confidence when Moloney gets the ball that we will retain possession.
Wow that is the biggest load of tripe i have ever read. I am pretty sure you will be on your own here, knocking one of his inside 50's really you serious? He will get 3 brownlow votes and all votes in the bluey. Got all votes in the herald sun. Learn footy then come back.
Moloney can't win the inside ball of Gysberts haha had to chuckle at that one.
By the way Gysberts is a gun and take nothing away from the kid, he will be a star.

Its a really crud leadership example in a side that lacks leadership when a senior player and VC goes on a 7 hour bender the day before a recovery session. Really poor stuff. Neither MFC or the nightclub are claiming the urination issue. MFC is publicly disappointed at the lack of judgement, decision making and example set by Moloney. He was right to publicly commit to counselling.
In a nutshell.
Well done on completely missing the point. B)
7 hour bender???? Bad words [censored]. A dinner with a few drinks then heading out afterwards is not a bender. Leaving friday night after work and coming home sunday now that is a bender!

Ah he was suspended for a week!
Jack Watts breathes a sigh of relief... although Bate and Petterd still better options
-
The scariest thing is this has made bigger news in Melbourne than someone shooting 7 people then himself in a shopping centre. We need to get a grip on whats going on. Mostly the medias fault!!!!
-
Gee a lot of people owe an apology for jumping the gun.
He lost the title of being vice captain. Again showed on the weekend he is a real on field leader!
-
2 week suspension. Poor form.
Your ready to suspend him for 2 weeks because someone rang up a radio station making claims? Quick to judge. Who cares if he was out at 2am celebrating our win. He is the only one who ut in 4 qtrs yesterday! Society is to sanitised nowadays!
-
Maric has been stiff, I'd prefer Wona as the sub as he can't run out a full game.
If Watts somehow stays i would love to see him have a run at chb or on the back flank. Think he would learn a lot and would be great for his development. Even last week it would have been good for him to have a run on buddy!
-
Who goes to Ablett? I think Bail might be a chance although would be good to give Gysberts and Trengove a run.
-
Good call Maldonboy. Pity others don't see what we see.
Sure, he's not setting the world on fire. He goes missing for long periods too. But his off-the-ball work is still good.
Wasn't he playing on the wing though?
-
It is a disgrace, with the internet and other live games going on to show an interstate game on delay is terrible. Would be great for the next tv deal if foxtel got rights to all games. They show it live and do a proper pre match. Worth the extra coin!

I agree. Watts is battling with confidence. But his ability is there for all to see. At some point it will click for him and he will be a champion. But I don't see it with Morton. He always looks totally out of his depth and he doesn't demonstrate the skill Watts has (some of Watts's field kicks are just beautiful).
Not sure his field kicking is beautiful. He only had about 4 today. A couple of chips that went 15 metres and then that one before half time where cost us a shot on goal. Morton is far ahead of Watts at this stage but both need to harden up and start contributing, i feel Morton will sooner than later.
-
Watts is a long term prospect, who just turned 20 and has played 20 odd games.
We absolutely must keep playing in the seniors. He'll click eventually. He's been playing a role and has done a few nice things, more benefit from having him at AFL level while we're still a developing team than from leaving him at VFL level.
Plus he deserves a crack at GoldCoast, could get some serious confidence from that game
Yes he is a developing young forward. But he doesn't deserve a crack at Gold Coast. He is not playing well enough to deserve a spot. He is not confident and players do not have confidence in him. He needs to go back to Casey and play some good footy down there and earn a recall. There is no disgrace in being dropped when your a young player and when your not contributing to the team.
-
Watts out for Petterd. Speaks for itself really, not sure how any one could justify Watts getting a game. He was terrible today.
-
Moloney is the best player at the club! He is machine and goes harder than anyone!
-
He definately isn't a good choice for the sub. He isn't a real impact player, Wona should have been a sub as he is far to fat to run out a full game and is more of an impact player. I would have much preferred Morton out there than Watts.
-
6-Moloney, On field leader.
5- Jamar
4-Jurrah
3- Jones
2-Rivers
1- Gysberts
Sub should have been Wona. Morton was a horrible decision to be the Sub. He is an accumulator of the ball and needs to play most of the day to have an impact where as Wona is the opposite. Can't run out a full game and has little impact late in the game.
-
Jones again today - some very good things, but basic skill errors late in the game.
He spilled a regulation mark late that almost led to a game-tying shot on goal for Brisbane, but Rivers saved him.
A frustrating player.
HIs third quarter along with Moloney won us the game. Was fantastic all day, everyone is in trouble if you mark them on one skill error. Even the captain missed a simple set shot. More of a worry is Davey, can't face a hard tag and spends most of the day sooking instead helping out his team.
-
With the sub rule i like the idea of him resting down forward more. Rather him forward of the centre than in defence.
-
Big Juice in.
Out Watts.
Juice can read the play, Watts can learn at VFL level, is still a fair way of AFL standard. Not body wise or skill wise just can't read the play at all and shouldn't stand in the way of a better player at the moment.
I thought Jones did a job ok.
Bennel I don't think should have played another game after round 2 last year when he shat himself twice!
-
Jurrah was playing up the ground early with Watts deep, that should be reversed, Watts up the ground, Jurrah deep.
Absolutely fasle. Hodge was on Watts so Watts should have dragged Hodge deeper. He was told many times by Green and Petterd to go back but he failed to do so. His failer to read the play is disturbing. People say his body isn't big enough yet, but it's the fact that he struggles to read the play and with Juice kicking 5 he should make way for him.
People have short memories with Moloney, he had 21 contested possesions, this will be more than Bennel and a few others have in one season!
