He was terrific and only let him down with his goal kicking, was a tough breeze though which resulted in bad kicking for both teams.

i'm worried when people are saying he wasn't the same withough Aussie and Davey. I don't think Aussie will play again for Melbourne (hope he does but there are more important things than football). And Davey might not be back until next year.

To be fair, Petterd was pretty poor outside of his tackling. For three quarters I felt he was giving us very little. In the fourth I felt his workrate went up, and I noticed him harrassing a lot more. The tackling effort and his fourth quarter to me are more than enough, but I didn't think the rest of his game was very good at all.

I thought Petterd was ordinary, bit selfish at times where he could have dragged his man away from the contest so the other Melbourne Player could have had a one on one. But his defensive work was great.

Green not sure where he is at, struggled a little today without taking a big mark late in the 3rd and early in the last.

Never easy being the sub. Did ok without being great. Some turnovers but hard to judge a subs game.

The sub can come from any of the 22 named at the moment. Not sure if people realise benches and subs have to be name 45mins before the game. 5pm Thursday teams just need to name there 22. It is like saying all the players will start in there exact position named, its not going to happen!

I was also suprised not that it matters. Richmond have been more consistent so it is fair enough to expect they will turn up and play well. This game depends on which Melbourne will turn up. I'm hopefull the right one will!

I agree to good and important to our forward line to be a sub. Should be Bennell or Nicohlson.

Big call on Bartram but probably the right one - if the Push Up was playing he would have, but there's only one real small forward threat in Nahas, and Bennell is better suited to him.

I think Bennell should be the Sub or Nicholson. Can't have important players like Jurrah being the Sub. He can turn it on and being our leading goal kicker by early ten goals must give him some credit. Can see Jamar playing more as a forward and Stef doing most of the ruck for this game.

Yes this is a massive game. The media will also build this one up. Saturday afternoon at the G, big crowd. Really is a big game for Dean Bailey. He really needs to get the players up for this one, thought he did a brilliant job yesterday and the message to get the ball inside 50 quickly got through. Garland is important and I hope he plays. Jamar will be good to come back, but may play more forward with Martin playing so well.

Get the feeling it will be a finals type atmosphere and think Sylvia and Mckenzie will dominate.

Bennel or Petterd will be the sub I think. Both i think are suited to the role. I ike the idea of Garlan in the side and wouldn't mind him up forward for a bit. Glad Ballantyne is out could have seen him be a nightmare for us!

Has been injured and has only just started playing for Casey. Played very well against Sandy the other week when i saw him live. Didn't see the game last week.

Not sure if people are serious when they say Spencer is a better option, maybe i miss read. Hille would be a terrific addition to the team. As one poster who went to school with him said I have heard that he is a bit of a strange bloke, stemming from an accident with a mate.

Exactly right Rogue. We have a few uncontracted players at the moment. Do we say to them there not playing until they sign. What about the guys that want to sign and haven't been given a contract, do they say well im not playing until i get a contract?

I always found it strange clubs offer players contracts well before they end. He is contracted to the club until October, no reason to sign him until his last one expires! to many people being sucked in by the media here. AFL is loving it because it is promoting GWS. The media loves it because people are reading the stories and listening to there egos. Scully's manager is loving it because his price is rising. The only loser out of this is the MFC. Scully is piggy in the middle.

There is a major difference between making a decision based on the biggest pot of money and making sure that you get the best financial outcome even though it means taking a lesser amount.

The only given is that we will not be able to compete financially dollar for dollar on a contract because of cap contraints.

There is talk on this board of getting TS a Judd/Visy like deal. I would assume that the wealthier benefactors at the club will have been or are being approached. If Tom's inclination as he has stated is to be a one club player, his management would be saying - the longer we leave this hopefully the more imaginative MFC will become in lining up sponsorships, ambassadorships etc so the gap between a GWS and MFC offer narrows. I am sure if Judd's management said to Pratt at negotiation time - increase the Visy deal by XXX and Judd is yours then there would have been no question as to what Pratt would have done. I am thinking ( hoping) that the MFC are having the same discussions behind the scenes now.

When TS signs ( hopefully) I am thinking we are going to see marketing deals and ambassadorships in place for him.

With Sylvia and Morton also out of contract its not the worse thing for the MFC to wait as well. THey need to work out each players worth and then look at other players from other clubs as well. No point putting all our cash to Scully then losing Sylvia and Morton and maybe missing out on a say Salopek or Pearce just to keep him. He is just a player in his second year. He will be an absolute gun but to me team before one player.
