  1. Toump looking good. Bit unlucky bit hopefully they stick it at. Geelong in 2nd gear.

Toss up between Dunn (why punch it back in to the corridor? Not going up for a spoil!) and Kent (how does he get a game???) for the worst players I have ever seen.

  2. I still can't understand why they re-signed Evans ahead of the likes of Watts and Sylvia though. Surely you work out the guys on the more money then look at guys like Evans down the lower end. Might be just me but I though it was strange.

  3. Not sure if this has been mentioned elsewhere, but I heard that Ricky Petterd did a 'like' or whatever the equivalent is on Instagram (sorry don't use it.) to the 'Karma is a [censored]' image that was put up by Moloney

Thats the closest thing to a comment from players that I have heard of (Can't confirm it however)

Yep Ricky used the hand clap emotive and I think Meeson had a laugh at it as well. On ther other side ex rookie Danny Hughes used the crying emotion towards him!

  4. listen to the whispers coming out you're on the money.

This is the funny part. Everyone on here slamming Moloney because he left whereas other players have continued not trying. Moloney left worked his butt off and will probably finish top 5 in Brisbane's b&f.

One point I will make is that does everyone actually believe he was voted out of the leadership group by the players? What was the one thing that changed from 2011 to 2012?

While Moloney wasn't an out and out superstar he worked his butt off harder than anyone else at training and wanted the club to be back in the finals as soon as possible. The over reasction to an instergram photo is laughable by some people.

  5. That's a very idealistic way of thinking about it. You're missing a few steps there, such as Moloney not willing to do the required work and simply believing he deserved the captaincy and didn't have to work for it.

I don't understand this and everyone saying Moloney didn't want to do the extra work. He was the hardest trainer and was always doing extra work for e.g boxing camps during the bye. Also people saying it was Mark Neeld's best move getting rid of Moloney is bizarre. Why does everyone think we didn't offer a contract just because we didn't match Brisbane's?

  6. I would prefer not to have Knights but the way he was white anted by Hird and others destroyed any chance he had. It's, to this extent, increasingly a game of perception. For instance, I have listened to Gary Ayres both on TV and at the ground in the VFL and he commands player respect. But the media tells us 'no' and so that's what it is. He's damaged goods. What a load of shite.

Without trying to be too much of a conspiracy theorist, the supporters of all clubs are now mostly lead by the nose....me included. Knobs like Barrett and his ilk plant a seed here and a seed there and pretty soon rumour becomes fact and we are told indirectly who is flavor of the month and who isn't.

Would like Ayres as well. My brother is now playing at Port and was listening to him in the huddle. He was fantastic, challenged the players and they instantly responded. Gave my brother a great spay which was good to watch as well! Would love to have him involved at Melbourne.

  7. Ha! 5aa saying our best mids don't stack up to Port's. Ok our mids aren't great but Port's are woeful.

I nearly spat my drink out when they were talking about that! They couldn't even name 5 midfielders! Then they threw in Ebert and chad Wingard...

  8. Every nuance regarding the alleged tanking has been discussed here except one; if we were really trying to lose we would have Bartram in as 1st ruck.

The AFL want publicity throughout the off season and that is why the investigation started. It would not surprise me if CW was put up to it by the AFL. they have struck their publicity gold medal this year what with the Adelaide/Tippett case as well as Collywobble drugs etc.

Their will be no announcement until just before the NAB cup and it will be a non issue that will get swallowed up by the euphoria of the footie starting up again.

This thread and others of the same ilk are exactly what the AFL wanted.

ie to keep AFL brand in the public domain 24/365.

It's funny how Caro's inside sources have dried up since Anderson has left. It comes out about the bullying tactics by the investigators and then Anderson quits. Pretty interesting really.

  9. Not sure the AFL can do a lot more about this problem.

It is part of society now and guess what AFL players are part of society.

I have two very close friends who have big problems with their 30"s year old sons.

I would have thought both families would not have this problem

    But how wrong was I.

Besides education and testing I am not sure what else you can do.

I have a brother that was an addict and one that was on an AFL list for 4 years. While there are illicit drugs being used by AFL players they are doing an amazing job for an organisation that has men aged 18-35. If my other brother had the support shown t AFL players I have no doubt there wouldn't have been such an issue.

People don't understand the AFL policy which is where the issue lies. AFL does more testing than other sports, it does out of competition testing which other codes like cricket are not doing. Cricket recently has had more issues than the AFL, especially with the Warriors players.

  10. I just want to call him up and explain to him that no quotes should make no article. His jumping around about what players were 'shopping' around was truly laughable!

No standards in the media and truly think KB does a reasonable show a disservice by having this clown on twice a week.

Cannot wait till Melbourne get awesome so I can call him and just berate him!

The thing is managers always 'shop' players around to get a market value. It is there job, especially now with free agency this will happen all the time. It's happening at Melbourne because we still have so many out of contract players. Denham just doesn't understand how it all works.

  11. We only have about 5 senior players and Rivers and Moloney have put the feelers out there so he is kind of correct. Being overseas at the moment i am very much out of the loop. But from what I have heard from a former player is that Neeld was more than happy to ship the older guys on and start as fresh as possible.

One thing I have missed is people telling me that Frawley might go to the Saints. Am i getting cranked here or what? He must have a couple of years on his contract to go.

  12. Im suspicious with Cloke signing, not long after Eddie made his ploy to Vlad to have a similar deal like Carltons Visy one setup...

    $800K a year add in Pendlebury($700K), Swan($600K), Jolly($500K) and Ball($500K). Doesn't leave much for the others.

Smart clubs structure there pay deals. Clokes may be front ended say 1mil one year and Swans back ended so 1 mil towards the end.

  13. The national game has been up and about for more than 20 years, yet sides who travel still play bad football. I take my hat off to Sydney, they are solid on most of their interstate games.

Today's game in Perth was another predictable outcome. Not being a west coke supporter nor a west Aussie, I tune out of games in Perth these days.....it's too predictable and much the same in Adelaide.

For a national game, coaches and players still can't get the right formula for travelling......bloody strange

In our game it's actually a lot harder as the ground shapes are so different. Every other sport i can think all have the same dimensions.
