  1. Let me explain it this way. Might be repeating myself. However, unlike many around here I dont "pot" past or present players on our list. I look for the positives and not the negatives, in both past & present players. Seriously, I dont do it at games so I wont do it here. I dont share my opinions on every player in the AFL just a many around here, why? I will leave that up to you. But let me say this, I'm here to learn and I appreciate the input of others. In fact I might just be the dumbest bloke here, which is fine by me.

If I listened to half the crap written on here I wouldn't have the faith in Colin Slyvia, Mark Jamar & Lyndon Dunn that I do ... just to name a few. B)

Then when they are "challenged" out come the "moron", "idiot", you are "wrong" ... thats fine I'm a thick skinned old bloke.

Yes, I'm critical of this place at times. However, I think I've made my position clear. In any "community" you will find many of the same traits as you do here. I accept that my views are "different" but I would not want it any other way.

So I wasn't trying to be evasive with your answer.

Don't get me wrong, I don't pot players either and i share your positivity when looking at the list...

But my opinion is based not on inside knowledge but purely on events that have proceeded this discussion...

IMHO I do not believe TJ will come under any consideration form the recruiting department because:

    - We traded him for pick 14 in the 2007 National Draft, in which we selected Jack Grimes. This was in no way done as a result of salary cap pressures or any other factor other than the maxisimising of 1st round draft picks as was well documented at the time. From this i can only deduce that the football department believed that the list would improve as a result of this trade (only my assumption) and acted on it accordingly.

-The amount of players aged 27 and above over the past few years who have been given a tap on the shoulder, Yze, White, Whelan, Wheatley, McDonald, Miller. On that basis there is nothing there that suggests to me that the recruitment department would add a player who turns 31 in July next year.

-I believe the football department would be debating who will get a game round 1 next season out of Blease, Tapscott, Strauss and Gysberts rather than whether TJ should be picked up. TJ would be the last thing on their minds if at all (just my opinion)

  2. Thats one "hypothetical" I might not get the luxury to see what "would" be my preferred option. You can take that both ways.

Sure, but back to you original point, it would be remiss of us not to also consider:

Now that's going to take some consideration!

  3. Are you sure these 3 are a good example of your argument. Is the word "would" or "could"?

Two are very close to my heart, so I'm not going to "pot" any of them.

Nor should you. In fact you may have just answered your own question in this regard.

I pose the hypothetical. Would you rather TJ play instead of Blease for all of next season? Yes or no?

  4. DB "philosophy' might not have changed. But thats the whole point ... the avaliable talent and our postion in the drafting process has. B)

I never, said it didn't happen under DB, just said I would have been damn tempted too if I was DB then with the "lure of an extra first round draft pick to rebuild" ... B)

Forget the draft for a second,

Again would/should (and also do you think) TJ would play ahead of Blease, Tapscott, Gysberts et al.

If the answer is no then then we would not draft him.

If any consideration was to be made this is it.

  5. One step at a time mate. Lets wait and see if he is delisted first. Then & only then you explore the option.

All this comes down to is who would Trapper keep out of the side?

If the answer is Blease, Tapscott, Gysberts, Strauss, Morton, Jetta, Bennell...

Then you have your answer to this 'option under consideration'

  6. Pick 5 for Brennan AND Pick 10.

GC: Get Brennan & Pick 10

    Brisbane: Get Pick 5.

Yes, this is correct, however hasn't physically been signed off yet.

The absolute chaos at the Brisbane Lions continues...

In the last two years they have lost:

    Bradshaw

    Henderson

    Rischitelli

    Brennan

    Johnstone

    Sherman (is leaving)

    Clark (maybe)

  7. No, but is it wise?

Would the Lions be willing to pay some of his contract out?

They may not have a choice, depends how badly he wants to go...

If he really wants out and Perth isn't a possiblity then just throw what you can at him.

    The guy's a freak...

  8. First deal done - Patrick Veszpremi is a Doggie and Andrejs Everitt becomes the second member of his family to land at the Swans. Somebody threw in a late pick as well.

    Pick 73 I believe WJ.

By the way am I the only one that thinks we should through throw everything we can at Mitch Clark at this stage in time?

    Pick 12, 32 and a player?

  9. One thing lost in the equation is that most people just assume Alwyn Davey has great skills, I guess because Aaron does.

    He doesn't.

In fact Alwyn's skills are almost sub-par.

Not good enough for the position he plays on the field.

I agree, I believe his skills are questionable, epecially under pressure.

  10. Bennell. Jetta. Maric.

    It's not just Wonna.

If the basis for drafting someone is that they wouldn't be detrimental then an argument could be made for taking basically anyone.

The fact is we don't need a small forward, and Alwyn Davey isn't even that good.

I question whether Bennell, Jetta or Maric have played that role consistently at all.

In relation to drafting someone detrimental to the squad i was perhaps being too flippant.

We don't need another small forward and Alwyn Davey isn;t that good is of course your opinion. I may agree with you.

  11. We already have Wonna in that role.

What would you offer given the number of players we are delisting and the rookies we are elevating?

Is he a critical get for us?

    Think about it.

    1. Ok so Wonna's in that role. As such that role is already full, so no one else can perform that role?

    2. Hypothetically (not that I necessarily would want to mind you) third round pick or second round pick at the most (considering that pick will be around the 30 mark.)

    3. No he is not critcal. Would he improve our forwardline? You don;t believe so. I ask you would he be detrimental to our forwardline?

    4. I have thought about it. :o

  12. Like Wonna???

Honestly, MFC is not a family repatriation depot.

    Pass.

    Not suggesting this at all.

Quick defensive forwards are just about as important as contested ball winners in this era.

I'm not suggesting we should do this, rather posing the question.

I assume from your response RR that you would be dissapointed should we elect to trade for him.

  13. Talented KPP don't grow on trees. And he is that. Remember that he is only 20 years old (a year older than Watts) and may have a lot of development left in him.

There are stories out of Adelaide that he is a bit of a hero. Also that he is not happy with Neil Craig.

I would hope that the club would try to speak to him and at least do due diligence. He has good hands, is a good size and contary to some beliefs has very good skills. If his head was right he would definitely be worth a long hard look.

I need to go and headbutt something now for allowing myself to be drawn into this.

Reckon we should go after Shaun McKernan.
