  1. Yeah, I'm sure a tin rattle never occurred to them. Good luck with that line, champ.
  2. The whole vault would have to do that. And they would have to do that without giving conflicting evidence. And they would have to do that even with the knowledge that there have already been leaks. And they would have to do that even with the knowledge that they can't trust each other. And they would have to put their careers at great risk and possibly even perjure themselves. Alternatively, Schwab, McClardy, Connolly and the other bad eggs can fess up and take their medicine and just maybe the club will get through this. I can't see them doing it willingly though.
  3. Yes, really. My view is that we should get behind the club and if this involves holding Schwab and others to account than so be it. For years people on here have been unable to differentiate the club and the board. Did you know that Schwab used to be a Richmond supporter? It's fine if you don't agree with me, but that doesn't make me any more divisive than you are.
  4. How am I pushing divisiveness? I just want what is best for the club. I don't care if it is different to what is best for Schwab, the Board or anyone else involved in the tanking - they only have themselves to blame.
  5. Popular view of who should be blamed for the current MFC crisis: Wilson Demetriou McLean Denham Faceless men Bailey Gardner Me The boogie Popular view of who should not be blamed for the current MFC crisis: The guys who have been running the show for the last 4 years Sunshine Moolight Good times
  6. What you were saying made no sense and has no relevance to this issue. To suggest that Gardner would be envious of the record of the current administration is really too much. Even if I just take your one isolated point about debt reduction, Garnder managed to improve the financial position of the club without the generous tv rights and stadium deals that Stynes/Schwab have enjoyed, and without resorting to unsustainable donation drives. Hardly an indictment. I don't think I'll be indulging your tripe any longer.
  7. Criticise the current board based on evidence of gross incompetence: Bastard who hates the club Criticise a board from four years ago on the basis of a trek: Hero who loves the club Again, the tanking mess we find ourselves in has nothing to do with what did or didn't happen four years ago.
  8. When I say "fundraising" i'm talking about "holding the cap out to supporters". I am certainly not referring to corporate relations/sponsorship, efficient business practices nor anything else that could be considered "financial acumen".
  9. If you were a real MFC supporter (like me) you would care more about what the people in charge are doing to our club, and less about trying to smear the legacy of a guy who left four yeas ago.
  10. To put it mildly! I think "systematically demonstrated utter incompetence in every facet of club administration except fundraising" sums it up a bit more accurately. This is what an inclusive club looks like. By contrast, Gardner and his board have were completely ostracized after Jim took over. I have no doubt that Gardner regrets his decision to let the boys club get a foot in the door. Here's how it went: Harris to Connolly Connolly and Leoncelli to Stynes Stynes to Schwab Connolly to Viney Clusterfcuk to Garry This is a great example of the mass hypnosis on Demonland that makes me look so biased. Paul NcNamee: "We need a big, strong power forward who will straighten up the team. Someone in his mid 20s who will provide leadership for the next few years and who the punters will want to come and watch. What about that bloke from Brisbane? We should throw everything at him." Demonland verdict: Moron Current admin: "We need a big, strong power forward who will straighten up the team. Someone in his mid 20s who will provide leadership for the next few years and who the punters will want to come and watch. What about that bloke from Brisbane? We should throw everything at him." Demonland verdict: Genius And I love how you say "set off a chain of events". As though the Stynes/Schwab ambush just sort of happened almost by accident. Schwab wasn't hired because the AFL preferred him to McNamee. Schwab was hired because his mate Stynes had pulled off a coup with the help of his mate Connolly who acted as a mole, undermining the people who hired him. You need to face the facts. It doesn't matter what you or I think of the previous board or the one before that. They haven't been responsible for four years now. They certainly have nothing to do with the current disaster. The fact that four years later people still feel the need to blame the previous board in order to feel better about the current mob really speaks volumes.
  11. Boring. Changes nothing. Club and Board/Admin are not the same thing. Start you own thread.
  12. Baby steps mate. You're getting there. I am not pleased to see my club being put through the ringer but my view is with the way things have been going, something like this was always going to have to happen before things got better. I will admit that I will be pleased if the current admin get thrown out as a result of this latest stuff up and I think this would be in the long term interests of the club. In my view, the best chance we have of preventing our club from being completely crippled is for the guilty parties to go to the AFL, offer their resignations and try to figure out a way to contain the damage. Justice will need to have been seen to have been served and, even if it is only for symbolic reasons, heads will have to roll before our club will be able to move past this. Unfortunately, the egos involved make this unlikely in my estimation. Schwab has never been able to put the club's interests before his own and he is obsessed with his legacy. I have no doubt that his preference would be to waste club resources by becoming embroiled in legal action designed to preserve his personal reputation regardless of the cost to the club. The consequences of this would be dire. I will also admit to a certain amount of guilty "I told you so" feelings. Maybe this makes me a bad person but if people like you had ever bothered to listen to my concerns about corporate governance and accountability at the club instead of personally attacking me out of your misplaced faith in our totally incompetent Board, maybe we wouldn't be in this situation. Your priorities have always been: 1st. your online image 2nd. Stynes/Schwab 3rd. the MFC. I am pretty much the opposite.
  13. Ok, let's pretend I am an ex-board member for a moment. What difference would that make? None. If anything, it would make things worse because you would have to assume that I know something of what I am talking about. I know everyone here thinks I am horribly biased - this is not exactly news. But it doesn't change the facts and it doesn't make me wrong. Mods, you are supposed to keep conversations relevant to the thread. We have been through this tedious, irrelevant rubbish over and over again. I should not have to keep pointing this out to you just because my views are unpopular.
  14. Yeah, but bringing the game into disrepute is. None of this matters of course. The court of public opinion and the preservation of Demetriou's own reputation is going to have a much bigger bearing on this case than your obscure paralegal musings.
  15. It means coming out in a room full of people and and actually saying "we need to try and make sure we don't win more than four games, does everyone agree?". It does not mean a discrete one on one with the one or two people who absolutely need to know and saying "it is the strong opinion of the Board that we must prioritise the long term future of the club - do you catch my drift?". I am truly shocked that you are still in denial about our administration's deliberate decision to tank.
  16. The peculiarities of the football industry are cause for greater discretion, not less. It sounds like you are saying it was all simply too difficult for our Schwab and co to handle. I agree. They weren't up to it.
  17. Not sure what the previous Board have to do with anything, do you have an agenda or something? We were in trouble from the moment we entrusted our completely clueless admin with the professional running of our football club. If they haven't been incompetent, why are we in this situation? The AFL investigation to date has not been incompetent because they never wanted to uncover evidence of tanking to being with. I suppose you could say that the AFL is incompetent now that it is all coming out but it seems we made it impossible for them to keep things under wraps, despite their co-operation. The AFL's biggest mistake was trusting our admin to not be complete amateurs. It doesn't really matter for them though because they can always act shocked and betrayed and sacrifice the MFC to prevent the heat reaching AFL headquarters. The penny is dropping for the vault participants that they can't rely on each other to act professionally enough to keep things under wraps, tell a consistent story and maintain plausible deniability. The smarter ones would have known this as soon as Connolly opened his mouth in a room full of people. The penny is also dropping for the AFL that they can't trust the competence of our admin either.
  18. Ok, so how did the disgruntled get that information and who's fault is that?
  19. I certainly don't think they deliberately set out to ruin the club if that is what you're getting at. Be that as it may, ruining the club is what they have been doing.
  20. You sound ridiculous. Of course the number of people you discuss highly sensitive and potentially damaging information with is critical. You would have fit in well in the vault.
  21. So you honestly still think that the admin did not openly discuss their tanking intentions in meetings of 10+ people?
