A homophobe too? Why am I not surprised. Next time you sneak off to attend one of your parties, don't worry about bringing protection - I have no doubt that you will only spend your time trying to insert yourself into people's elbows.
-
And who is doing this exactly? I have utter contempt for people that will endanger our club to try and protect him out of misguided loyalty, cronyism or selfishness.
-
Yes, clearly. How else do you explain the leaks. 2 quick examples: Indiscreet - see the Vault. Poor people managers - see Bailey dismissal. Do you disagree with the assertion that they have been indiscreet and poor people managers? Why?
-
It is clear that you are tying to attack me personally but you are making it difficult for yourself by pretending you have the faintest idea who I am. I believe the expression is: "better to die on your feet than live on your knees" I for one to not want to risk the ongoing existence of the Melbourne Demons Football Club for the sake of Schwab and his mates nor for your juvenile pride. In any case, I would feel no shame as a Melbourne supporter in letting Schwab and his mates accept personal responsibility for their botched tanking efforts. I have however been embarrassed as a Melbourne supporter by Schwab and his mates on numerous occasions, the tanking debacle being only the latest example.
-
I know I can count on your support.
-
I'm sure that's all very stirring, but what if it leaves us in Tasmania in a few years?
-
Well apparently that would qualify me to be the next MFC Chairman.
-
Ok, but what if it leaves us in Tasmania in a few years?
-
Ok but then why do these mysterious people have the information in the first place and why are they upset with the current board/admin? Clearly the current board/admin have been very indiscrete and they have also been very poor people managers. The buck stops with them. That's just the preventative stuff, then there are things like ensuring plausible deniability and having a media strategy to deal with crises. The current board/admin have shown themselves to be inept in these respects also.
-
-
If the Board and Admin aren't responsible then who is? Ultimately the buck must stop with them. This goes for managing club politics as much as anything else - especially when the current group have made so much of "uniting the club". "Inability to keep things in house" is clearly the responsibility of the Board and Admin. Re: Smelling of roses - I take your point, it was an exaggerated expression. I just don't think the "no case to answer" scenario is likely, particularly in light of our aggressive posturing towards the AFL and the other details of the case (e.g. Schwab, Connolly and Bailey are already being asked why they should not face charges). I will be happy if the club manages to escape sanctions, even if this means that Schwab and Co stick around. I still think they need to go but then this becomes a separate matter. Fighting it out in the courts would be a no-win situation however.

The point is Schwab =/= MFC. Just as Harris =/= MFC. Pretty obvious I would have thought?

Let's say you are a major shareholder in a company. The company's CEO and Board have been caught out engaging in dodgy corporate practices. Other companies have been involved in the same dodgy practices but they have not been implicated and are not being pursued by the regulator. This regulator has special powers by the way, even if your company is found to not have a case to answer, they can make the company insolvent anyway. So the CEO and the Board say to the shareholders, "look, we all know we've been caught out here but instead of taking our medicine we will use all of the resources of the company to defend our professional reputations. I know you all have a lot invested in this company and this may ultimately drive the company to bankruptcy but I'm sure you'll all agree that it is the right thing to do". Does it make you a disloyal shareholder to put the interests of the company ahead of the dodgy Board and CEO? Schwab grew up a Richmond supporter. I have been supporting the Demons from well before he arrived on the scene. Why are people prepared to put Schwab's interests before those of the club? Would they be prepared to do this for Harris or McNamee?

In the interests of getting this thread back on track, here are my thoughts on the investigation. I do not buy the argument that the interests of Schwab, McLardy, Connolly and Bailey coincide with those of the club. If there is a way for the club and all persons involved to come out of this smelling of roses then great but I do not think that this is likely. I believe that it is in the best interests of the club for the persons involved to be held individually accountable. They did the wrong thing - not tanking, but getting caught out and letting things get to where they stand now. Obviously there is an added benefit for me in this scenario as I feel the club would be better off without the persons involved anyway but I acknowledge that not everyone feels the same way. Is it fair that the MFC is being targeted like this when other clubs have been as bad or worse in tanking terms? Absolutely not. But so what? Regardless of how you feel about Schwab etc., I think most people would prefer a result where the club doesn't enter a fight with an opponent against whom we can never hope to win (the AFL). It doesn't even matter what you think about the relative merits of the arguments re: tanking, the AFL will always hold the cards long term. I don't want the club to risk draft picks and millions of dollars of fines/costly legal action in order to defend the honour of a handful of people who have led us into this predicament and who we all know deep down are guilty anyway. Over the last few years supporters have donated millions to the club. This money was not donated for the purposes of defending Schwab and Co's personal legacies.

So I had already answered your question and you wouldn't answer mine. Well, that's about it really. I don't recall ever calling you an idiot but I have no doubt that others have formed their own opinions on you based on posts like the one I have just quoted.

Sorry matey but you're just not worth my time. I would have blocked you already but you're too funny.
-
WJ clearly took time out from his response to TimD's point about hypocrisy on the forums to indulge himself it a bit of gratuitous hazy bashing. There are numerous examples of his sniping along these lines. Regardless of how culpable you think WJ was in making me the subject in this thread, I expect more from an admin. I would also expect more from a poster who is pompous enough to use your alias and avatar. Hypocrite.
-
Not my fault if you don't keep up with current affairs matey.
-
Not unfair to pot me in threads where I haven't even posted though, is it? And I see you're still avoid answering my questions and arguments, as usual. It seems you hold me to a higher standard than you hold yourself. You should apologise for derailing this thread with your anti-hazy agenda.
-
Do not be disingenuous. It is unclear if you are currently talking about the Board or the Admin but you have asked me this question before and I have provided a you with a direct answer which is more than I have come to expect from others on here, including you. To paraphrase: 1. Anyone I named would immediately lose the support of the majority of demonland so why would I suggest anyone I would actually want? 2. Why don't we start with the head of your local Girl Guides chapter and then work up from there. We could hardly do worse. You appear to think that criticism of the Board/Admin is not valid unless accompanied by suggestions of alternate candidates for these positions. Is this true?
-
Yes, you should talk about me instead. I have noticed a lot of people doing that lately. Even in threads that I have not contributed to.

Hi ADC, I watched what happened to you and I think it was a real shame. I guess I'm a bit of a glutton for punishment but mostly I just can't stand to read some of the rubbish on here that goes unchallenged and once I pipe up I can't help myself. I've cut down lately by spending less time reading the forum to start with. It's such an echo chamber these days that a lot of it isn't worth reading anyway. (Alternatively, I could be here because of a mysterious agenda)
