Totally agree with you WJ, the truth is unfair and anyone who speaks it has an agenda. Although the Board has had the reins for several years and the Chairman has been removed, it is still way too early to make negative judgements about their performance. However, positive judgments are welcome and should be encouraged to continue. The club has never been stronger, which is why Jackson and the AFL have obviously decided that we don't need McLardy anymore and rewarded him with a holiday. It is despicable how people come on here and criticise administrations past and present - and anyway, everything is Gardner's fault.

He offered a weak, anecdotal defence of the part about other people's opinions on the matter. He did not address the substance of my concerns. I expect better more from a mod than WJ's continual flouting of the code of conduct regarding personal attacks. I also expect more from an an intelligent person of integrity than WJ's continual squibbing of the contest in thread after thread.

No, you need to look at what you are responding to. I never said "that disagreeing with [my] opinion makes one allergic to criticism of the club." I never said that I "would prefer that everyone just shut up and agree with [me]." Don't you see the irony in your post? I am not trying to stifle debate, I am trying to encourage it - that was the reason I posted in this thread in the first place. You still seem to fail to understand this.

As you well know, I have no problem with debating you or anyone else about Gardner. Go ahead and start a thread about him and I will simply copy and paste some of the stuff I wrote a few years back. I do have a problem with Schwab apologists who continue to deflect criticism and derail discussions by constantly trying to shift blame on to Gardner. If Julia Gillard came out in the media this week and sought to blame John Howard for her handling of the mining tax, would you let her off the hook or would you see it as evidence of delusion? Same goes for Schwab apologists trying to blame Gardner.

Binman, I am posting in this thread about WJ's decision to merge critical threads, I am not interested in justisfying why I may or may not want to discuss other topics at other times in other threads. I will however quickly point out that "what is the point making that argument on DL" can apply to anything written on this forum the raison d'etre of which is pointless discussion. "what is the point making that argument on DL" is the forum equivalent of diving by zero and is an invalid basis for argument.

Gardner has nothing to do with this. The fact that Gardner is contantlty brought up as an excuse/deflection years after he left the club speaks volumes for the mentality of the Kool-Aid drinkers on this site. Don't take my word for it on the train wreck front - that was a quote from Garry Lyon less than 2 weeks ago - and he should know - he's one of the drivers.
