Impact mostly on the shoulder. he did not slam or sling him
You may be right. I find it impossible to judge these days but the half-time show compared it to a Harley Reid tackle from last season that brought a two-game ban. They concluded that he (Crisp) may get one because of a lower impact. His head did hit the ground, albeit with little force.

So did they end up following the red white and black team? Or did you eventually persuade the dad?Â
Ha. Sadly, they hadnât really embraced footy last time I heard (and soccer was their preferred option at school). They were living in Craigieburn at the time so their peers were mainly Bomber-leaning. Not good, but theyâve since moved nearer civilisation.

Some good ideas from Kev. On the issue of getting kids on board⊠I was in a pub at Halloween last year full of partygoers wearing demon headbands with red flashing horns. Thought these would be brilliant for kids (and big kids, and the DA) at the G, particularly for a night game with the red horns glowing in the crowd. Get a sponsor to source them (with obligatory logo somewhere to justify their cost) and give them away to kids at the gate? Or sell in the Demon shop? Horned caps? Anyway, Hawthorn had their wizard hats last year so why not?
Other giveaways might be considered to boost attendances. Went to an early season baseball game in the US and a glossy A3 team poster was presented to the first 10k through the gates. A few of these had also been autographed by the team making them a sought after collectible (and on eBay the next day). Â Again, all paid for by sponsors.
Apologies if the horns idea has previously been mentioned or even trialled by the Club. News takes time to get here.
PS: On my last visit to Melbourne, I wanted to take a British Nigerian (now Australian) friendâs two lads to the G to get them on board with the Demons. Dad, an evangelical Christian, refused, clearly worried I would turn them into devil-worshippers.

A good statement that should take the heat off the club (and player) as the season unfolds. The ball is now in the Freo/WC court and we shouldnât need to comment further. Well done Brad. Feel free to further comment the next time the club is unfairly impacted by AFL iniquity (think Piebunal). Weâre tired of being the AFL and media doormats.

Just caught up with the podcast - great work fellas. Â Am now feeling even more upbeat about the season ahead.
Makes me laugh that Clown Cornes canât see how we could be better. How about a revamped game plan? Clarry and âTracc reborn? Â The additions of S, M, L and XL (with three to contribute early?), plus Campbell, Johnson, Henderson and Culley adding depth/cover? Â Not to mention an easier fixture (on paper, at least)?
Anyway, I recall Goody confiding (to Gary Lyon?) in â21 that we could go close with a good run with injuries? Â Iâm getting similar vibes.

Thanks for that! There's not enough footage of the great Hassa, unfortunately.
He was my childhood Demons idol and I proudly sported his number 29 on my first Melbourne footy jumper.
Same. Turned up for school one morning and all the boys were decked out in full footy gear (90% Footscray  as this was Williamstown) but, being a Pom, I hadnât got the memo and was still in uniform. Mum soon sorted it and the following week I arrived in my Demons gear with number 29 on the back. Joined in the game and was immediately whistled for handing the ball to a teammate (er, whatâs a handball?)âŠ

The non free kick against Reid for holding the ball really annoyed me. Thats holding the ball against 99% of players.Â
You canât adjudicate the rules differently because you want him to keep taking the game again. Thats not how it works.
Reid is going to be some player but heâs also set to be the umpiresâ new untouchable darling a la Paddy Cripps.

Nothing went for us in that first quarter. Â Monumental effort to come back nevertheless, particularly off five days.
As for the JVR âfreeâ, simply appalling decision, pandering to their fans in that pocket. And Maysieâs claim of touched?! Â Even BT mentioned they made the call just before a much clearer image became available. And then the two-tier interpretation of the htb rule throughout. Thought most of ours were there to call tbh, but Carlton seemed to get that extra split second to dispose time and time again. Or just drop it.

Petty rethinking that potential crows trade. they look terrible
Twomey has suggested that, given their poor start, Adelaide wouldnât want to have to deal such a high (top 5 atm) pick to us and will wait until his contract runs down in two years. This might actually strengthen our hand in any upcoming extension talks.

That's the things with the Filth.
They fight to get all the hard game out the way early with their draw and then they don't leave melbourne after the half way mark of the year.
So don't get to carried away with this.
Â
You prompted me to check! Â Their last four games are tough - Carlton, Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne - but yes, seven of their last eight will be at the MCG with just the one interstate trip (Sydney).

I still can't get an answer - did the guy who was deemed to have touched it protest that he did? Â It is (conveniently) absent from the footage.
Yes. Kemp immediately tapped his hand to claim a touch but this means nothing as players are now routinely doing this, regardless... A goal was called but ARC will have seen Kempâs claim which may have influenced them to overturn.Â

Some of the confusion stems from the evidence presented by Ch7 at half-time. Evidence that was flawed. I canât upload the clip but in the first still below, the 3rd/4th fingers of Kempâs bandaged left hand appear to touch the ball and, trust me, they did seem to wobble. Ch7 went back and forward in slowmo on this and I was taken in and posted as such on the matchday thread. (Ignore the hands at the top btw, theyâre Hewettâs but heâs actually 2m from the ball.)
Shameful smoke and mirrors by Ch7 as the next shot reveals. His left hand was actually nowhere near the ball.
Indeed, the goal was overturned by ARC because it âwas touched by the right hand of the Carlton defenderâ (although Iâd argue this was inconclusive so it should have stood as a goal). Â
Begs the question though, why did Channel 7 present seriously flawed evidence at HT to support the âtouchedâ narrative?Â

NON-MFC: Round 03
in Melbourne Demons
Had a little flutter on Footscray at 4.80 after the first three Carlton goals. Quietly confident despite the clear umpire agenda.
