  1. Does it worry anyone else that our coaching staff have been talking about our starts all year and there has been no improvement?

as soon as we highlighted in the press about our poor starts and inter-state record, I had a bad feeling

  2. I know that last quarter was utter rubbish from us, but we were stuffed.

Jamar could barely breath, we had Aussie, Morton and Watts who are lacking a bit of fitness, we haven't won an interstate game since 1973 and Port are a good team.

We dominated for long periods of the game and deserved to win. This victory should not be underestimated.

    GO DEES!!!

isn't it also the first time Bailey has coached a win away from the MCG?

  3. Oh yes mark of the year in 2007.

And yes he did put in 4 tackles on the weekend.

    We have a find then.

I notice you couldn't answer the question either DL. You have had six years to work it out now.

What would you expect Mahoney and Schwab to say in public?

I have been watching Newton closely for about 5 years since he started in Sandy 2nds. I was excited once by hints of natural talent. But he has not shown the fundamental where with all to actual make it happen at AFL level. I d love Newton to make it...(Said that 5 years ago too). Still waiting but I dont think he will.

And he has delivered little to date.

no argument that what he has shown to date has been very little. He has however performed the role over the last few weeks that was expected of Brad Miller i.e, big body, presenting himself up forward. He is 22 years old and on his last chance. Lets hope he proves us all wrong. Colin Sylvia took a long time to arrive.

  4. Haha, too true Queen! Some get a little precious if you state the truth though!!!

Let's talk about the positive though - Scully will be a champ. He should be number 1 best player for us today. Great effort in this p!ss-poor team.

Positive is we havent dropped dwon the ladder

  5. I think everyone is missing the point. The draft is the hardest thing to televise in the footballing calander. no one wants to watch name getting read out after name.. long winded and boring. i think they mixed it up and the telecast was for those who did not want to listen to the whole draft. got regular updates, great info from Shifter and got out and spoke with family and coaches. For everyone here who did not like it, there will be plenty who thought it was done well. And i am one of them.

missing the point is the fact that it is a boring event but those who actually want to watch it choose to do so, to actually see the draft read out in the order of picks and see who their club select. With the odd interview of players and coaches thrown in between rounds. What Fox did was quite embarassing for all involved. The reverse order top 10 was a lame and uinsipid attempt to make the event seem exciting and suspenseful.

  6. I will admit I was on this forum expressing how much I wanted Luke Ball, After the the weeks of of silence and now the sheer lack of disrespect shown to the MFC he has now joined my top 5 list of HATED players in the AFL.

For people that want to know who my top 5 is, It goes as follows

    1. Adam Goodes

    2. Stephan Milne

    3. Brendan Fevola

    4. Des Hedland

    5. Luke Ball

surprised you couldnt fit Judd into that list

As for Ball Ireally hope Port Adelaide are bluffing and take him.

  7. I could see this coming. Although I would have liked to see him make the no. 48 his own, this will do. One of our best goalscorers passes down to a player who is most likely going to be our next (hopefully better).

if he had stuck with 48, he would have been forever living in Darren Cuthbertson shadow

  8. You have missed the point. This is the pre season competition and it should be used to give lower teams a heads up so that they can get some membership and momentum for the real season that follows. What is the point of playing us somewhere that our supporters can't get to and against a team that we can't beat. It just condemns us to a struggle once again to get members and sponsors.

The pre-season comp is basically an opportunity for the AFL to play some matches in developing regions to give the game some more exposure when nobody in the heartland is really that interested in the comp at that time of year. Drawing us against the reigning premiers two years in a row is not great but in reality there probably isnt a better time to play them, and we should have beaten the HAwks last year if we hadn't gone defensive in the last quarter in Tassie
