  1. Wasnt fun to watch being a Niners fan I can tell you after half time! Finger nails shredded.

I'm shocked at the Atlanta-NYG game scoreline. Great game by Kirk Cousins deputising for RG3 as well.

Russell Wilson continues to rack up impressive numbers. ROY contender?

Yeah, but they got there in the end, amazing game, I honestly didn't expect my Niners to pull that off.......

I always thought highly of Cousins coming through Michigan State and was thrilled to see him do so well.

It must be very comforting for the Redskins to know that they have so much class even at back up, not all teams have that.

As for Wilson, he is doing great but I think, given the outstanding year rookie QBs have had he will fall short of Luck or Griffen for ROTY.

  2. Bradford will be good, I have no doubt, we need a offensive line that can hold and let him settle and some recievers to have time to get down field a little.

I've always had faith in Bradford, he isn't the issue for the Rams......

But new coach (as well as Sam's third OC in as many seasons) will take a bit of getting used to.

The first half may be a little shakey but despite my need for them not to, I think the Rams will get better as the season goes on.

  3. Heard a bit of news that Terrell Owens is heading to Seattle ? 1mil ? . Be good to see him run around again if true . Have you heard of any last minute player movement's Dappa ? Or anybody else if you're reading this post . pantaloons ? DemonDave ?

I'm starting to get keen for this NFL season to get going ! Though the practice games have already started .

Your blokes had a win over the Steelers ... Packers went down to the Chargers ... San Fran go around tomorrow and Houston the day after ... http://www.nfl.com/

Edit : I found this site (below) for all the player movements but I've no idea how up to date it is ... http://www.fftoolbox...ings.cfm?pos=QB

I feel so sorry for the Seahawk Quarterbacks with TO on the way.......

He has already got into a snip with the coach, Pete Carroll, regarding the number the club assigned him. Funny footage!!!

As for my beloved Niners, they beat the Vikes pretty handily yesterday, but honestly pre-season is not exactly what we want to see. Although it was great to see both our QB's play some good ball. Especially since for a near champion team last year Alex Smith was easily the weakest of his kind out there.

Ha ha ! Roger just far too good . He's just an absolute class act . Long may his career continue .

Be interesting to see where Andy's career goes to now . He needs a slam and I hope he breaks through sometime soon .

    I like the idea of a 'Big 4' .

It's a funny thing when the media talk of the "Big 4" given that Fed has 17 now, Rafa 11, Djoker 5 and Murray......

He is still a class above the rest of the field but if he doesn't get one soon then he may well become that dreaded "best never".

Unfortunately for Andy cold hard reality is that he has landed in one of the most amazing eras of men's tennis and while Federer and Nadal have been going hammer and tong for years now, we

were all waiting to see who was going to step up to their amazing level and enter the battles, Djokovic has done that (his 2011 was astonishing) leaving Murray behind in a kind of limbo.

I would have loved to see him win this Wimbledon and the 11th game of the second set is where it all started to go wrong for him.

Congrats to Fed though, on that green stage he really is the king.

    Anyone else follow the draft?

    I did Dan.....

And I really have no idea whether my 49ers did well of not, given I didn't know many of the names on the list.

The Colts did do a great job. Luck will be sensational, at least he looks ready made and given the fact he has his favourite Stanford target (Coby Fleener) coming along with him.

I would have loved Fleener to come to play for us in San Francisco as a damn good back up to Vernon Davis, while being bigger than the other TE's on the list (it also would have been conveinant for him!!). I also think that the Rams will be far better this season, with a new coach and a raft of offensive linesmen and wide receivers taken in the draft to help Sam Bradford, who was the worst protected QB in the league IMO then when he did get to throw the ball it was inevitably dropped. They should be better unfortunately.

The Browns are interesting as they have essentially replaced their very young (and improving) starting QB in Colt McCoy with Brandan Wheedon, who is closer to thirty and will not have the wonderous get out of jail card in Cleveland as he did at Oklahoma State in Justin Blackmon. In fact outside of Petyon Hillis there is very little going on. As for the Seahawks, they are an odd one. They traded for what seems to be a good albeit nearly untested QB from Green Bay and he will help given what they have had.

The one club that is causing great media question marks is Washington. They traded the world and a pretty good chunk of their present and future draft picks to the Rams to get a hold of their second pick so they could draft someone who they clearly believe is a potential franchise quaterback in Robert Griffen III and yet spent their fourth round pick on another quality QB (and a good on in Kirk Cousins), thus undermining both, especially Cousins who won't take a snap this season. Will be interesting to see how that one plays out........ http://espn.go.com/v...clip?id=7872352

  6. I feel terrible for him personally and as a human being.

    Hadds support rolls in

WE'VE had plenty of feedback with people wanting to pass on their good wishes to Brad Haddin and his family after we told you about his daughter Mia's battle with cancer. Haddin is grateful to all the well-wishers and even thanked this column for its support, which of course he didn't have to do but it shows what a quality bloke he is. Haddin can't thank all of those who have offered their support in person, but he sent me the following text. "At the moment things are very raw and we have a long way to go. We would like to keep things as private as we can. But we are very grateful and appreciate everyone's well wishes from the bottom of our heart. Brad and Karina".

  7. If you want pain then just follow MFC. Wade has had a terrific series in tough conditions. He cant be overlooked. And Queen C in this situation I think you are underplaying Wades contribution. HIs batting on ant bed tracks in the WI against pace and spin was first class. Roach and Shillingford look class bowlers for mine.

I know and understand what all you fine gentlemen are saying......

I'm just not personally sold, yet. That's not to say I won't be in time, but right now for me (just me) there just seems to be something missing.

And I also agree with you Rhino when you say Roach and particularly Shillingford are class. In fact the Windies look to be a team on the rise.

Clarke's hardly going to sack his mate via the press, while he's the incumbent MIA because his daughter has cancer.

I wouldn't read too much into Clarke giving his good mate and NSW teammate Brad Haddin some encouragement in the press.

And I'll read anything I want to into what Clarke says......

Clarke didn't actually have to say anything at all other than pull a PC comment out of his arse. Haddin didn't need to be brought up by anyone other than the press.

And I honestly don't think Wade has set the world on fire, but he has become such a hero. I guess being a Victorian helps him here.

But I disagree with that assessment to this point, so still Paine for me (if that's allowed)

    Please elaborate...

OK, this is the first score of substance (good that it was) and he has been less than able to bat the way that is needed......

His One Day scores were staggeringly slow, good scores maybe but wretchedly slow, and the average for this series has been low, although he isn't alone here.

Now I am not taking anything away from what he did in that innings, because the batting in the Windies has been very ordinary, but I am just not sold as yet.

Wade doesn't instill confidence in me. And Paine, for mine, is a better keeper. He is sharper and cleaner behind the stumps (when he has all his fingers)

Other stuff I can't put my finger on, outside of trusting our captain, but hey, that is all just my opinion!!!

Wades effort just about finishes Haddin off. Dont know what his personal issues are. Paine must be cursing his injuries over the past 6-9 months. Golden opportunity lost for the moment.

Haddin's young daughter has been diagnosed with cancer. She was hospitalised right before the tour started......

This is completely and unfortunately true, and he has been given all the support in the world from his team.

And cricket-wise, century or not I'm not sold on Wade, it's Paine for mine.

  11. Phillies off to a very shabby start. under .500 and bottoming their division.

You'd have to think that their class will come through in due course......

My guys are middle of their division, above .500, after winning two on the road out of three in Oakland.

The A's are doing OK and winning is winning. And when it comes to the Tribe, anywhere, anytime is great!!!

Looking forward to getting Sizemore back soon too :) !!!

  12. I agree that it wouldn't bother me if he were on my team, so hopefully his concussion problems are behind him and he gets traded to the Leafs in the offseason (one can dream...)

OK, for starters, hands off Sid ;) .......

Secondly a lot of his concussion problems seem to have stemmed from a crack in his neck that went staggeringly undiagnosed for months.

Hopefully with that being healed now we can see him back to his best, next year might be pretty good to be a Penguin!!!

  13. I'm sorry. I fully respect how good he is. By far the most skilled player in the game. He just tends to be a bit of a favourite with the refs. Similar to one C Judd.

No probs, I just get sick of the bleating about his injuries being faked and the endless whining about how good he actually is.....

As for the refs, you're probably right but given my team allegiances that, if true(!!) doesn't bother me so much!!!

  14. Ugh don't tell me you're a fan of crybaby Crosby!

Oh for gods sake, I am as it happens.....

You may want to have a little more respect for that  .

Hype is hype but it doesn't change the fact that Denver swapped Tim Tebow for Peyton Manning...

    Ridiculous upgrade.

As for the Denver situation. I find the sheer size and scale of Mannings contract to be completely extreme, but then again it is Peyton Manning......

But at what 37 years old next season, three serious neck surgeries, and a year out of the game, that is a lot of faith ($$) being taken on the fact that he won't break down again, and possibly permanently.

However with Denver being run by John Elway, one of the most beautifully classical quarterbacks that ever graced this game, who I'd imagine would have found it torturous watching Tebow butcher the simplest plays that involved releasing the ball, and seeing the Bronco wide receivers going stir crazy from utter and complete boredom. This would not sit well with the two time Superbowl winner.

Tebow played as well as he could and was kept in most games by a truly outstanding defensive unit, but he is not a good QB, and certainly not in the fashion of an Elway.

Manning is a risk because of his health and age (two very important things) but his skill and class is never questioned and he may just fit with what Denver want out of their offence.

That being said not a pick up without a huge amount of risk, but I guess they genuinely believe the potential rewards are greater. We'll see!!!

And, DD, Ryan is playing a dumb game if he is trying to move on Sanchez - they just extended him - 3 years, $41m...

They are going to do the Tebow Wildcat in close games and when it wins them one game, Sanchez will become the most expensive back-up QB in history...

Yeah the Jets decision making makes no sense to me either......

I don't have much time for Tebow and for my money Sanchez is by far the better quarterback (he can throw the ball afterall).

But the insanity of "Tebow-Time" being ramped up even further on the massive New York stage makes Sanchez's position simply appalling and possible untenable.

One mistake, or slip in form ala last season, which was pretty damn poor especially given the previous years, and his world will cave in on him.a

And I'm not sure how tough he is yet, despite his handling the very insane Santonio Holmes and getting them to two Disional Playoff games.

Then again if he ever want to move back to California, my 9ers will be needing a new QB in due course ;) !!!
