Yeah, I agree but I still think he'd offer more to Carlton than half the players they've got running around on the park. They've coughed up overs for GWS rejects in the past...

fingers crossed then. i can't say i'd be upset to get a pick under 50 for bugg, but i'd definitely be surprised

    Fairly obvious really.

We had players with just speed before....

But yes. Speed and precise ball use will win finals

do they even exist at the moment? people throw up the likes of isaac smith alot, but if every player in the afl was gettable, who has the speed & footskills that the dees need? they're either flakey, fast and have poor footskills (see hunt), only run in straight lines (also see hunt, but obviously a lot of others), or have amazing foot skills like a matt suckling. gaff (especially considering our list demographic) seems like the best bet for our group. he will compliment and not need to really win his own ball. oliver, brayshaw, etc will feed it out to him.

  3. for starters, tyson has no 'grunt'. but as travis said above, tyson can come in and perform in our midfield group. i love hannan, but am a sucker for an enigmatic player (hi jeff!).. not sure that we can consistently play with hannan, garlett, spargo & ANB in our fwd 50. bit flakey for mine. love having hannan in for cameos though.

also, has anyone noticed that hannan hasn't taken a speccie in ages?

His name along with a few other MFC players including Stretch were thrown up last night by Roos on Fox. Was in reference to the Blues turning pick 1 into 5 or more players through multiple trades. I'd be okay with Bugg netting us a pick in the the second round but I'd prefer to keep as depth if any offer is lower than that.

a pick in the second round?! he hasn't played this year in the top side has he?.. 3rd/4th round at best mate.

Keep looking at the ladder and worried about how we win three of the run home (if 13 wins required to get in).....

    geelong next week huge....

WC, Swans, GWS, Adelaide, Geelong all hard games (not sure anyone could be confident in any of those results going our way.

Suns game would hopefully be ok.

So which two games can we wil of the ones above?

cats, swans and crows are potentials i reckon.. maybe even gws at the G, but prob pretty unlikely.

  6. carey (and some other idiot commentators) just say [censored] to get attention.. not thought through at all. no 1 pick for sloane and mckay and another pick from the crows probably would still be pushing it, let alone, vfl players from us.

Mitch McGovern from Adelaide. One of the best contested marks in the comp, still only 23.

If we added him to Gawn, Hogan, T Mac, Fritsch and Lever..   our marking power would be absurd.

yeah, i know who he is. right.. he'd cost a mint though and i think we're still needing 2-3 mids. ah whatever, see how it plays.

I know this may sound trite, but I like the fact that he drives around in an old holden (a very clean one at that).

    inside goss: that was rented.

also, bob is a legend. each to their own though.

  9. put viney on wines. get garlett in there. keep spargo & trac in too. not sure about pedo and t smith.. not sure about the backline. think if we can get on top in the midfield and get out to a lead, we will be ok.. lewis and vince need to deliver smarter. maybe vince dropped for frost? i'd be ok with petty coming in, but frost has done the job before and this is a huge game.

Sam Weideman is coming along nicely and we are really well served for key defenders when you see the likes of Petty, Keilty and Frost playing at Casey.

Petty looks like a fantastic prospect and I expect him to be a long term senior footballer.

wonder what jason taylor will look for in the upcoming draft? nice to know we have the defence sorted now.. maybe wingers and outside mids?

  11. i wonder in what ways bayley can imrprove in the next few years? will he always be that body type, or will he fill out/put on some bulk? i guess that would affect his current game style.. love him. and i thought he'd just be one of those guys that takes speccies every game. much, much more than that!

So we are 96% chance to play finals according to champion data 67% chance for top 4, only we can stuff it up from here, should win today but still have a slight case of mfcss

I'm finding that AFL is too repetitive, and I prefer NRL when Storm play.

I miss the earlier AFL games of the 90's and early 2000's.  When the game was much more spontaneous,  less regimented.

Its too organised for me, these days.

i was watching league back then.. maybe its just a case of 'back in my day, things were better'?

  14. i grew up watching league, but now find it quite hard to watch as its so repetitive, you can tell what's gonna happen each play. with afl, there's so many ways that things can unfold. a great game of league (finals or state of origin generally) is amazing and great live. but, afl has a more consistent product. hopefully with the way that the dees are playing, more teams will start to play an attractive style of footy instead of dour, defensive games.
