Almost no chance Frost’s skills improve by his age. What you see now is what you get. He’s NQR in my view. Handy back up only.

Re Oscar’s purported lack of mongrel, stick May back there with Nev, Hibbo, Lewis and Salem and you’ve got more than hard man slots covered.

Skill errors in the back six cost you big time and potentially mean the difference between premiership and runner-up. Can’t have it.

Think you’re going to find the FD see it the same way.

i don't want to argue back and forth over this, suffice to say both players have deep underlying deficiencies. it's just that personally, i believe that frost's are more easily fixed via coaching and game-time. oscar is soffffft. even if he adds another 5-10kg, he will be soft. he is a great kick, if not a bit slow (decision-making wise), but super reliable and doesn't make brain-fades like his brother used to. HOWEVER, he is not competitive. one of the very few in our team with this trait now (an essential trait of a defender if you ask me!). frost is competitive. sam lacks super-reliable foot-skills and composure now, but i believe they would come, in the same way that oscar has developed his.

re: what the footy dept. will do.. you are probably right. i don't agree with it, but you are probably right. i understand o-mac doesn't need to be overly physical with so many of those types now in our backline. however, in pointing out how much turnovers coming out of our backline kill us, you are turning a blind eye to the one-on-one disasters that o-mac is consistently involved in. whether it be buddy or a lesser forward from a bottom club. the ball moves past him and oscar takes an eternity to JOG back after it. just no desperation. no balls-to-the-wall attitude that we get from hibberd, jetta, and frost.

again, each to their own, this is merely my opinion.

Oscar might not be as dashing and agile as Frost but he has the better skills and is more composed with ball in hand. Much more composed. He may not be the finished article yet but Oscar played some very good footy this season, especially when Lever was up and about and he could play second fiddle back there.

Add May to the back six, get Lever back from injury and watch Oscar thrive with main glare of a key defensive spotlight off him. That’s the added blessing of having tough-ass gorilla-minder like May come into the side. Takes some of the heat off Lever and OMac.

Frost will be the one pushed to the back of the pecking order if May is brought in. Skill level is not at the level for a side with premiership aspirations. Couple of those fumbly turnovers and wonky 30m passes against an Eagles or Tigers and wooshka ... it’s game over.

i'd argue there's more chance than frost improving his footskills and composure than o-mac suddenly finding *hardness*

I personally think the Suns should draft the king brothers and that way they have a reason to keep talent at their club. Both look like guns too.

the king bros will go much lower in the draft i think.. every club from interstate will be put off and some clubs like saints and dees will be put off by the idea of years of development needed for them.. i reckon they may fall to 10-15. rankine could be a surprise first pick. also bailey smith. the other vic kid touted as first is a bit vanilla for mine.. we could even get the vanilla kid at 5 and it would be a good addition, but not ZOMG amazing.

He's a genuine talent, but there's one thing I don't know enough about - his heart.

If he has commitment and determination he'll be a great get.  If he has attributes I associate with pea-hearts like Jack Watts then he won't.

At this stage, I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt, because I've heard nothing that leads me to believe he's a half-dedicated footballer.

DUDE! he is about to be traded/delisted. if that isn't something that leads you to believe that his heart/drive could be a possible issue, i donna knowa whata is-a.

fingers crossed he works out, but not holding my breath. i hope you do though, after dissing other posters on here that have questioned his merits.

I think Burton is a good player and should get them a high 2nd round pick

i'd argue a mid-late first, not that it really matters.. its a lottery i guess. he was taken then, has had development, got over his draft year injury and is a really good up and coming player.

The report that we asked permission to trade our 2019 1st just adds to the intrigue.  I've only seen a couple of posters say this and haven't seen an official confirmation though?  I guess it just provides more flexibility and may not be directed at a specific target.

that will just never ever happen.. worth a try though. why would they let us and no other club? not really fair just cos we might wanna use it to get kelly or something. i'd be happy to get may and a really good kid that's ready to go, just not sure that there will be one left at 5/6 that won't be a flight risk/defender/lanky lad.

Massive no from me. Need a ready made kid if we go to the draft, not a project player.

totally agree. need a fast mid, but looking at the phantom drafts, there's only one or two mentioned.. roezee is the best bet i think.

    Get out

not the one we had wolfy.. this one:

    POS: Tall forward
    Ht 202cm, Wt 86kg, DOB 7/7/00
    From Sandringham Dragons/Vic Metro
    August ranking: 4

King continues his recovery from an early-season knee reconstruction which wiped out most of his draft campaign. The key forward was seen as a possible No.1 contender before the injury struck, and is still likely to be one of the first handful of players selected on draft night. King has been doing his rehabilitation program twice a week using St Kilda's facilities. He is an athletic tall who is as good in the air as he is when the ball hits the ground.

4 and 5 would be a statement. Freo won't do it. Port want their pick 4/5 and Freo want as many picks in top 10 as possible because Lobb, Kelly, Hogan and Hill are all available.

slow list build freo, what can we tell ya?.. just lock in jesse this year and go from there. like we had to do. and we'll take 4 & 5 plus cerra or brayshaw thanks.
