Does anyone know why the postponement happened? Or is that an in-FD matter?

I was wondering about the preference for gambling the left nut, when I realised that the right is nearer to hand.

As a lad I recall being in the stand at Kardinia Park one victorious afternoon giving heaps to the Cats, so much so that a couple of middle-aged Cat supporters urged me to put a sock in it, which I surely did not. Now I'm more sedate and sit with my mates in the Trident seats and my barracking is more sedate, if no less heartfelt.
R&BC, I hope you find a good bunch of mates and give plenty of lip.

Correct if wrong, but I recall that Rowarth was a decoy FF, leading the FB out to the half-back line so Big Bob could drop into the goals. Johnson must have enjoyed that, because I recall he ended his career as a top FF in the VFA.

Just like to point out that autocorrect can

Far too early to tell with most of these predictions, but a Trengove retirement is also an unhappy possibility.

Don't underestimate Shorten. He's a very adept party operator and did an excellent job in the very unsexy disabilities portfolio. He would make an outstanding senior minister in a Labour government. Unfortunately, his ambition and his right-wing supporters have promoted him beyond his proper level.
The Labour membership wanted Albo, the party machine gave them Shorten; I think the members got it right. I think either Albo or Plibersek could lead Labour to a win over anyone the Libs throw up, assuming a reasonable set of policies coming out in the leadup to an election.
My dream campaign - Plibersek v Morrison.

Fair enough, Nasher, but there's a consistency across the reports about Salem, Toumpas, Kent, Lumumba and Hogan that heartens me. And of course, Mr Predictable, NJ.

Our list is looking healthier this year than last, we have greater depth and competition for positions, our new draftees over the last couple of years like Salem, Kent, JKH all deserve game time. If we keep turning over 14 or so players each year and drafting well to replace them with we will have much better depth.
I doubt we'll turn over more than eight this year, possibly fewer. We needed a big cleanout, but it's done and further changes on that scale will just cause instability. No risk of MFC doing that under its present leadership.

The club will wag the finger, the judge will deliver a fine and maybe a licence suspension, and all within the teacup will be quiet again.

The club site says that Jeff is very embarrassed about his actions. Perhaps shame has as much to do with his failure to appear as stupidity, or even more?

Yes!
Congratulations, deefrag, the goat photo is finally published.

So they're of Jewish descent, but not Jewish. Can't emigrate to Israel.

Are you suggesting that we have to adore everything the AFL dishes up LL?
It is a practice match by two groups I have little interest in.
We don't have to be interested - I'm not much interested myself. The point is that it's of immense significance to indigenous footballers throughout the country, not just those in the AFL. These blokes are very proud to play in this game.

American Sniper - bad in so many ways. Eastwood claims it's "... the biggest anti-war statement (in) any film". Chatting to the chair again.

Agreed. In the best of all possible worlds, Ollie is in the Port LG.

But then, if we had drafted Wines, he might have had a career-ending injury at his first training session and we might still have got Petracca and Brayshaw. Endless vistas of speculation...

Lay off Still Waiting. He's sensitive to criticism.

We have a thread about Colin Sylvia, who gives a flying, he ceased to be a player two years ago, let's dedicate a thread or topic to Jack Fitzpatrick, an easy target on here, who has persevered through Chronic Fatigue, serious shoulder issues and Diabetes to keep himself on the list, when others, supposedly a lot better player than him, are being delisted. Let's debate what size balls he has to keep rocking up
I like this very much. It was worth noting what's happened with Col, but I won't speculate on what people got out of keeping it going. And Fitzy is the anti-Col, deserving our commendation however it goes for him.

I've often thought that part of our training woes was that we just weren't good enough and when we trained against each other it just wasn't a good enough contest.
This strikes me as a very important point, flowing from the increased competition for places.

As things stand (3:40 Friday) Turnbull and Bishop have publicly opposed a spill, which probably means it won't get up. Very pleased, I want Tony to hang in and devastate his party's chances, as he inevitably will.
On the other hand, a bad poll over the weekend could turn it about yet again. Deliciously unstable position.
