No sorry you've lost me.  I have represented many women, who have been the subject of domestic violence.  My role on a committee is a spin off from my advocacy.

No time to respond to this now, iv'a, but I'll PM you later.

i didn't think it was ethical to be part of a committee, let alone be the chair and let alone ethics be the raison d'etre

Need must when bureaucracy beckons, as I'm sure iv'a understands.

Understandable.  But Stuie gets away with insulting me and questioning the integrity of what I do, in the area of domestic violence.  Go figure.

The thing is, iv'a, what you write is a bit surprising coming from someone who chairs a domestic violence committee. I don't know where integrity comes into ti.  Then again, I used to chair an ethics committee.  Strange places we can wind up.

  4. If our development wizards can wave the wand over Max King, he could be the answer.  He was drafted to improve our ruck stocks, but it seems he's spent more time as a tall forward.  If his ruck work comes up to scratch, he'd certainly provide a tall option in the forward line.  Not a solution for this year, however.

  5. Jake's kicking was always a liability, but if the goal he kicked at the weekend is anything to go by, he must have improved quite a bit.  It's probably a question of match-ups.  When the other team have a strong second ruck, I'd prefer Jake to Pedo.  In all other circumstances, Pedo's value around the round is much greater.

I'm bemused when Rance apologists say "it was out of character". No, it actually was in Rance's character to forearm a defenseless player to the back of the head when they're lying on the ground. A minute percentage of the population would be cowardly enough to commit such an act, so it's in Rance's character.

I am holding your logical function in an underground bunker, and will release it on receipt of $10,000.  Do not contact the police or the mods, or you will never think clearly again.

didnt say there's no room for criticism at all actually, responded to a post that said if we can't criticise we would have nothing to talk about.

And I'm not all sunshine and roses, I just think it's poor to say the coaches have lost the plot for giving a kid a debut before he's even played a game. He could come out and have 25 and give us some run off half back a couple games in a row and Roos would be a genius for selecting him. Bit of positivity goes a long way, especially from SUPPORTERS.

I manage about 150 people, and I learnt a while ago that your environment can often end up being a direct reflection of your attitude towards it. Theirs enough bagging MFC in the media without the fans constantly turning on the club aswell.

Anyway, best of luck to the kid, Hope he has a cracker on debut and helps drag us over the line (and snots Thomas at some stage)

I take this as a statement of faith other than empirical knowledge, Essendon's performance last weekend notwithstanding.

Undeetered/ Cranky  - I think there is a big difference between thinking he will fail in his come back and wanting him to fail.

We talk most persistently about the prospect of things we most fear or desire.  I'm not persuaded by SWYL's disclaimers - not, of course, that he gives a stuff what anyone else thinks, that's taken as read.

I think it is very hard to judge coaches from different era's

Checker coached when the game was a kick and mark game, in a time where place kicks, drop kicks' stab passes and torps were all the go.    It was a game that part time footballers player on the weekend for a bit of fun and most players had full time jobs.   It was a time when if you coped a knock and had concussion you just got up and kept playing.   The game was stop/start and kick it to the pack.    He was the only coach and had no assistants.

Compare it to todays micro managed professional footballers of today where speed and skill are mandatory,  The whole week is devoted to football, medical tests are just about a daily occurrence, skin folds are measured, players are rested if work loads indicate and there are coaches for every line, there are kicking coaches, ruck coaches, movement coaches.   The head coach needs to manage all this stuff and keep it all together and then face the every hungry media twice a week.

I have captain/coached my own sides with some success and you need to be sometimes tough, sometimes a best friend, sometimes a plick, some times a father figure.

The only thing you are judged on is WINS.

Not so hard to judge, then.  Checker, easily.
