I am only going on what i have heard 2 ex coaches say on Radio...Fatigue will set in around the 10 minute mark of the 3rd Q, with the new interchange.
You guys expect the accelerator to be on flat out all game-it won't happen. Humidity is far more sapping of energy than dry heat.
so do not be too demanding. Solid win with no injuries before the bye will do me.
And yes there is much room for improvement..i am not in any way denying that.
You still don't understand what any of us are saying. Listen carefully.
No one doubts that humidity will affect performance.
What we have pointed out, is the fact that there was no apparent effect on the GC players, therefore it is not an excuse for AFL players (as opposed to GC kids) to blame humidity. If both teams slowed down, then you may be able to attribute the lack of scoring on fatigue/humidity but you can't attribute our performance to it, where the other side are running around as normal.

we havent played a good match all year
bailey needs to be worried
Well there are two sides to this.
Yes, it isnt good enough.
But on the other hand, we will manage 2 wins, 1 draw, 1 loss while playing terribly.
-
When did we last play a full game in HUMID conditions..i get it alright. A night game would have been far easier.
Yeah, because the GC kids are so experienced in those conditions right? Your argument is laughable.
-
Fatigue is always going to happen in the 3rd Q. Get used to it, thats the rule.
You're not getting it. Fatigue/heat/humidity affects both sides!
-
It is Very Hot and Humid up there, so i will be happy with a 7 goal win.
So what if it is hot and humid? Its just as humid for GC players. A doubt the coaches would be happy with a 7 goal win.
-
Unacceptable really. Has been happening for years. We should be 80 up by now.
-
Anybody know why Newton wasn't playing?
Suspended.

I think many people on this site choose to ignore the work that Dunn does off the ball. He has not been close to our worst.
-
Pretty sure the club has said Cheeky will not be used on gameday because of his size.
-
at the end of the day its his word against the bloke who called into the radio. He may well have [censored] on the bar, he might not remember alot from last night!
I think the penalty is fair. Glad he's still available for selection though. I'm sure being stripped of the VC will only spur him on to trying to make amends on the field. watch out Suns!!!
Well apparently the nightclub went through camera footage and confirmed he did not urinate on the bar.

Deserves a shot based on form, but I doubt he will live up to VFL performances

Maybe, God forbid, we dont have a good rerruiting panel
We have shown a distinct preference for soft bodiied devloping athletic types with accompanying nice good boy natures
AT draft time plenty on this site wanted Darling
No hindsight there
Wake up please we have not drafted well
Fantastic. You are even more delusional than others.
Even the people in this thread saying we made a mistake have not gone so far as to suggest we have a bad recruiting department. Every club makes recruitment blunders. At the same time, every club has recruitment miracles. But you can not logically state that our last draft was a blunder, given none of them have played a game.
So tell me jackaub, what of the other clubs who overlooked Darling? Are you suggesting every club has bad recruiters? Or maybe just the clubs whose draft picks have not yet played? They too must have terrible recruiters because their draft picks have not played and Darling has showed something in his first two games?
You are the only one who needs to wake up.
-
Of course, the OP is a no show after starting such a horrible thread.
-
Regarding your second, I think you're being far too lenient. With some kids it becomes apparent very quickly whether or not they are going to stand up in the big time.
I don't think I'm being lenient at all. I would go so far as to suggest it is actually longer. Sure, in hindsight you may find some players that could have been judged very early on (Judd being one example). But equally, there are so many more who are predicted to become star players based on their early careers who never live up to that (McLean, Koschitzke being just two examples).
-
Recruiters, like anyone else involved in the football club, deserve praise when they get it right and criticism when they get it wrong.
If anything, they get off very lightly in terms of scrutiny and seem to just get a free pass for four or five years while we wait for their picks to 'develop'. What a gig!
Are you suggesting, that we got it wrong? That you can conclude from Darling's two games and Cook's zero games, that Darling is the better player and thus our recruiters deserve criticism? Because that is exactly the attitude I was condemning.
As for your second remark. Do you know why recruiters get a "free pass" for four or five years? Because you can't make an informed analysis before then!
-
I don't care if the player is 191 or 195 to be honest. I'd just like someone who attacks the footy like his life depends on it.
I see that quality in Darling.
Well maybe you and all the other experts on here can become AFL recruiters, because apparently none of them have any idea.
I'm not saying he is useless or may not turn out a decent player, but I get tired of hindsight forum experts taking pot shots at our recruiters. We could draft Jesus Christ and half of this forum would prefer player X because they may show attribute Y in their first few games.
-
This thread is laughable. Every club including West Coast overlooked him at least once. That is no fluke. People on this forum have been crying for years about the number of 192cm forwards we have. The club drafts two genuine KPFs and now you want a 191cm forward? Nice one.
-
Don't think it deserved weeks, but Rioli needs to get this stuff out of his game. May just cost him a Brownlow one day.
-
I agree. The advantage rule is an absolute shamble. Terrible foresight once again by the AFL and Rules Committee.
-
Yeah right. There is nothing in what he says that inspires. The team would start a qtr, any qtr better if he did. I'm yet to see one since he's been in charge.
Worse sides than us play better from a coaches inspiration.
Biggest throwaway line ever. Ridiculous claim that is impossible to back up.
How would you know whether he inspires? I've seen teams with the supposed "great" coaches put in worse performances.
-
We've been caught out doing some funny spy tactics to the Hawks over the years.
Fair game as far as I'm concerned. Pretty tough to have a closed session these days.
-
Bailey out? Get a grip, the players are the ones who should hang their heads in shame after that third quarter. Nothing Bailey could do when the game is played in Hawthorn's 50.
Maric was average yet again. Would be surprised if he survived.

The earliest emblem listed on that site is 1977. Though, I'm not sure if clubs had emblems/logos before that.
Does have all the jumpers.

Not sure about others, but I have a heap of trouble with the afl.com.au videos.
Been waiting for an official YouTube channel for a while now. 7 videos already posted already, including some good footage of the Prince's visit.

Apologies if this has already been posted.
