  1. The will not be a payout issue as he would not break a contract - simply agree to part company, hopefully accepted by the St.Kilda board. They can sue him for 'specific performance' , which simply means a legal manner to make him stay one more year, but in those circumstances would be unlikely to be invoked.

Actually, a court would NEVER grant specific performance for a contract of employment.

If he was to accept an offer (if one has even been made), no legal action would ensue. Last thing St Kilda would want is prolonged press coverage over the preseason and into next season. Especially one where they have only minimal prospects of minimal damages. Only thing that would save St Kilda is a clause to the effect of "you shall not work as a senior AFL coach within twelve months of leaving St Kilda' - but Lyon should get a new manager if he ever agreed to such a thing!

  2. I hope that doesnt mean we have to pay his contract out!

Why would we have to pay? We aren't breaking any contract. St Kilda will not sue him if he left, so no pay out required.

But on topic, I'm not sure I like the idea of Lyon.

  3. The negativity is there for a reason.

I'm not going to reveal anything else. Things will come out if G.Lyon does his job and I'd say Schwab will be the first to go.

I'm sure it is, but why perpetuate it while inferring you know more than we do? Especially on one of the better days the MFC has had for a few weeks.

  4. Of course. I won't be seen at the club or have any dealings with the current administration.

Honestly... Either provide some information, or stay quiet. Stirring like this just adds to the already abundant negativity around here.

  5. I've placed a bid for Aussie in the silent auction but I have no idea what that entails if it ends up the winning bid. Jack Watts is the most popular by far.

Anyhow, they're collecting plenty and I hope it's appreciated by the players.

Tsk Tsk, using the iPhone :)

  6. While the reported figure appears great (and surprising), our inability to retain Kaspersky or Hankook beyond their first deals is concerning. This is especially so for Kaspersky as they are actively expanding sports sponsorship in Australia (see Manly Sea Eagles).

  7. To be honest I can see why. It was crappy in the morning, we haven't played well against good teams.

Starting to wonder why we shell out over $1000 a year in memberships and travel to watch this. I can watch every game next year live on Foxtel. How many people are going to cancel memberships?

    That's the spirit.

  8. I seem to be alone (or close to it) in thinking Walker's mark should not win MOTY.

Sure it was a great mark, but people talking about "best in 40 years"..? It was a chest mark! That ruins it for me.

  9. Most of you are being very naive about the whole process... There are 44 players on a playing list. The FD can't throw unlimited money at every promising player we have and hope we end up under the cap. With uncertainty surrounding Scully, it becomes very difficult to manage the contracts until that is settled.

Every club has a couple of delayed contract negotiations each year, nothing out of the ordinary here.
