  1. In news just in - an auskick player representing Preston primary school has been been interviewed by Brett Clothier for the fourth time about his observations of the demons body language as they ran out onto the field in the 2009 game against the tigers.

Sources advise that Timmy told investigators 'the red and blue players looked sad'

Fairfax Media understands that Clothier stopped the recording at various times to remind Timmy that his future as Year 5 SRC Rep is at stake.

  2. Great story. Can't help but admire his determination to succeed. That, combined with his obvious talents on the footy field, make him well worth a punt imo.

Not sure that I would admire his determination to succeed. He has known/been told for many years that he had the potential to be drafted, yet did not work hard enough and was ultimately passed over when first eligible.

Good luck to him though, he could be a great player.

  3. Well it was certainly a different angle on it.

But the last two sentences changes much of what was said before it:

However, this week's report that there was a tacit agreement among the coaching staff not to win games takes the matter to a new level. If proven, a grey issue turns into one that's black and white.

  4. Yes indeed it would flush them out and I hope when it does they are never allowed to set foot in the Melbourne Football Club; ever. These moral crusaders pretend that it's all in the best interests of the club but we know it's about payback and position.

Their names will come out and hopefully they will never again be able to have any say in the future of the club, ever.

There are some nasty, bitter and twisted individuals potting the club right now.

Court will not necessarily flush out the sources. I actually think it more likely the source would be protected. The High Court have affirmed this protection. Though, lower courts have held that a source may be uncovered if necessary in the interests of justice. I'm not sure that would be the case here.

Regardless, I doubt the MFC would want this to continue any longer than it needed to and I would hope that the MFC would know better than to take on a media company. I wouldn't want The Age offside in a town dominated by just two newspapers.

  5. State Government would not want to nail the MFC. The State Government is proud of Victoria of being the sporting capital of the country.

I highly doubt that they would scrutinise the biggest game in the country by nailing the oldest club with the most history.

They would if the case against us was strong enough. Or if there was votes in it.

However sanctions by the AFL is not evidence of match fixing.

  6. I cannot fathom how the MFC (or whoever gave the directive to tank) could possibly think they could keep a meeting secret when 10+ people were present. A meeting between 1-3 people can be easily kept secret, covered up, or denied. But 10 people?! How do these people have a job in football?! Considering how much information gets leaked from football clubs - how could they have thought a room of coaching staff (that are likely to have short stays at the club) would remain silent?

No one (including the AFL) would deny other clubs have been involved in identical tanking behaviour... but it sickens me that the club would be so amateur in failing to cover their tracks.

  7. I feel the same way 'Roost It' and have for a fair while now. I think Neeld and the new FD will always be pushing up hill unless changes are made, we had the chance to clean the slate after 186 and blew it by taking the easy option to sack the coach. He should have been joined by another couple at that time. Yes it would have caused a level of instability but nothing like the instability we have faced over the last year and a bit that is still not settled.

Agreed. Big changes are needed, and I'd be surprised if they don't follow soon after the AFL's response.

Schwab's involvement in this saga is unclear. However, it's hard to imagine him not being involved - given the rumblings of his unwelcome football department involvement early in his tenure.

  8. The quotes from the unnamed player:

"It was disgusting what was going on and you felt for Bails because everyone knew he was under the pump to lose," said the player, who the Herald Sun agreed not to name.

"Players had meetings and asked him what was going on but there was nothing he could do.

"The club had a plan. They wanted the two kids, (Tom) Scully and (Jack) Trengove and you just shook your head.

"You'd work your butt off in the pre-season and hang up all these words in the gym and the change rooms or whatever and what did it all mean? Nothing.

"Players were never told to lose. They were just rested and played out of position. (Backman) Matthew Warnock would play full-forward and (forward) Paul Johnson would play full-back."

  9. Dees Dayz delisted after 52 years and a 12 month suspension.

Hi guys, I’m back after being suspended from this forum for 12 months.

I was suspended for disagreeing with a potential Mick Malthouse signing for 2012 as coach, which was generally supported by the lexicons of this forum.

I was further ostricised by comments I made that one could not disagree with any Rhino Richards comments who seems to be epitomy of the culture of this forum ( a moderator) and perhaps the MFC.

    All of that is fine!

I have been a MFC supporter since 1960 when I was 7yo. I was a gold member of MFC to 2011.

When I was tossed out of Demonland, I discussed with my wife and family what we thought the culture of MFC was, and further, how MFC relates to regional people whom are not MCC members etc.

I declined membership of MFC this year while I decided exactly why I have supported the MFC for 52 years.

I will be signing up with The Richmond Football club as a member in 2013.

Obviously I won’t be returning to this forum. My children and grandkids can decide whom they wish to follow for themselves

    If true - good riddance.

  10. The AGE reporting that Port nomited both Daniher AND VIney with its pick 7 in order to force Ess and Melb to use their picks 10 and 26 to secure their F/S players.

I thought multiple bidding was outlawed to stop exactly this kind of thing?

ANYONE CONFIRM WHAT THE SITUATION IS?? (oops sorry bout the caps)

Bids are still done one at a time though. Port would have bid #7 for Daniher, followed immediately by Essendon's response to take him as F/S. Port are then able to re-bid #7 on Viney.
