  1. I've mentioned him a few times already, so thought I'd give him his own thread seeing as I'm on a role. Mature age ruckman/forward has been around the WAFL scene with Claremont for a few years now (must have played with Hogan) and has had a breakout year this year. http://www.wafl.com.au/players/view/4672 Not bad numbers for a just turned 21 year old big man. Approx 2 goals, 6 marks, 12 possessions, 13 hit outs and 2 tackles a game. Fits the bill of what we need. I'd be willing to take him late in the national draft with our 4th round pick to make sure we get him rather then risk him being there in the rookie draft. He has Callum Sinclair written all over him from a few years back. Cameron could potentially play from Round 1 and go along way to fixing our structure issues with the forward/2nd ruck role. Brief description on him below re: his invite to the combine this year. Anyone seen much of him at WAFL level? Darcy CameronClaremont204cm/104kg18/7/95Cameron was overlooked at the 2013 NAB AFL Draft with a query on his pace and his consistency in competing. But he's improved those aspects of his game and presents as a mature-age tall who is able to play in the ruck and in attack. 2. With all the talk about our need for a 2nd ruck who can play forward, I know his name's been mentioned, but surprised there's been no thread started. http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-08-30/dockers-ruckman-zac-clarke-weighing-up-a-fresh-start http://www.fremantlefc.com.au/player-profile/zachary-clarke Free agent, and will be exploring his options. At 203cm, 96 kg, 101 games under his belt and turning 27 at the start of next season he fits the bill. He's reasonably mobile for a big man also. I agree that only 46 goals in 101 games isn't brilliant, but the change of scenery could certainly help. Even if he only kicks 1 a game, he should help our structure and could play more as a decoy forward for the likes of Hogan, Garlett & Watts. Would allow Gawn to spend a bit more time forward also. Given the only cost would be salary cap space, I reckon a slightly generous 2 year deal to get him to the club should get it done. Then after 2 years you can actually pay him what he's properly worth. Hopefully by then Mitch King has developed a bit more and if we draft one of or both of Dacry Cameron & Oscar McInerney who may be ready for serious game time. Clarke may not even be required by then anyway and I certainly prefer him to Vickery! Thoughts?
  3. I would be keen to get the thoughts of Landers over what we have invested in. The last questions surrounds that investment as I have my concerns over those who say that Clark is a back-up ruck/forward - I don't think that position requires such a massive investment.
  4. So I notice that people are kind of worked up about the Cloke question. Putting Cloke aside (and Cook for that matter), and assuming that Neeld is dead set on drafting another big forward, who else is realistically available? Here are a couple being thrown around on bigfooty to get you started (not that I'd want all of them). Who's missing? Kurt Tippett (Adelaide), 202cm, 25 yo Pros: Proven talent Kicking bags Immediate impact Can ruck A good age Out of contract Cons: Recent concussions Will cost us to trade Shaun McKernan (Adelaide), 196cm, 21yo Pros: Can't get a game up forward due to Tippett, Jacobs and Walker Cheap trade Young Can take a grab Can ruck Cons: Unproven (limited opportunity up forward) Daniel Merrett (Brisbane), 195cm, 27yo Pros: Unrestricted free agent Versatile Can ruck Aggressive Immediate impact Cons: Short term solution - a bit old Not a big goal kicker Not a natural forward Jesse White (Sydney), 196cm, 24yo Pros: Cheap/Free trade Aggressive A good age Can ruck Cons: Averages < 1 goal per game Unproven (has had opportunity) Obligatory inclusion in these types of posts for the last few years Nick Salter (Port), 190cm, 21 yo Pros: Proven goalkicker in SANFL Natural forward Long, accurate kick Can't get a game up forward due to Schultz and Butcher Cheap/Free trade Young Cons: Currently injured Frequently injured Unproven (limited opportunity up forward) Scott Lycett (West Coast), 202cm, 19yo Pros: Can ruck full time Young Can't get a game behind Kennedy, Darling, Naitanui, Cox, Lynch A goal with his first kick (I love it) Cons: Unproven (still very young) Re-signed for 2 years in June (probably not realistic) Not a cheap trade Quentin Lynch (West Coast), 192cm, 29yo Pros: Consistent veteran Immediate impact Ruck rotations Free agent (I think) Cons: Probably won't want to leave WA Short term solution - too old Charlie Dixon, (Gold Coast), 200cm, 21yo Pros: Rumored to want to leave Young Aggressive Can ruck Versatile Gold Coast must cull list Cons: Unproven as an AFL standard full time forward Interest from other clubs, not a cheap trade Lachie Hansen, (North Melbourne), 197cm, 23yo Pros: A good age Good in patches Versatile Has shown continued improvement Cons: Lacks aggression Not consistently an AFL standard forward Not a natural forward
