Seemed to be quite a light session. Wouldn’t rule out those not completing a full session.

spoke to Maysie, he admitted his body was fairly sore. Incredible that he is playing through that much pain.

a kid asked Oliver if he was playing this week. He was taken aback by it. As if he had no idea why he’d be asked the question. So, I assume we can lock him in.

one whack for the Club though - there was a designated 10 + year members area. It wouldn’t have been in a worse spot. On a slope with little vantage at all. At the end, when plyers came to sign, Max didn’t even make his way over to that area. Given that it was described as an exclusive area for our loyalist members, it seemed that MFC staff had no coordination of what was going on.

WCW, the snags were beautifully cooked.

Yes agree on the 10+ year area. Too crowded and poor visibility. I chose to go elsewhere on the fence. Were there any of the briefings from MFC coaching staff as promised in the email?

  2. I have never understood why no one at 2 clubs has ever tried him down back as an intercept defender. He did play some good games for Casey as a ruck I think. The guy has ability, he has size and is mobile but he doesn’t have that aggression and swagger you need to be a KPF.

Can someone please tell the MCG staff to TURN THE PA SYSTEM DOWN.

    CAN'T HERE MYSELF THINK.

I know it's been this way for several seasons, but seriously it's ridiculous.  Doesn't improve the experience, it makes it worse.

    I need hearing protection!

Ugh was hoping danger would miss & Saints would run it down the other end & kick a goal.

It was a good kick by danger though

Rubbish free kick though. The Saints player was desperately tracking the ball and then Danger runs over the top of him. Hey dangerous [censored] happens sometimes.

  5. Surely 41 points is defendable in the last quarter? Although I know we lost from that lead 42 pts against Sheedy’s Essendon, back in the late 90’s I think. Swans just need to manufacture 2 goals early to stamp out any comeback.

It's probably the same as when the ball hits an umpire, it's play on.

Channel 7 just clarified the situation. If the umpire sees the ball hit the camera or cables it should be a ball up. If they don’t see it, it’s play on of course. So in this case it seems all 4 umpires didn’t see it!

Gee poor yze. Was I said last week welcome to coaching.

I just caught the last quarter. Bolton in the final seconds I thought was going to get through but he forgot to take the ball.

And where was Dusty in the last 10 minutes? The Tiges had a fair share of it in their half forward but Dusty, no where to be seen when he would normally turn a tight game on its head.

I hate that stupid in the back rule from a legitimate tackle that would otherwise be HTB

Yes that is not what the rule was brought in for. The guy was caught cold and they both went forward in the tackle. Free kick holding the ball FFS.

When Sydney switched they moved it with speed and purpose.

When we switched (rarely) we stopped and propped, giving time for Sydney to cover.

Also, nearly every time we go to Max. Its so predictable and sooooo frustrating. (We will cop a battering this year and we are playing with the injury fire every game.)

So much so that our players don't even bother to run to space. The number of times that we had a loose man for short hit up that was totally ignored was also frustrating.

When leads are ignored players stop doing it. Hence we look stagnant with no player movement.

Like last year totally opposite to how we played in pre-season.

It's like ***** groundhog day with this team

And the few times we do switch from the full back line, the second and third overlap players aren’t there for it to succeed, instead the first receiver on half back stops and has to identify a target as the opposition floods back. We don’t seem to have a set play for it, where a number of players would know to just run to space as soon as they see the first move.

Seriously any AFL footballer is likely to murder all but a very few posters here. I played with a guy in juniors who "only" made AFL Reserves level but he was honestly 10x better than me.

Yep. Remember Grigic played 90 AFL games, that’s 90 more than most here. I remember in my 20’s lining up at half back on a 16 year old Con Goridzidis who only managed 30 games for St Kilda. I think he  had kicked about 4.6 before I was dragged off him at quarter time! He was just so much faster and stronger at 16 than the other 35 adults playing, it was extraordinary. Finished kicking about 8.10 I think.

There's no karma in footy. The only way it'd be equal karma is if m*****d was one on one in the backline and we were 3 points down with 10 seconds left and he did his knee and we kicked the winning goal by running past him helpless on the ground. Then I'd believe karma exists in footy again.

I would rather it was a legitimate shirtfront that took him out. But is there such a thing anymore? Oh sorry think it’s a No, unless you are executing a flying smother, front on at high speed and turning your shoulder 90 degrees to maximise the damage at impact.

I don't think he spat the dummy, I think the club were relying on him playing more time forward as he got older to protect him and make the combo work. Unfortunately Max is a poor forward, way to innacurate from set shots and takes the shots on the run he should be handing off. Played out of his skin in the 21 Prelim which set a ridiculously high standard that it's impossible for him to reach again.

We weren't gonna dump Max so when him playing forward for larger parts wasn't an option we tried to shoehorn Grundy into that role. He's not a natural forward either and when we dropped him to the VFL to improve his forward craft I think he probably saw the writing on the wall and checked out. That's why he didn't play finals, even as a sub.

Interesting take that you think a professional footballer would check out leading into a finals series. He did all the training as I remember it and seemed to be getting on with his team mates during those finals training sessions.
