  1. It amazes me that so many are willing to judge the guy without knowing all the facts. It's so easy hiding behind the names you create for this site. Remember, the AFL / VFL is littered with players that have made bad choices in life. Cousins, Gardner, Fisher, Swan, Hall even the great Gary Ablett. Years ago it was Banks and Millane. Martin has made bad decisions for reasons none of us know, but he is an outstanding footballer with a lot more to give. What has happened to him recently maybe just the wake up call he needs.
  2. He's not worth pick 2 , GWS would have to offer more, I think Roos and co are astute enough to make sure we get what is best for the club. As a side, I heard Terry Wallace talk up a guy Lambert from the VFL anyone know about him
  3. Thankfully, far more knowledgable people than the posters here will make the decision on who we draft. It appears that people forget that kids do get off the rails from time to time, but in most cases they get back on track. Martin is a kid who will realise that he can either focus on his football and become an "a" grader or he will fall by the wayside. IMO, he has so much more to give and whoever gets him will get an absolute star. Hopefully Roos and co have the confidence that they can bring the best out in him.
  4. Terlich is far too loose, Balantyne is all over him. Can't kick....or find a target....not up to AFL standard .
  5. Robert Walls said on SEN, that he believes that Leigh Matthews could be interested in another stint at the Lions...the plot thicnens
  6. One of the few who realises that our forward line could be fragile. We need to look at progressive gains. From all reports, Boyd is a standout. If we get a PP or first pick we grab him. There is no guarantees on Clarke and Dawes is injury prone. With Boyd coming in we can afford to look at trades and draft picks for mids. We need more than one dimensional mids, we need players who can also move forward and hurt the opposition. The downside of most of our current mids is they cannot go forward.
  7. Watched the game against West Adelaide, thought Durmont was far better and harder at the ball than Aish. As a side, Taite Silverlock from West Adelaide appears to be a hard in and under type with a great left boot. I believe he was at Essendon a couple of years ago. Does anyone know about this guy?
  8. Did we not have Hancook a tyres are a major sponsor at one stage and they dropped the sponsorship due to Schwab. Could be time to mend the wounds.
  9. If we get the 1st pick, then we take the best and it seems Boyd is a standout. We do need mids, but one important thing that everyone is overlooking is our ruck stocks. All of of rucks have significant short comings in their games. If you look at the top eight sides, they have rucks who win taps mark around the ground, support in defence and kick goals. Who do we have? Even with better mids, we need rucks who can get the ball to them.
  10. All the Chris Yarran lovers should look at his stats. Apart from 2011 his averages are well below those of a gun as so many say. He certainly goes missing and is not a midfielder. The numbers speak for themselves.
  11. For those so anxious to trade Fitzpatrick, consider he has not been able to complete a full preseason yet and has had his share of setbacks early in his career. He has been a revelation so far this year and he has a real upside. As his confidence grows his games will continue to improve. To even think about a trade for Yarran is an absolute joke. Yarran does not have an upside for us at all. He is struggling under Malthouse. The last big man Carlton traded was Josh Kennedy and how that has come back to bite them. Trading Fitzy could have the same result.
  12. Why do so many on DL want to make nonsensical trade. Dawes and draft pics for Gibbs. Someone threw Watts or Fizpatrick for Yarran. Total joke. Regardless of who coaches in 2014, they will keep as many of the talks as possible. The guys who could be looking for a new home are Spencer and Jamar. The rest we keep.
  13. We keep playing the guys who fail. Nicholson, Trengrove, Bail are not up to it. Turn them over and leave them in the twos. Byrnes only has a left foot, gets caught all the time. Tom Mac, what is he doing, the worst decision maker in the side. Lets give Tynan, Fitzpatrick, Dawes, Toumpas and Davis in next week.
  14. We are where we are, but at least it forces the Match Committee to try some of the guys who are contributing at Casey. Disappointed Fitzy didn't get a run. He would be a better option than Spencer. At leash Jack Watts will get a break from the pathetic posters on this site that just want to bag him,
