If we are under great pressure then we're pretty laid back about it compared to some of the others.

I once asked the question at an AGM about Irish recruits and was told it was an expensive exercise. It might have been 10 -15 years ago but if you pick the right player it can be a bonanza.

Rest assured that on draft day, our picks will be somewhat different to 5, 13, 24 and 32.

I haven't been down to Goschs but I'm intrigued by Lord Nev's observation as he drove down Punt Road this morning that ... "all the players were out, all the cones etc were setup and there looked to be an electronic scoreboard/screen setup - probably about 3m x 2m as a really rough guess."
Kev Martin's gone on holiday till next year ... is there anyone who can enlighten us about this strange phenomenon?
For that matter, any other news from the Paddock?

Tim Lamb is a former police officer who won't put up with rubbish.
I expect he may even be looking at his legal options after being publicly defamed by Kane Cornes and called a liar.
Anything happen with this?
What chance is there of Port Adelaide getting Kozzie next year now that they’ve got Junior Rioli and not much draft currency left?

Have you been following his junior career closely or are you able to post some more highlights that showcase the class people speak off?
Yes, I have been following his career closely and his ball use since he was a junior schoolkid has always been elite.
BTW, I don't expect Melbourne to get a high enough draft pick to secure him so you can enjoy bagging whichever club does recruit him next month.

George Wardlaw’s highlights reminded me more of Trac than Tsatas’s.
Wardlaw = powerful, Tsatas = frantic
Therein lies the problem. Wardlaw is the same type of player as Trac and a few others getting a regular game at Melbourne. Tsatas is all class and fills a void at the club. That element of speed and skill is just what we need (as do a dozen other clubs).

If he played for Essendon's VFL team he might have come across Brayden Ham. They would have made a good combination.

In AFL media speak, this is one of the expressions that doesn't have an opposite. The media will regularly tell us who the "good clubs" are but never who the "bad clubs" are. Similarly, we regularly hear when someone is lucky because they play with a team with a "good coach" but we never hear about a player being unlucky to have a "bad coach".
I suspect the same media types don't believe in Isaac Newton's Third Law, either.
I don't think Melbourne would have been considered a "good club" for a young player to go to a decade ago but we certainly are these days and it would be a pity for Andrew to miss out on the opportunity to learn and develop as a ruckman under Max and Luke.
I hesitate to mention it but I doubt whether some of the interstate clubs would be good for him but let's wait and see.

Looks a real prospect but would he be available at pick 17.

Online article on Taj on his combine, he's quick over 20. Quote from Taylor included.
Thanks Darkhorse72. The link works but I can't open the link to get all of the other stories. If possible, could you provide an open link to all of the combine results please.

Anyone have any information on why Bailey Laurie didn't play on the weekend?
I think the Official Secrets Act is in force.

Looking at these photos no one can question whether Pickett trained in his time away. Looks really trimmed and fit.
Kozzies hairstyle makes him look a good few cms taller. He can now safely go into the midfield.

We and Essendon were screwed by the frenzy in 2020.
Would there be any chance that we could ask the AFL to give us some consideration as a result in 2021 by ensuring no 4 day breaks?

Anyone think we're going to use pick 50?
-
Pick 75 should do it - unless it's part of a player swap.
-
Looks like he's going to the Hawks so the horse may have bolted.
-
Given that there are going to be some additional picks available through free agency compensation plus a number of picks moving through trades and all the way through to draft night, I wouldn't be studying the current draft positions too closely because they aren't going to match the final draft order.

Why the Demons can rise above off-field drama in 2024

It's not just because he's tipping us but because he understands what culture means in a club. Think back 12-15 months ago and Collingwood who had issues with De Goey and Ginnivan as well as ongoing off field issues with racism. The club dealt with those things while the playing group kept its eyes on the ball and played the game the way it should be played.
Concerned about culture? Think a club like North Melbourne with its many young players, the very talented player they just lost and the bloke who's coaching them. Good Lord!
