To the contrary, it was Richmond's decision not "to come to the party with a 4th year on their offer". I would suggest that this should also be Melbourne's decision. It's lunacy to pay that sort of coin for a player like Warnock. End of story.
-
I thought a journalist in the Australian wrote last week that he already nominated his preference for Carlton. Is it possible that a journo could get things wrong? (BTW Warnock played 7 WAFL games this year and didn't score a single vote in the Sandover Medal. I wonder how many votes he polls in the Brownlow?)

Bell is better than Bentley.
-
Now that all the hoo ha about Warnock is over, let's concentrate on getting what we need most - an elite midfielder. Get Rich!
-
Get Watts? Not only did we get Watts and Warnock but we've won the 2009 and 2010 flags!
-
In other words, McNamee is learning from his experiences at Melbourne.

Great report and even greater is the contribution that your group has made to the club. Well done to the Ballarat Demons!!!

Schwab declines CEO role and other things
Demon Head replied to warren dean's topic in Melbourne Demons
You're very selective with your dates, times and facts Boi. Let's not forget that the "new" board at the end of 2003 was an extension of the Szondy board of 2001-3 and the 4 subsequent years of profit (the last of these was well below budget and thanks to the accounting methods adopted only just in the black) were achieved only because it was being propped up by the AFL to the tune of $1m - $1.5m annually. Had the club had access to that sort of largesse from the AFL in the 5 years 1999-2003 we would have been sitting on a handsome surplus now instead of wallowing in $5million in debt. If vehemently supporting your club is "misguided" or obsessive that's fine by me. Fact is we need to start supporting our current well credentialled board and give it a fair go. You and your anti-Stynes cronies are content to bag them and conveniently chose to ignore what they've achieved to date i.e. wiped off this year's loss in a month - but that's OK, just keep on sniping. BTW Jimmy replaced P.Mac with P.Spargo who is doing the job for free and I believe Philips is still helping the club so what's your point? -
Schwab declines CEO role and other things
Demon Head replied to warren dean's topic in Melbourne Demons
Technically yes but wrong because Stynes' public comments about candidates have been completely misrepresented by his detractors. This is what Jimmy really said: "Well, right now we're in the marketplace for a new CEO and we will be putting it out there to anyone who is interested in the position," he said. "I would hope that people like Cameron Schwab and Stuart Fox would be interested in this position and would apply for it. "I'm very confident that we'll attract someone that can do the job." - Stynes wants Schwab, Fox in mix http://melbournefc.com.au/tabid/7415/defau...px?newsid=63987 In other words, he wasn't offering the job only to his so-called "mate" Schwab but issuing an invitation to all quality candidates out there in the marketplace which is exactly what we would expect in the circumstances. It's far, far better to be described as a "starstruck leg humping sycophant" than to constantly snipe at a newly installed administration that appears to have been left with a substantial amount of poo to clean up; poo that's considerable and deep thanks to several years of "mates" like Szondy, Ellis and Harris that just happened to leave us in the red to the tune of $5m and beholden to the AFL for every decision that needs to be made (even the appointment of the tea lady). Well, just in case you've been under a rock for the past month, the new board has already raised about half that figure in two months. That's an effort worth leg humping for any time of the day even if we have a long way to go to clear the decks. And as for your post, it's long on asides, irrelevancies and speculation but fails to address the point I made but then you're so obsessed with bringing Jimmy and his board down you don't care what damage you inflict on our club along the way. Let's not freak out about the appointment of a CEO. The decision is of immense importance and Jimmy shouldn't be in too much of a hurry to make an appointment. After all, we don't want someone appointed who ends up leaving unpaid tax bills in the bottom of his drawer like your mates MATE. That's what I call "Amateur hour." -

Schwab declines CEO role and other things
Demon Head replied to warren dean's topic in Melbourne Demons
[censored]! Happell neglected to say that Stynes was also courting Fox at the same time and if this really was a case of bestowing patronage on a mate, then the mate would have responded positively to the Stynes offer. Happell's entire story was more or less a beat up based on the revelation of an apparently disgruntled former player whose ability has been magnified to the nth degree by Happell who was doing a good job of editorialising but nothing more. I have no problem with constructive criticism of our board but the people who put forward this discredited "mates" line are doing their club no favours. Moreover, it has all the hallmarks of someone tasting sour grapes by the bucketload. -
He would be doing the kid a favour. Milkshakes are fattening.

Fremantle can squawk as much as it likes. If they think they're innocent in terms of poaching players then they might want to consider names like Troy Longmuir and Jeff Farmer ... or even Troy Simmonds.

Incredible statistic. You don't even get numbers like that when a Victorian team visits an interstate club!

Another nail in the coffin of dills like Charles Happell who came up with that conspiracy theory about the old mates from the 1990's all getting back together again. -
Cordner-Eggleston Cup - Friday's Pre Match Curtain Raiser

When and where is the APS v AGS match? Is Jack Watts playing? -
Not hard for a lowly team to suffer defeats by an aggregate of 200 points against the likes of Geelong and Hawthorn. It's not over yet!
-
History tells us that things can change quickly and unexpectedly. Geelong's first quarter effort was bettered by their first quarter v Melbourne in 1938. Who do you think won the grand final the following year?

So you reckon he goes all right? -
I think a trade for someone like Michael Newton might be thing. Both players have had their injury problems this year and would be looking for new environments to reinvigorate their respective careers.
-
I know the Dees have been struggling and it is an away fixture but I'd like to recommend that we all turn up in strength of numbers. First, for our team and second because this is Essendon's annual Clash for Cancer match. It's a worthy cause so let's support it and our team.

It's hard to believe that the CEO was unfamiliar with the football department's stated aim of building the club through youth. What would a J. Brown cost the club? Our first two draft picks and a player?
-
Buckley's not the only one who is showing signs of improvement with every passing week. You can see it in a few of the players but the process is going to be slow and, in many ways, painful. The dividends should be seen in 2009 and beyond.

Maybe most of us agree that he needs a bit of time after missing out for three months.
