Grimes seems to be spending a lot of time on the bench. Juice misses the easy one.

THE INTOXICATING SMELL OF SUCCESS IS HEADING OUR WAY
Demon Head replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Must take into account the wet conditions. Scoreless draw foe me. -
Appreciate this. Well done.

On SEN last night McChins was commenting on the possibility of Richmond replacing Terry Wallet by Sheedy if the Toigs lost their next two games. This is what he said: "They play Melbourne Round 4. What better way to start?" Eddie forgot that Melbourne play Collingwood in Round 2. If that doesn't provide us with extra incentive then nothing will.

The exact point that WJ was making. The dealer in Nerang will get the benefit of Melbourne's sponsorship with the Victorian/Tasmanian dealer but the club should consider making proposals to the WA, SA, NSW, Qld and territory dealers as well as Hankook itself regarding some sort of additional sponsorship deal to embrace them as well.

I believe that eligibility for this week depends on whether the player in question has missed game time through injury. That would allow Rivers to play but not Sylvia. The rookies can play.

I'll give you the news mate. It's pissing down everywhere. We were good in these conditions last week so it should suit us.

The best way for the MFC to come out of this smelling of roses is for us to not only snare the second co-sponsor for a similar sum to Hankook but also to get the others we're talking with to come in as sponsors at a lesser level. If we can come up with a better overall sponsorship deal than we would have had we gone with Mission Foods, then we end up with our noses in front!

I'd watch it but I get very poor reception on Channel 31. The Foxtel AFL teams show which is on this year @ 6.30pm is essential viewing. You get the teams, good serious footy discussion, a bit of humour and very little of the trite schoolboy smut that characterises TFS.

I agree with those sentiments about stuffing the media but the Hun took the cake today with Collingwood. Apart from assigning them a front page photo of Travis Cloke, the front cover of the sport lift out section and two articles on their NAB Cup match v Essendon, their VFL side's hit-out also got an article and colored pic of Paul Medhurst. That article was four times the size of the measly few paragraphs allocated to the Brisbane Lions game which mentions Melbourne as an aside. Full credit to the Pies for making the NAB Grand Final but who have they beaten to get there? West Coast who finished 15th last year, Richmond (9th) and Essendon (12th). By contrast if Carlton make it to the NAB grannie they will have beaten both of last year's grand finallists plus North Melbourne which also played in the finals. We had to play the Hawks first up just to progress and had the Cats in our half of the draw. The rich get richer and the AFL helps them on their way.

That sort of thing doesn't really faze us Demonlanders because: (i) it's a typical sign of inadequacy from an individual who has an undersized appendage, and (ii) neitzstar is a couple of sandwiches short of a barbecue.

I watched a couple of games at the weekend and it was obvious that quite a few players across the board were rusty with their skills and disposal. It's too early to make a comment on how much we can improve. Sure, we have a battle ahead but I won't be criticising the players for a few skill errors in mid Feb as some dill on 'ology has been doing.

Watched the replay and it was an ordinary game after quarter time when the rain came. Aussie kicked two goals but was pretty quiet after kicking his second goal early in the third quarter. Aaron Davey was just OK but I suppose that being an early February hit out so you can't take much away from the form of the players. My guess is that both will be rested from Friday's practice match and given Lima Jurrah's lack of conditioning, he won't play either and will be eased in later in the pre season NAC Cup/Challenge games.

Demonland/Demonology v talkingcarlton

No. Setanta was otherwise involved in preparing his defence before the Tribunal. -
Can't make it but would appreciate a report - especially if the announce our sponsor for 2009 tonight. Actually, please fill us in on everything!

We live in a country that has a swimming pool named after a prime minister who drowned so we can have a football club with addicted gamblers among its past players and still be sponsored by a gambling operation. Makes a good fit IMO.

It's taking a bloody long time to have an MRI. My mate's gf injured her knee at the netball last week and she's having an MRI tomorrow! -
The Port Adelaide Football Club has fined first-year recruit Jackson Trengove $2,500 for his involvement in an incident in which a vehicle was damaged just prior to Christmas. Trengove, 18, damaged the back windscreen of a car in a late night incident while on leave. He had been drinking prior to the incident. The amount is the maximum the player could be fined under the AFL players’ code of conduct. Half the fine has been suspended. Shows how clubs really need to do their homework on potential draft picks these days.

The numbers are usually issued by this time of year and they certainly have been at other clubs. Perhaps we're just slack at releasing the info or they could be waiting for the right time. Who knows?

Too many of us are pessimists. It's true that we're rebuilding and we have a young side but what if everything went right for us early? No injuries (compared to multiple injury woes over the past 2 years)? A couple of close wins, a couple of favourable umpiring decisions at the right time? A build up of some momentum and confidence. The dream could come true.

Weighting game for Blease

Barassi Bashed He's a hero and I hope they get the scum involved in this despicable act.

In the Under 18 National Championships Jack Watts wore 4, James Strauss 17 and Sam Blease 28. The MFC has given Watts the number 4 and the other 2 numbers are also available. Why not follow suit and give them the numbers they wore for Victoria? I reckon it's a good idea!
