The most drawn out, painfully slow, advertisement ridden, boring hours of television there is. Will be watching something else.

Haha, good one! but you left out phoney, manicured, tarty, ridiculous, self promoting, boorish and cringe worthy. Hehe

    Leaks suggest he's been cleared.

Re watched the incident and the one involving Zac Jones on one of our boys.

New line in the sand .

Zac Jones is thuggish, like quite a few Swan players. If you watch they're games you'll see that they're constantly elbowing, pushing, wrestling, ect off the ball.

They've mastered doing as much physical damage as possible without giving away free kicks. The way they treated Johannisen at the SCG this year sickened me.

  3. It looks like Adelaide are the best team. So i think it's most likely they'll win. Richmond are harder to evaluate. I wrote them off many times through the year, but definitely enjoyed watching them play.

I hope Richmond, but think Adelaide have a stronger list.

Go Tigers!!! Do it for Victoria!

maybe more emphasis on cotchin because (a) he only needs a fine level penalty to be out and (b) danger didn't get taken off for concussion (though probably a close call)

sloane's bump is worth looking at/discussing though

Yeah the fine penalty is a issue for him.

  5. I hope Sloane and Cotchin play next week. I really wanted to ask the question about Sloane's bump to gauge if there's a bias against Trent Cotchin. Both bumps made connection with the head. Yet it seems nobody's criticising Sloanes bump.

  6. I agree. If you climbing high on someone there's a temptation to injure your opponent with a knee, or by landing on them.

Sling tackling can be cruelly delivered. Probably good to get rid of a potentially violent form of tackling. It seems tackling is really just holding, or trying to dislodge the ball now.

I've also noticed you don't seem to be able to push the ball carrier from any angle now.

No it's not.  The player going for the mark only incidentally knees someone in the head and there is no way of establishing that he deliberately kneed him in order to get the ball.   In  a case like Cotchin's it may be possible to establish that he deliberately cleaned an opponent up in order to get the ball.  I'm personally not saying he did or didn't, just that it is not the same principle.

I think it the analogy is pretty good. If you consider that Cotchin is definitely planning on smashing into Shiel's, you still have to determine whether he meant to make high contact or not. In my opinion.

  8. Players get hit in the head every match in various ways. If Cotchin was intending to connect with Shiel's head he would connected better than that. He's attack was ferocious, definitely a bit dangerous, but Shield's dropped his head very low in the contest!

  9. The rules of the game are going in a direction away from tackling, bumping. And fans like myself don't like that.

I don't play football anymore, but i must be frustrating changing the way you played and practices every year!

The whole situation is a farce ... deliberate targeting of the head should be penalised but incidental contact to the head due to normal football moves not so.  The same principle could be applied to the contentious 'around-the-neck' adjudication.

They need to make it simple and clear cut rather than create more grey areas.

It's not rocket science but the AFL are trying their best to make it that way.

Sorry Macca, I mean't to attach your statement.

    Bravo!

  11. I'm a little too inebriated now to explain my theory about the AFL projections of the game in years to come, but I can say with pretty good confidence that it's model will be a game that is the most inclusive to the most people possible. It makes sense business wise. I'd like to be proven wrong.

I wonder if clubs will start to separate from the AFL soon.

  12. So which part of the your body can contact an opponents head?

The AFL is definitely to blame. The AFL is run by people who have short term goals adjusting our game rapidly for their own benefits.

If your a stickler for the current rules that's your choice. But this is almost more of an issue of Aussie Rules suddenly not being the enjoyable game people thought it was.

  13. A good year.

His kicking's quite strong. His handpassing also, but way too many risky handpasses. Seemed fit and fast. Enthusiastic.

He needs to improve his tackling to remain in the midfield. And of coarse he needs to stop putting teammates under pressure with low percentage handballs. That caused alot of turnovers, and was very frustrating to watch. The coaches need to get him kicking more.
