Cant see us paying a big bucks contract for a player like Hibberd. We are almost (but not quite), a destination club now. We will be chasing far larger fish soon.

4 years may not automatically mean big bucks though. If he has the disposal that many here say he has, and he can find the ball as often as his stats suggest, then I am all for chasing him. Good dispoal, and often, out of half back, will win us games. Its what our entire game plan is based on now.

If we really want Hibberd, and he really wants to play for us, then we push him into a situation where he takes the scum to court, and leaves them for zero compo. Why would he want to come to us, but leave his cheating/lying employer heavily compensated?

That's the thing. I'm all for getting him for free from that mob, but they have already displayed to all and sundry, that dragging things out through court is their preferred tactic. If Hibberd (or Hurley) wanted to join another club, they would need to get things rolling very soon, to have a chance of leaving whatsoever. I have no doubt that essedon will demand a first round pick equivalent , or a player like Salem etc. Lets take him for nicks, and keep the pick for someone else.

But we haven't been belted weekly SWYL. And we wont know if Melksham's recruitment has hurt us, before he has played a single game. (yes, I know I said differently last year) maybe you will see melky come in and be a mainstay from day 1. He certainly fits with the "take no schit" players we have picked up recently. I know I campaigned heavily against picking him up, but now that he is ours, I cant wait to see him knocking people ars over head, across the half back line.
