Scott Thompson - Would we welcome him back?
faultydet replied to The Backyard Charizard's topic in Melbourne Demons
A potential move, as opposed to a guaranteed 100% certain offer from his mate. He would want to be certain wouldn't he? I am tipping he will be with us next year. I'm ok with that, as we still have a few players who wont make it, and we dont have enough draft currency to replace them all. -
Gotta shake my head at the irresistible need for these young blokes to ingest drugs. They are all educated about it before they play their first game. Simple prikcs. I have no doubt at all that it would be occurring at most, or even all clubs, and is covered up as routinely as this seemingly was.

I think you are correct, but this is a wish list only. You can back it in that Port will get another free ride courtesy of us in Alice Springs also. Infuriating.
-
No Port in Alice Springs. (we need to win these games, or at least be the only team that plays there every year to get any benefit from selling ourselves.) No Freo in Darwin. (As above) No Etihad tenants as home games at Etihad. No Cats in Geelong. Essedon in any round but the first. They don't deserve it. Carlton/Coll/Essedon/Richmond home games, wearing our traditional jumper. Other than that, meh. Oh, no tassie games either.
-
Good thing. They cant rebuild for the long term by spending all of their first round picks on mid tier talent from other teams. That's never going to replace the quality of Mitchell/Lewis/Hodge. The only good reason for it, is it takes most of the guess work out of the equation by using draft picks on 18yr olds..

That is exactly how I would describe your posting history ProDee. Mostly long winded, look at me and see how clever I am posts, that contain put down lines, and overflow with postulating disguised as researched argument. I suspect you have too much time on your hands. -

Yeah ok, I get that. To a point I should expect the same, but I still don't believe we should ever put in performances like that, with where we are right now. Someone earlier made a point about the leaders not being able to carry the club all year, and I guess that's a fair point. I like our leadership team, but they are not of the same quality, or numbers, as the top 8 sides. -

There can be no doubt that we are improving drd. Witness the Horforn win, and Port in Adelaide. But the days of 100 point capitulations should be behind us. I have faith in the list as far as talent goes, but I still believe we are mentally weak. -

Problem is they didn't richly deserve pick 1 N.D, and pick 1 P.S.D -

Every minute, of every game, every season. People talked about tanking, and what it meant to our losing culture. This is little different. Putting the cue in the rack with 2 games to go will not cut it. I don't pay for a 21 week membership. -

Accept əkˈsɛpt/ verb gerund or present participle: accepting 1. consent to receive or undertake (something offered). "he accepted a pen as a present" synonyms: receive, agree to receive, welcome, take, take receipt of, get, gain, obtain, acquire, come by More 2. believe or come to recognize (a proposition) as valid or correct. "this tentative explanation came to be accepted by the men" synonyms: believe, trust, give credence to, credit, give credit to, put confidence in, be convinced of, have faith in, count on, rely on, depend on; More In our case, it's related to the above. Arguments are put forward regarding youth/being tired//etc, and we refuse to believe or come to recognize (a proposition) as valid or correct. Some people on here are craving to be seen as having the high ground. News for you guys. We are not far off the mark. Apologies for answering for SWYL. No offence intended. -
Who are the Dees chasing for 2017 and at what cost?
faultydet replied to junk's topic in Melbourne Demons
Wasn't there a rumour re Parker and us last year, or maybe a year earlier? So many on here say we wouldn't trade a Salem/Brayshaw etc, but if the stars are not f.a, then how else would we get them? Just can't see us being a player this year, as our currency is seemingly quite low. -

I'm betting that our guys realise that although we have many young players who look good early days, we need to bring in some established first 22 types over the next few seasons, including a star or two, in order to be in a serious position to push deep into finals. At some stage you need to take the plunge and stop putting your faith in youth, and go all out for a flag tilt. It's what norf just failed at, but if they had been able to get a true star over the line in the previous few years, who knows...... The Horks did it beautifully. We are approaching that time, but are not there yet. We are still at the point where we need early draft picks on high end talent, because we are not good/developed enough to win a flag immediately, even with a star injected into the team. That may eventuate in the next few years if our guys develop the way the have recently. -

Ruthless with what? We have bugger all to trade, except next years first pick. Do you think we should trade that, and if so, for what/whom? -

I'm not looking at this game in the context of the whole season, because I am not required to. We have improved, and pleasantly so. I do not accept that the reasons put forward in this thread for our garbage performance are legitimate. I am talking about being assraped by 111 points in the last game we played. Nothing that happened in previous rounds changes my assessment of that result. The comment you think you are so clever in attacking, was directed at another poster who used the same term. I don't need to explain it to you, because he understood, without trying to paint himself as being clever, which you are failing miserably at. -

Bloody hell. My post was in response to another poster who used that term, saying he "could cop losing to Geelong", so I replied in kind. Go back through the posts and have a read. Why do such simple things need to be explained to people? What are you going to do? -

wtf are you here for then Vo? Have a look at the people who agree with me, and don't need a thesaurus quoted to them with my posts. Happy clappers who are cool with us losing by 100+, do my head in. If people like you are involved at high levels in clubs, you end up with a side like we have for the past decade. Accepting crud year after year. -

You need an explanation? wow. Something happened that I take exception to as a supporter, in that I disagree that the teams effort was fine and acceptable, and that we should think a 111 point loss is ok because the boys were tired. Standards are spoken about often, particularly in regards to a clubs culture. If you are prepared to swat away anything that is negative, then you accept a repeat. Hawthorn have not "copped" slack standards of effort for the past 3 years, which has contributed to a run of 3 consecutive premierships. That's not "copping" anything unacceptable from your playing list. It's probably the most common phrase in football. Why would anyone need to explain that to you? -

I wont cop a 111 point loss, to anyone, regardless of the round and what's on the line. People keep going on about improvement, and of course we have improved, but 18 goal losses are much more than a "reality check" for a "cooked" team. I still see finals for us next year, based on what we saw in our better games (injury permitting). But I also see no end to the humiliations, and that's the part that makes my blood boil. -

Regardless of who he supports, nothing he said is wrong. All of those who would excuse in any way, a 100+ point loss, regardless of youth/lastgameofseason/no top 8 spot on the line/insert excuse, only serve to make us weaker, by giving the soft underbelly of our club some wiggle room. Utter disgust is the only way my feelings about that game can be summed up, and it's still us (this time joined by the tigs), who are a laughing stock. -
Equally sickening. No, doubly sickening. Stupid stupid stupid Lions! I really hope most of these preening young fools demanding to be traded to premiership fancies come a gutser. Take a lesser pay packet looking for an easy ride, then get stuck at a basket case for 6 to 8.

I'm glad the Gold Coast hierarchy are not in the same room as the brions idiots right now. Blood and teeth everywhere. 10 minutes ago, they had O'Meara by the balls. Accept a trade that suits us, or play for the lions next year, and now? Welcome to the bummers Jaeger, your syringe is over by your locker.
