Btw, those that have made insinuations about saty's sexuality should've already been banned!!! Well, at least that's what happens on most public forums, I for one could not care, we're all adults here right? Oh no, wait, kids read this also! Well done Dland!!

All helpful suggestions Bob. I vote the Mods do something, otherwise why have them at all? Hello mods? Do we need another Saty thread really? I thought that's what the last 20 training reports turned into?!?! People haven't bitched enoughed? Do they have lives? Surely 1 training thread containing all reports & pics is ideal? Why am I asking so many questions I already have the answers to?!?!!

Get the best players possible who want to come. This is not a choice between Sloan & Selwood or anyone else, until of course both say they want to come & we can only afford one. This is a thread about Selwood & he'd be a massive upgrade on plenty of blokes on our list. Clearly the club would be targeting several they feel they have a chance of landing & all those mentioned would surely be discussed by the club until otherwise ruled out. I'd take any really good FA we can land at the end of this year, it costs us nothing but the space we already have sitting there doing nothing & would really lift our stocks with the promising young list we have at the moment to land a 26 year old like Selwood in his prime. All for it if we can get him. Of course there are players I'd prefer instead out there but this one we have a history of offering contracts to & deals for, and there may well be good reasons for that beyond just he'd be an great upgrade to the list (i.e. mutual interest?). Btw, Sloan should already be at MFC, don't even get me started (again)! I'd love him too, but from the outside looking in he seems less likely to relocate. Would love to be wrong & we should definitely chasing there also, but not instead of. It's nice to be looking toward next off season & not talking about the potential high draft picks as much as the potential FA signings no? Go win some bloody games boys, make it happen!!

Biggest overreaction I've seen in ages. Seriously, just grow a set & stfu, why would that 1 line need such a reaction? We all know Saty can't take those jokes (which I actually laughed at initially re Frawley). And as for Saty, you don't want a derailed training report thread (like most of us)? Then stop feeling the need to comment on every single bloody throw away line & joke, seriously, undoes any value you add here (and you do add value, just stop making everything about you, else someone will no doubt come visit you at training one day judging from reactions like the above). Anyway, I read what I wanted out of this thread, thnx to those who contributed photos, reports, q&a's and even the occasional joke ;-) Everything else should just be deleted including this post I wish I never bothered to write now......

I reckon Newton will be on that list of names shortly Macca, I think he can be very very good straight away, he has a point to prove to the Power that he was as capable a mid as their star studded core last year, hoping he can pull a Tyson like 2015. So subjective, plenty of names could surprise I feel, but your list is the most obvious candidates I suppose. We've had plenty of false dawns, but we've replaced half the list with players selected by people who seem to know how what they're doing and can develop it right, so this looks the most promising of many a recent 'dawns' for mine.

Man I got a laugh out of this!! It's cause the club is a time bomb & they can't land anyone decent.... I betcha! And then they are happy to let Craig do all the talking about the appointment, taking responsibility for it basically & sounding like a PR man about what a great club it is. Reeks of desperation getting others in to speak for the club to distance themselves from the drug scandal..... I'm loving it!

My opinion, 2015 remains a tribute to Robbie Flower, with Nath Jones added to the right side from round 1 onwards as he is Robbie's current no 2 & spiritual heir and bloody deserving of a full season tribute also given 3 blueys in a row, years of blood, sweat & tears & his latest show of commitment....... Then by the end of 2015 who knows what we'll want on it, hopefully our premiership winning team celebration photo!

Pretty sure it's a new 5 year deal with next seasons salary having been renegotiated (so big pay day for jonesy from next year onwards). He said as much in one of the interviews, can't remember if it's with burgo or the press conference, but he did let that slip that 2015 was reneg'd. My guess is an average of $700k over 5, so about $3.5m total. It's probably front loaded slightly given the cap went up & we paid the minimum this year whilst losing Frawley & Clark's salaries with only Lumumba coming in on decent coin. He deserves even more imo, not like we don't have the space, for now anyway........... :-) Gladly! ;-) N Jones you bloody legend!!!!

To all the drama queens on here..... I [censored] told you months ago he was going to stay MFC for life. Can this thread be shut down now ffs?!? What a joke.

I've heard of a goal tally, is that what you meant?

Roosy talked Spencer up last year & they re signed him for 2 years. He also said you need a ruck devision as no ruckman can go it alone all year. I think they feel rather set on that group being Jamar, Spencer & Gawn with Fitzy & Pedo being ruck/forwards & King still a project. That's heaps for now. No more 3rd or 4th type backups like Lowden will greatly improve this group IMO. When Jamar retires either the other boys have come along well enough to take over or we will chase an established ruckman for 2016. Maybe we take another for the Rookie List as insurance but I personally doubt it. It's now or never for Gawn & Fitzy especially in my book & they'll get opportunities to work out whether they are the real deal or not this year.
-
That's what you think & you don't speak for all of us clearly. His life is not worth saving until he takes responsibilty for his actions & genuinely seeks help to change his ways. He has shunned both of those repeatedly now, thus he's a waste of space. IMO.
-
I didn't say that, but I said I couldn't care less what happens to idiots like this so long as they don't screw other people's lives up around them. You want to make an issue of what other people here think about losers like this guy & Jurrah? Go for it, but don't put words in my mouth ever again. Keep defending losers who do know better but choose to be idiots. Feel free.... Plenty of lost causes in jails aroun the country for you to defend & feel sorry for. If he had've had an accident & killed a family member of yours I'm sure you would still feel for this [censored] yeah?
-
This. He's an adult, he knows what he's doing & is responsible for his own actions. Waste of space, putting others at risk & (if the car really was stolen) stealing & messing with innocent people's lives. I'd rather he go before he hurts someone else, he obviously has no care for others so I don't understand why others give a rats about him.

Disagree, size, strength & fitness will help skill execution, especially under the pressure of real game time...... Not to mention the added confidence players have in their bodies. Otherwise known as a keg, no?
-
8 wins, placing us around 13th/14th on the ladder. I think saints, dogs & blues should be potentially below us, with GC in trouble if Gazza has another extended period on the sidelines & GWS still with weaknesses in their structure, so we could potentially jump back over them. The Dons, who knows what may unfold with their situation, hopefully they can't field a team at some point...... But I won't get any further ahead of myself than that. Long way to go yet, big pre season this, as always.
-
Gut says: Premiership - Hawks Brownlow - Travis Boak Coleman - Buddy Franklin Bluey - Dom Tyson Rising Star - Jesse Hogan Wooden Spoon - St Kilda Hardest to predict is rising star imo, but confident Jesse seems set for a big impact on us if he gets in 20+ games this year. Melbourne 8 wins and right 'in' several more.
-
Can you find us an example closer to McCartin's size & weight? Cause I don't remember Dale ever looking like he had as high skin folds as McCartin. Paddy's also said he's had blackouts before not managing it correctly.....
-
McCartin will not do more than Boyd or Patton did their first year, he's not even as highly rated as they were. Anyone here who thinks he will help our structure heaps next year are idiots. Meanwhile, Hogan will, because he has had 2 preseasons, a full season in the VFL, is bigger, stronger, taller, has a MUCH bigger tank for gut running & doesn't have diabetes to 'manage'. Oh, & even though he's not a 'pretty' kick, I'd still back him to slot em over McCartin. I'd be surprised if McCartin does more in his first year or 2 than Pedo did this year for us actually. Really, of this years draft, the only certainties to at least impact & play a few games next year are Petracca, Brayshaw & Heeney. Also, keep in my that in an uncompromisd draft, Moore was rated almost as highly as a prospect as McCartin & Wright. So really, is McCartin that much of a 'lock' as a future KPF star? Just because most 'experts' rate him top 3, it's in a weak draft & compromised at the top end imo.
-
McCartin will be given a bath next year as an afl key forward. Was he more highly rated as a junior than Boyd or Patton? A supposedly 1 in 10 year key forward my backside, there's been one of those every year for the past 5 years! HA!! Gotta love the draft hype..... I keep hearing what a beast he is but he's smaller than both of them & neither have take the league by storm. He already has the yips kicking for goals (granted not technical problems but mental ones) which some say can be fixed, but I can't imagine it'll get any easier for him at afl level with TV cameras everywhere & at least 20k screaming supporters most weeks. Oh, and he's a lock top 3 in a weak as draft.... Whoopie do..... Wasn't Daniel Rich a lock for top 3? Toumpas? Smart teams seem to take whoever they rank, power rankings & draft experts be damned!! And don't give me the Pendergast 'reaches' as examples, for each one of those there is a Pendlebury 'reach' by Collingwood or a Bontempli 'reach' by the Dogs. Neither were 'clearly' top 5 according to experts prior to the 'leaks' that they were going to be taken higher than expected. Lever all the way for mine, he's the real afl standard player imo. I hope our recruiters agree, but if not I'll still support McCartin & hope I'm wrong and that he comes on faster than many of the other sure fire kpp 'superstars' of recent drafts, because we need to start moving up the ladder this year as far as I'm concerned.
-
So if we draft McCartin also & he plays 9 games or more we should be able to trade him to the doggies for their captain & 1st round pick next year ...

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN NEWTON

I like the look of Newton btw, but haven't seen much & don't know much about him, but still looks a better prospect then most of this years draft in my limited opinion though. Seems the club feels the same way as I do, rightly or wrongly. -

Where did I say it was the right decision bloke? Go on!! You sure you really understood what your mate was passing on as info on this years draft? You have comprehension issues clearly. I said TAKE McKenzie & Evans out of the picture as they were already contracted. I didn't state that I backed that decision & if the MFC wish to pay them out to put another kid on the list I'm happy for them to, just for the record, I don't rate either of them myself & personally cannot fathom why either got more than a 1 year extension at the time! -

Are you dumb? Did you even comprehend my post there? Hahahahaha Where did I say having Evans & McKenzie already signed for 2015 before 2014 ever commenced was a good idea? Where?!? I was saying they can't be included in the conversation because they had multi year deals before Roos arrived!! And my point still stands, Roos & our list managers made the decision months ago that blokes like Barry, Terlich, Riley & whoever else they resigned this year would be more valuable on our list than more late picks being on our list this year. That to me indicates what OUR people think about this years draft crop. -

We have our list strategy, they have theirs. Everyone you speak to this time of year has an agenda & every club at all levels are in the business of selling HOPE this time of year. In my opinion is this is a weak draft. Some 'experts' seem to agree with me, some don't. This is why every year there are winners and losers. We'll see in 5 years who's right or wrong. As for Geelong, maybe they are just very cocky in there own opinion after years of usually drafting the right blokes & developing them well. But they have also got a few picks wrong also, every club has actually. My point above was simply Blease has done nothing but a show a few offensive glimpses in 5 years!!! And he has had plenty of opportunity in that time. They could've easily got in another late pick instead of Blease if they are soo bullish & confident in this years draft crop, but no, they are punting on Blease. There is what they 'say' vs what they 'do' & picking up Blease now says to me they are particularly desperate for pace, any pace & they know that chances are whatever 18 yo's they pick up at those late selections are no where near monties to impact next year. And IF one does then I say Blease has even less chance of making at the Cats in 2015.
