  1. Only way Col leaves is as a Free Agent people, why would anyone trade for a FA? As for compo we'll get a 2nd rounder after our own at best (pick 23 at the moment in a shallow draft pool, could be a bit higher by end of year) as he won't get more than 500k elsewhere no matter what Roos says in his mid season report to talk him up (which I think is a BS suggestion anyway). In any case, we can match any offer on him if we want & I don't see anyone breaking the bank to poach him, more likely it's the promise of finals that'll be the big lure....... To those who say most supporters wouldn't care if he left, you couldn't be more wrong in my case so don't speak on my behalf you idiots, a shittie pick in the mid 20's for a bloke our premiership couch considers a walk up best 22 player is not going to cut it for me, this is nothing like getting a Brayshaw for Frawley.
  2. Roos has simply given the reasons for our performances & answered the questions asked of him as openly as he can with respect to the past. These were never excuses, just facts. The media even after Geelong still brought up the past & asked Roosy about it in his press conference ffs (with respect to the 186 monkey being off out back now)!!!!! I haven't seen him hiding behind excuses. Also, with respect to age, we're not the youngest list by a long shot, but look at games experience & take out a couple of older outliers to see where we're at experience wise. Pedersen, M. Jones, older blokes with still low games tallies....... So we were a bit extra tired one game, it happens. Some players have CLEARLY had mental demons to overcome. & some of you feel he's been using too many excuses? ..... Lloyd was a gun forward & is a complete moron in every other way imo. Roos is setting up for the long haul people & copping [censored] from people with no idea for being honest. FMD
  3. Next captain in 2/4 years after Jones for sure, locked in! Hoges/Brayshaw/Salem VC's by then too....
  4. Hey, at least we get a day off and a big game each year out of the royals. What do our politicians give us? Pretend to manage the country whilst covering up blunder after blunder & wasting all our wealth (wasn't that long ago we were the wealthiest nation per capita by a very decent margin)! Maybe we should have an unelected technocracy like what is really running Europe & England via the EU? They are the new 'royals' of the world. Elites rule the corporations that rule the world, I doubt becomming a republic will do anything for us when we're already run by useless crooks. Except we'd lose the QB clash against Collingwood...... Great plan picket
  5. Vanders wasn't drafted earlier because he didn't look committed enough to fitness. Some blokes just aren't ready pre 21, it took him to be overlooked & work hard to get his chance later on at 22/3. Dom may have just needed this time to do the same & now knows what he's missing out on. I trust the club is all over this & make the right call.
  6. Exactly this, I reckon we'd likely rookie him if he's shown a commitment to stay in shape & sharp since he left. He'd probably be given a 1 year chance & if he makes it, awesome, we could use his pace, if he doesn't I don't see how it costs us anything much. Given we re-signed him for the next 2 or 3 years before he quit, we obviously thought he was a chance to go on & make it before he left. I think he's only 21 this year....... I trust the current FD's decision either way here, we haven't got much wrong lately.
  7. Ha! Yep, they cheered a behind cause they cracked 100 points...... Amateurs.
  8. Someone must be dropped after that 2nd half. It's looking like Howe came up underdone after last week & Vince/Dawes had plenty of rust still today. But they will all again be better for the run, so dropping them now would seem pointless when their 'usual' proven past form would say they are top 22 player. Garland was great last week, very ordinary today. Vanders needs to dominate at Casey for a couple in my opinion, as good as he was last week, I think Brayshaw showed better signs than him in limited minutes today. Kent was ordinary today. So Toumpas, JKH & Grimes could easily all come in here to give us a bit of a different mix. We need to see this 'competition for spots' stuff in action, especially when the team stops in the 2nd half like today.
  9. Adelaide = a place to come from, not a place to go (back) to. Thompson left us and only went home for legit family reasons, and no matter how much $$ was thrown over the years at blokes like Pavlich & Gibbs to return home, not many players have ever wanted to go back to Adelaide in recent years.
  10. Clark is full of BS & everyone in footy knows it. Whether he had depression or not, he ditched the MFC cause he needed a new environment for dealing with his depression according to the unnamed medical advise he got...... However, he was already back at the MFC rehabbing, using our staff & facilities when he 'got better & started working towards a comeback'. What other life changes have been made? He stayed with the same mrs he got depression with & what do you know, went back to his old profession of AFL player within a few months, all he did for this 'life change to help him deal with depression' was go from a bottom 4 fancy to a top 4 fancy. And he got paid out 90% of his over the top salary for hardly any games with us, including his wage he would have earnt for this year from us!!! He is a spineless weak creep. I'm soo glad he went to the ailing aging cats so he be there for their downward spiral. Meanwhile we can wave to him in the next couple of years as we pass them on the ladder. F u Clark, mentally ill or not, go rot, case closed! Good riddance & welcome H!!
  11. Are you kidding? Keep the garbage in that thread and prevent it slipping out in other threads I say!! I haven't been in there for ages, if you don't go in it, then who cares? I have spoken, now lock this thread mods!! Ha!
  12. B & C = NFI
  13. Too much curry & beer obviously.
  14. Brayshaw is in the best 22 right now. And I'm tipping in one weeks time when Vince is back it'll be someone other than Gus who makes way.
  15. Casey form mattered enough to keep Vince out smart ass. And get Brayshaw in. Or did you miss that fact?
  16. Viney is young & a work in progress still but at least adds an aggressive element this team otherwise has been lacking which the other blokes who have been dropped who are also older do not. I already have more confidence in Brayshaw going for goal then a M. Jones, Bail or McKenzie, even as a first gamer, which says a lot imo.
  17. Howe will play HBF as that's where he's trained all pre season, coaches clearly like him there. In fact, judging from last year's most regular back 6, it has been Salem who has taken Grimes' HBF spot..... With Frost & H able to pinch hit back there depending on matchups. I thought 1 of Garland's or Grimes' spot was in jeopardy to make way for Salem. Brayshaw's form was ahead of that of Michie, M. Jones, Bail & McKenzie. Whether he's 100% ready or not (in terms of age/exprience), he comes in looking like the most damaging midfielder based on pre season game time. It's really quite a simple selection guys, those other boys made Gus' selection easy by underwhelming in pre season games. Gus will give us a massive injection of go & enthusiasm out on the field, he will get midfield minutes sub or not.
  18. Yes please!
  19. Anyone know if this'll be live on the website tonight? Sadly can't make it in person
  20. Please keep that to yourself in future, I really don't wanna know what posters are 'up' to while they're on here thanks.
  21. A player like Howe or Watts can maybe contest the occasional ruck contest but to backup ruck for a 5-10 minute block will cut their careers short, they'll be banging up against blokes much bigger than themselves. Maybe Hogan or Dawes? Dawes has already shown at the Pies he's not a backup ruck & I'd say Hogan is still too young & vital to our forward structure. Maybe Frost? Although it could unsettle the backline at times if he's moved, he might be an option. I can't see us go into games with only an aging Jamar as a viable ruck, especially given his age & previous injuries. Roos said last year you need a ruck 'division' to spread the burden over the course of a whole year & imo first use of the ball & having a real contest in ruck stoppages is too important to go with what your suggesting, at least until our midfield is dominating & sharking the opposition ruckman with ease, but when was the last time that happened? Further, it appears the club has trained all pre season to have resting rucks up forward, so I doubt they'll just throw that out the window already.
  22. King is a natural footballer who has 12 months to get his tank right. If he is struggling to play games out by the end of the year at Casey with his tank being his big focus this year he may well be shown the door, but 12 months is a long time in footy & I like what I see with him so I hope he makes it. Spencer has another year after this on his contract, not going anywhere despite talk on DL, but he is what he is, a career VFL/backup ruck, not No1 AFL ruck imo. He's an experienced, mature bodied insurance in the ruck (anyone else remember Roos saying you need a ruck 'division' to rotate these days last year - we'll continue to have multiple options on the list post Jamar too). Back on topic, I think Vandenberg will be first cab off the rank this year, but hope Harmes forces his way for a look in also. The more blokes pushing for selection from both the main list & rookie list the better of course! But I don't think anyone's 'getting out of Harmes way'. He'll have to push them out of his way on his own merits.
  23. Ah, still a rip off fellas.... I don't eat this garbage anyway, but at my work we make 40% margin on hot 4n20's at $2.50 & I bet these guys get a better price than us. Hot chip buckets for only $4...... Oh thnk u soo much for ripping us stupid still. Chips cost FA!! Including oil, salt & the buckets it's still a 400+% markup. How long were they charging $1 for beer trays?!? They cost em about 1/2 a cent per unit. So when is red rooster announcing prices inside the g will match their prices outside the g? Too little too late imo, I'll keep taking my own thnx, especially since I'm in the habit already. Getting very sick of getting ripped left right & centre in this country, especially by the government.
  24. I wouldn't do that to him, I think he's been bashed around the head enough the last 6 months, he needs a little slap on the hand for this but also a little love for the progress he has made thus far, from what I've heard he really has 'lifted' off field with Nev's guidance & despite this incident I think he'll be one of the best bargain pick ups of 2015. I trust in Roosy's player management skills here to do wonders with Jeffy, we seem to have the right people handling the players now so whatever the club does from here I'll back, but I honestly can't see more than a NAB suspension coming from this. We are all about getting some W's this year (as per the AGM) & everyone from the board to the boot studders know it. Jeff can help a lot in that regard if he has a big 2015.
  25. Suspend him for the first NAB cup game & act all stern & move on, he missed a court date for driving whilst suspended, not good but not a hanging offense, I can see how this 'lesser' charge from that night might have slipped his mind. He seems to have made some inroads in his life since joining MFC & it's unfortunate this happened but everyone will move on pretty quickly imo.
