  1. Yeah, I tend to agree, turn over merchant, shocking skills and lacks pace. But I guess having him and Magner pushing blokes for spots all year can only help.
  2. This kid looks to be a gun, just on footage. So composed, I haven't seen a more composed player in any of our draftee tapes. Doesn't look to be your magner type pick, the kid looks to have a touch of flair. Confident player with good awareness and a great kick by the looks of those highlights.
  3. Personally I just don't think Jurrah can cope mentally in a professional football environment, it's too far out of his norm. Obviously he can play football - and really well - as we've all seen. But... He is too much of an individual, too selfish for what we are building at the moment. Our culture will improve without Liam Jurrah's hovelling around the sidelines expecting some sort of special treatment because they are a unique talent - those days, thankfully, are gone.
  4. Billings will be gone by our pick. I think we might push for finals next year, I think this every year, but I can't see why we can't make finals.
  5. its a real shame we didn't have a PSD pick. Id take Leigh Osbourne in a heart beat.
  6. I like how you've saved those last 2 slots for Viney and Toumpas, clever. Its the past right down to the future, from left to right, good theme.
  7. I hope your not speaking from experience there old mate.
  8. Demonlands love child in Trengove, needs to improve a lot in 2013. His captaincy not only depends on it - but his place in the side. Hopefully he can regain some pace, any sort of pace would be welcome.
  9. We are going to kill it in 2013, hard and tough football. I reckon we will gain a lot of respect from opposition supporters and become everyones second side as we shock the AFL and push to make the 8. We need Davey to find his best, Sylvia to further up him game and break into the elite bracket. Jones to have another solid year, Jamar to recapture his best form. Tapscott and Blease to arrive as stars. Trengove to prove that he isn't a spud. And hopefully Jack Watts has an AA year. If a few of those things come together, then we should go pretty well. Hopefully Clark, Dawes, Brynes and Rodan can really add to the side, I think they will.
  10. We were still a bottom 3 side this year and given 2 of those below us are expansion sides, that pretty much means we were the worst side to play football in 2012. Whilst we have cleaned out a lot of players - there is always room for talent, especially given that we LACK talent on our list, it is a need that could be quite easily filled here, Garlett is a perfect fit and would top off our recruitment for the year.
  11. I wouldn't read too much into that mock draft a year ahead of time as Martin, Billings and Aish are X factor players who could quite easily go higher - or slip, due to the ceiling for improvement in their game. Most their value is on potential and whilst it has worked with O'meara, a year is a long time in junior football. Hogan, being a KP player - and one of not many at the top end of the 2013 lot - is a safe bet that he would be a top 5 pick at least. Big watch on Billings next year for mine, if he progresses further next year he will push for pick 1. He is a special talent, but like I said earlier - a year a long time in junior football and X factor type players don't always live up to their potential.
  12. Whoever lands him get a gift. He was the most talented kid in the draft, just because all sides overlooked him - his perceived value has dropped. They talk about culture, half of North Melbourne were chronic drug users during the 90's and they still maintained success. The popular belief that culture is paramount is just a phase - and Garlett has copped the brunt. Theres always room for talent, especially rare talent. Harley Bennell was no saint prior to GC drafting him, yet he has adapted to the rigours of AFL quite nicely. There have been far worse players than Garlett over the years and they have had successful AFL careers. It's a shame that we don't have a PSD pick, I hope we delist one of the many spuds taking up our list and take Garlett.
  13. Personally I think we are better than both the Bulldogs and Power. We were ravaged with injuries and have far more polish than both sides - not to mention our foward line looks miles ahead of both teams. With Clark, Dawes and Pederson we have a more mature and talented foward line than both those sides. Our backline looks stronger, considering next year we'll drop Garland back there and Grimes if needed. If Jamar is up and running, our midfield would smash both Port and the Bulldogs. We will demolish both of those sides next year, we have far more class, talent and improvement in our list than those sides.
  14. I don't think we will go backwards. I am concerned as to how we will replace Rivers though - as I think he is a big loss to our backline. Although he played mainly up forward, he is still a player of quality that we have to replace. Hopefully one of our mature aged draftees can replace him immediately. On the upside, I think we will see a further improvement in our culture and general feel around the club by the removal of Gysberts, Morton, Cook, Moloney and Jurrah especially. We have got rid of some lazy workers and added some young, hungry, quality kids in Viney, Toumpas, Kent and co. Add to this Dawes, Pederson, Brynes and Rodan, all of who are experienced bodies and quality individuals. All this and a combination of minimal injuries next year will see us improve greatly, we will not go backwards.
  15. I would hope that Tommy Mac would get into his head, really get stuck into Jurrah. Mentally fragile players like Jurrah could be easily put off their game. I don't understand why more league players don't really target certain players. Mentally breaking down players has been successfully used by Geelong, Brisbane at the peak of their powers and individually by Michael Jordan, Wayne Carey,Shane Warne, there acertain place for it in every sport if done within the spirit of the game.
  16. It's a big issue, goes hand in hand with the sleeping pill epedemic in the AFL.
  17. Jurrah is soft as butter anyway, he'll play a few good games early, but he's not mentally capable of playing full-time football. He is mentally fragile with a body unable to cope with the rigours of AFL. Without Jurrah it's a big improvement to our culture.
  18. Garlett is most dynamic talent to come out of WA since Lewis Jetta - who ironically we also should've got.
  19. Stuff up by all clubs. Garlett is a special talent. Good get by Essendon, I hope Garlett carves it up and sticks it up all these modern day experts who write a young kid off for just being a kid. Harley Bennell had his fair share of issues that went under the radar and he is turning out fine.
  20. Garlett, he's the best talent to come through in a long time. Theres obviously more to it than drinking and smoking. Because most clubs would back themselves in to turn a wayward youth around, so the kid must have done something really bad. It's a shame, he's exactly what we need, Leigh Osbourne is another player we should look at.
  21. I reckon Dom Barry is going to be something very special. This was an absolute masterstroke.
  22. No biggy. Won't hurt him to work on his upper body at this time of the year.
  23. Thats a good year for us isn't it?
