IMO when you compare the Dal Santo and Buddy compensation picks, that Sylvia is not worth pick 23. I have a conspiracy theory which is as follows: We were always going to let Sylvia slip and PJ let his good mate AD know about it. The AFL had to say no to the priority pick to satisfy other clubs. But AD told PJ don't worry, we'll bump up compo for ya buddy!!

It's sad to say, but after his performances over the past two seasons, we'd probably have to pay someone to take him.

I think you are right, Dew is our man. IMO they're biding their time and not discussing Dew with the Swans any further, especially during trade period as it may somehow affect our trades, possibly even trades with other clubs (3 way trades etc). Then after it's finished....BANG!

Yeah, they were never going to match the length of the contract (would be silly to). I thought the point interesting though, because surely this could and should be applied to other players Swans are chasing. The AFL has to scrap it, it is just absurd.

A caller on SEN today made a valid point (apologies if anyone's mentioned it previously): Hawks should only have to match the Swans offer less living away from home allowance (1.1m - 10%) because if he didn't go up there it wouldn't be required.
