It makes a bit of sense after last year's trade when we had to wait a year before we got benefit from Melksham whereas they had immediate benefit from our pick. (Also hopefully next year our second round pick is pick 36.)
Interesting that we seem to have committed pick 26 (or 27 after the Brisbane Priority Pick?) for Hibberd in everybody's eyes yet only last week the MFC website posted a news item suggesting that pick 26 was still in play. (Maybe we have come to another arrangement for Hibberd which would be good news!) I have faith in Taylor and Co. to do something out of left field!

And interesting that the MFC website has Sheahan suggesting the range of options for pick 26. Surely the Club wouldn't be releasing this if we are committed to use that pick to get Hibberd from EFC. Be great if that was the case (i.e. Trade them Grimes)!
We gave our second round pick to Essendon last year (which they used) in return for Melksham (which we couldn't use)! Surely they owe us (considering that they have now regained the use of 11/12 of their suspended players for 2017)? Maybe the AFL are assisting us in working out a trade to EFC which allows us to retain our second round pick?
Playing with their other schoolmates, Watts and (if he stays on the list) Dawes. (Maybe MFC can align with the Old Brighton Grammerians and take off a Premiership, something we failed to do with Casey?)
We could swap him for Grimes (bearing in mind Grimes delisting probably doesn't come into effect until after the Trade Period)! Collingwood or Hawthorn won't have much to trade.
It grates on me giving up our best pick to Essendon (for a player who wants to come) & leaving ourselves with nowhere to move in targeting other players (such as a forward/ruck). Maybe he should call them on 'breach of duty of care' or 'breach of contract '?
Unfortunately Frost, Hibberd & Co. are the future. Let's hope that we get a second or or third round pick from Brisbane that we can offset our trade to Essendon.
There are also the Casey coaches (and the Women's team), all of which are either on the MFCFD payroll or aligned/integrated with our coaches philosophy!
Why can't we build a second grandstand at Punt Road and paint it RED & BLUE? After all, the Tigers were the first Club that we allowed to share the "G" with us and surely they owe us? The second grandstand would help with capacity and benefit both Clubs (& maybe the Government could chip in like they did with the Tiges)! Couldn't possibly be a better post-match location (even better than the bars at the "G")!
