  1. I'd like to beat Collingwood, Carlton, Essendon and Hawthorn!
  2. 29426 ?
  3. Did your 45 in Chemistry (without trying) get you onto an AFL list (or top 22 on that list)? Any lad who has the commitment to get drafted whilst not neglecting his studies is alright by me. ? Not sure what criteria meet your expectations as a player?
  4. Considering the fact that the AFL Final Eight system was only introduced in 2000, you weren't very ambitious in 1971 when we had twelve teams and a Final Four. Top Eight then was Fifth Bottom!
  5. Then another 7,500 supporters of our AFL Women's Team will leave us seventeen tantalising members short of 50,000.
  6. The thrust of my post (which includes Casey) was that we have a great window of opportunity to generate MFC members whilst there are only four AFL Women's Teams based in Melbourne. If we are successful as a team, and have such a marketable captain as Daisy, then there is no reason that we can't reap the benefits of their popularity in terms of membership growth (two teams, two leagues, one MFC)!
  7. I share your enthusiasm for the team under the captaincy of Daisy, but I am hoping more than anything that we can leverage off Daisy's profile and the team's success to catapult our membership to over 50,000 for the first time, especially considering the fact that the first Women's season is concluded before the 2017 AFL season proper commences.
  8. The best thing about our AFL Women's Team is that it is currently in a restricted women's competition with only four other Melbourne-based teams, meaning we effectively get the jump on the Hawks, Bombers, Saints, Roos and Tigers! It is an advantage that we will only have for a short window so we must exploit this and leverage off it to the maximum in promoting MFC to a entirely new market of potential members. If we don't, the Blues, Pies and Doggies will! With Daisy Pearce as the face of our Women's Team, we have a very good competitive advantage over the other three Melbourne-based teams as she is by far and away the most high profile and articulate ambassador for women's football in the AFL. It is imperative that we take the initiative and get the jump on them all. If we can build a supporter base for the women of (say) 10,000 members, 5,000 for the Casey Demons, and 45,000 for the Melbourne Football Club male team, we could attain 60,000 MFC members in 2017. No reason why this is not attainable and possibly it may even be conservative, (seeking a modest return of 15,000 for our two extra teams' if Casey are allowed to be included in our total as I am sure the other VFL linked teams are such as Collingwood might be). Anyway, food for thought! Go Dees!

  11. Punt Road Oval falls within the boundaries of City of Melbourne and is controlled by the Council. It shares a 3002 postcode with the MCG so technically it is our turf that they are occupying. I would fully support the Richmond Tigers moving to Kevin Bartlett Reserve, which is named after one of their favourite sons and shares postcode 3121 with Richmond.
  12. The Tanganbalanga supporters are feeling very gung-ho about our 2017 prospects! ?
  13. The only substantial downside is letting Collingwood have so much presence near the "G", our spiritual home for a century and a half (Melbourne Cricket Club Football Club). Not sold on Port Melbourne but would be wrapped if we could have ended sharing with the Tigers, we let them play "home games" on our ground, and they let our Demon Reserves and Women's Team play (and establish a social club) at the Punt Road Oval (so we could have combined training sessions)!
  14. Off-topic but I have been in the cardio unit of St Vincent's Hospital for the last ten days, kept alive be reading the training reports on Demonland by Saty and others. Imagine my joy when another passionate paid-up Melbourne supporter moved into the bed opposite yesterday (from Tanganbalanga)! ?
  15. If we get to 48300 then it will be because of a strong onfield start to the season and the momentum will carry us through until 50,000+. As an example, if the Women's Team pulls off a Premiership (or even a GF) then that alone should translate to another new 1,700 members let alone any boost from the Casey Demons!
  16. One person not mentioned was Bugg. How is he looking? Also love some feedback on Trenners and whether he looks likely to regain the top 22?
  17. I am also bullish about 50,000, especially if we again preform well in the pre-season competition.
  18. As the Casey Demons, are we precluded from having a Casey Demons Women's Team? Be nice to have depth in both the male and female teams down the track.
  19. Especially from a hospital bed!
  20. But not the girls?
  21. Let's hope that they can play without an away jumper!
  22. Probably too much in administrative costs. Club does better if members shop in the Demonshop for the apparel of their choice. Having said that, the designer tartan scarfs offered by rival clubs might be a nice addition to the product range (and other blue and red clothing items) rather than solely sporting clothing apparel.
  23. Why would you wait in the queue for a scarf if your preference is "anything but a scarf"? Both sexes can wear scarfs, you can wear them anywhere in the "G" including the MCC Members Bar and you can hang them out the car window after we beat Hawthorn!
  24. We didn't fare too bad dealing with the Giants with Tyson, Frost, McKenna and Bugg!
