  1. As long as he gets hoarse singing it!
  2. Dommygun, you don't seem to have anybody finishing higher the second. Who are GWS to play in the GF?
  3. And we are still talking about a player who could just as easily been the number one draft pick but for the toss of a coin (with $cully)! Maybe he could he still could still surprise all the Demonland naysayers as Watts has?

Nice sequence (showing a bit of acceleration)!
  5. I don't necessarily see it as a Frost for O'Mac choice. There are going to be many games this year where we come up against three tall forwards, maybe even the majority. I would like to see the three of them develop together as they each have their strengths. Similarly, I would like to see some continuity in our forward structure and Goodwin settle on a third tall to play alongside Hogan and Watts.
  6. Lumumba is already out and Vince may well retire, so maybe it is only Garland? Spencer seems to be going OK judging by the training reports and is both our insurance with Gawn and a vital cog with the Casey Demons. Similarly, we should allow Trenners, ANB and Kennedy this year to prove themselves at senior level but, in the interim, each are contributing at Casey so we are hardly carrying them.
  7. Nice article. I wish him well!
  8. Well we did forego him in favour of Tyson and Salem. Maybe when he comes out of contract? ?
  9. I see that we are now at 29,710. This is a bit disappointing only scoring 250 new members in the last three plus weeks. I genuinely thought that the pre-Christmas momentum would be maintained and that we would start the new year with 30,000 members plus. Time for everybody to get busy and sell the Club!
  10. Good luck with the conversions. The MFC website has been stuck on 29,426 for far too long!
  11. When I started following the Dees, they were the "Melbourne Cricket Club Football Club" ( as one of the MCC sporting sections) so it is not too silly (though I feel it would be a 'long bow' to include the entire MCC membership in our tally)!
  12. The coaches are back, the players are back, Burgo has been posting quizzes, we have been getting player updates on both the Men's and Women's teams! Why not either automate the membership tally or entrust somebody to do it? Sorry Saty, we don't all agree with you on this! ☹️
  13. I am astounded that the MFC website still shows this as the current membership! Are there no staff in the MFC office for the last three weeks or are people joining other Clubs?
  14. Be great to see Trengove back in the MFC top 22 and hold his spot. People too quickly forget that he was considered on par with $cully, who is top 22 with GWS and less deserving as a person IMHO!
  15. Ever considering adopting anonymity on here and changing your name to that of past champion player Don Williams?

Good idea. How do I go about it?

I thought that I might leave that to you D. Williams?

  16. Maybe our three recruits from Brighton Grammar are going to play a big part in our fortunes this year? Thank you Robert Shaw for Hunt, Salem and Watts!
  17. Let's hope that his good mate ANB can similarly "break-out" this year!
  18. Text below is pasted from the National Gallery of Australia website (about the picture): 'An effect is only momentary ... it has been the object of the artists to render faithfully, and thus obtain first records of effects widely differing, and often of very fleeting character'. 9 by 5 impression exhibition catalogue, 1889 'The national game' was exhibited in the influential '9 by 5 impression exhibition' held at Buxton's Gallery in Swanston Street, Melbourne, in August 1889. The exhibition included paintings that would normally have been considered preliminary sketches for larger works and consequently unsuitable for public exhibition. It proved to be central to the development of the Heidelberg school of Australian 'impressionism', a turning point in the history of Australian landscape painting. It would be interesting if Streeton had of painted a larger work from this image.

  20. Good article! I would love to see Weideman, Hogan and Watts as the core of our forward structure (with Garlett, Petracca and Kent adding another 6-8 goals each week)!
  21. Loving all the rankings. Again we are under the radar so presumably some attractive odds against us making the eight, top four or GF!
  22. Personally I would love to play at Punt Road, but it has been well-documented by numerous Demonlanders why each of the Grounds that you mentioned are not possible (nor Toorak Park, Brighton, Port Melbourne and other suggestions over the year)! The Casey alignment is showing more positives each successive year and I am sure Jackson and the Board wouldn't have committed us long-term within being confident of this.
  23. Not sure that I agree with his pessimism and (from my read of the training reports) he has under-rated Hogan! I disagree with his prediction that we will finish ninth (Richmond's spot) and that Petracca is our sole "gem", although his assessments of some of our opposition teams are incisive! Aside from my comments above, the article was a good summary, and at least he hasn't raised unreasonable expectations on us.
  24. Interesting discussion with my niece on Christmas Eve (her and her partner are Melbourne barrackers, yet I have not been able to convince her to join or to enrol her her eldest toddler)! She spoke about Collingwood FC's Netball Team and the fact that she followed a lot of their player's, some of whom were recently poached from the Melbourne Vixens. She also mentioned that a number of the netball teams around Australia were directly aligned to other AFL and NRL teams, yet the Melbourne Vixens were not. She thought that it would be very positive and consistent with our Women's AFL Team, if we aligned with the Melbourne Vixens, thereby increasing our appeal to many women who followed both codes. Food for thought as we seek a competive edge in a city with nine AFL teams.
  25. Suggestion over dinner with my brother > Gawn as Full Forward, Spencer in the Ruck. By reading the training reports, maybe not a stupid idea.
