Dees supporters the most passionate (by far)
CBDees replied to needafullback's topic in Melbourne Demons
I love reading these posts! A MCC member for fifty years and an MFC member for nearly as long, there is nothing as uplifting as reading these posts! This year should be inspiring yet I'm speaking at a conference in late September. Taking it one week at a time, I am planning to return during the last week in September to watch our first "Twilight Grand Final"! -
We still need to catch the KANGAS and SAINTS!
-
LH why are you surprised? All of Melbourne's list is under-rated except for Max Gawn. I am happiest that way!
-
I have never heard of Garlett as a full-back (nor have I heard of Garland as a crumber in the forward pocket)! Lucky for us it is Garland who is injured and our backline is full strength for Round One with Garlett getting through today's practice match!
-
Who's talking about Lance Franklin contracts? I am sure that they would be over the moon if they were all on a rookie wage!
-
Except the AFL won't let us upgrade a rookie for some reason same as last year we could not replace Melksham! (It's a handicap not being Essendon or Collingwood when you are a Melbourne-based Club!)
-
It seems crazy that the eight teams all have to disband for ten months immediately after the GF next week and go back and play suburban football with amateur coaches and no exposure. Surely the competition could continue in the background without being too much of a threat by fragmenting the support base and thereby allowing the girls (like Daisy) to become professional. Personally, I enjoy watching the girls and I am sure that they would grow the code and grow the sponsorship to pay their own way!
-
I agree that it was a ripper article but enhanced by the video highlights. The difference between Round 1 and Round 6 is amazing (like watching two different codes), especially Newman's goal for the Dees. Back on topic, it is lovely that the girls feel part of the Club because they are great to watch and will garner lots of converts to the game. No wonder they have been so readily embraced by the Men's team, coached and support staff. If we get through today to the GF, I am sure that our girls have the skills and grit to pull of the Premiership!

The call from players made a difference with membership now over 35K! (700 up on yesterday)
-
It is actually week 2 and we are 1700 ahead of last year.
-
We lost (but the girls had a gutsy victory) so we are now 34,310 at the end of week two March. Still tracking well!
-
And Hullett, Hannan and Weideman (if they all play)!

Melbourne's Communication and Online
CBDees replied to Straight Sets Simon's topic in Melbourne Demons
I hear what you say DC but the fact is that the NT Government have chosen to sponsor us and when NT was part of South Aussie, football hadn't been invented. With past stars such as Aussie, Matthew Whelan and Aaron Davey, we should be able to lever off that properly! -

Particularly bad that we couldn't have done more for our NT sponsors! Reading the reviews of the AFLW's game in Darwin on the weekend when our girls had an almighty victory against Adelaide, it was disconcerting to read that the majority of those at the ground were supporting the Crows. The NT Government must have been disappointed that our message/marketing has had little impact on awareness and support amongst the local populace! We should be the team backed by the local population and have the strongest support (read membership numbers) out of all the AFL Clubs: It is not as though they don't follow AFL up there! Massive indictment on our marketing division! -
Some nice passages on the highlights! Any stats etc available on the match yet?

Whilst I suspect the Goodwin has a good relationship with most players (judging from listening to a glowing endorsement from Tommy Mac the other day), I agree fully with Dante above! Jack has given a lot to the MFC since he was recruited as No. 2 in the draft, and certainly deserved to be given a chance to demonstrate his contribution post recovery. It was not just Goodwin's insensitivity in the humiliating way he named him and then flicked him, but the perception that this has created within the MFC family and the wider Football Community!

33795 at the end of the first week in March. This is well up on last year. 7,750 up on the same week, five years ago!

JLT Round 4, Thursday 9th March - West Coast at Subiaco
CBDees replied to McQueen's topic in Melbourne Demons
For the third time they have named Jack Trengove on the extended list. It would be nice to give him a run this match if only to confirm whether he remains a genuine part of our future (success)! -
I am happy to go with fifth also. I am sure that our team will not get rolled by Carlton this year and be committed to not losing to the Saints or Kangas!
-
To have Kent, Vince and Hibberd ahead of Lewis, Oliver, Brayshaw, Hogan and Salem is seriously undervaluing our list. IMO, neither Salem nor Stretch are below average either.
-
Also 3000 up on 2016 and 6000 up on 2015!
-
Good table companions WJ!?
-
Corrected! ?(My fingers got tangled.)

I fully agree with this! Not only Richmond/Hawthorn/Geelong but also Bombers/Kangas/Saints! We have to move swiftly to dominate this League before the other six Victorian teams come snapping at our heels! (BTW> 33,520 members and climbing!) p.s. I also agree with Binman regarding the advantages of an alliance with the Melbourne Vixens!
