I only wish that the AFL would play both verses. Most Dees supporters have never heard the second verse sung and the younger generation can barely remember the first verse, so rarely is it sung these days! PS I heard Mike's song today and like it [nothing wrong with having two Club songs just in case in a few years we get sick of hearing the same one sung week after week]!

Can somebody enlighten me why we are scheduled to play North at Etihad as a 'Melbourne' home game [whilst Collingwood plays GWS the same afternoon at the MCG}? Surely they don't beleive that the Pies game is going to pull the crowds likely to put a strain on Etihad! If the AFL was genuine in their desire to help us, surely they could swap games so that we got a genuine home ground adavantage and the maximum number of Dees supporters can enjoy the facilities of the "G" whilst we watch Craig weave his magic!

We left them them with Hogan though so it will be up to him to turn things around if he wants a run with Melbourne next year!

Melbourne v Brisbane Lions Demonland Player of the Year - round 17

Interesting team line-up on the AFL App. Seems a better structure than that in this morning's papers (Kent is the Sub.).

What has happenned to Steph Martin?
-
Do you think that he can turn Davis into another Gilbee?
-
I must say that our team this week seems as good as we can muster, given Clark's injury and Hogan's ineligibilty. Notwithstanding the fact that we will be pursuing mids in the trade and draft periods, our perfomance for the remainder of the year should be a good pointer for 2014.

Let us see if Craig surprises us on this score!

Relax BB59 it is bastardisation not bastardization (USA spelling). Spellcheck always offers up American spelling when you set it to English (Australian). You have to set it to English (UK) otherwise if defaults to English (US).

I don't see what mention of Greg Sword has to do with the Alan Stockdale thread apart from those who continally wish to push their political prejudices into the forum (as they did with Kennett). Both Greg Sword AM and Alan Stockdale have served on previous boards and may have even served at the same time. Both are first and foremost passionate demons supporters and Demonlanders should get their blinkers off and look at their skill set rather than their politics. Sword was a past National President of the Labor Party and today is the CEO of LUCRF Super and a member of the Melbourne Foundation. Don't discount anybody on either side of politics if they are going to be best for the job. (Personally i am still attracted to the Kennett platform, partly because of AD's opposition!)

Put simply, if he hadn't played last week our score would have been two goals for four quarters. It was bad enough to get ourselves into the record book for a record low inside 50s [19] without us kicking our lowest score as well!

The $2.5Million+ rescue package from the AFL to MFC featuring in this morning's news report should focus Roos if nothing else can. The news report said that it might be announced as early as today.

How many delistings will we have? Is it too early to speculate?
CBDees replied to Alf Stewart's topic in Melbourne Demons
Why on earth tade Watts after he has announced that he wishes to stay? Not only does it not send a positive message to the rest of the playing group but it confirms to the AFL that we have little regard for No. 1 Draft picks and consequently would most likely waste any PP that they were contemplating! -
Pleased that somebody agrees that we should keep Davey who is a good leader, loyal Clubman and still can produce some exciting goals. Not sure that we should disqualify overselves from the pre-season draft again as that is the reason that we missed on Hannath, despite taking him to Darwin.
-
Why would it be Byrnes swansong? If you are talking about statistics, he scored half our total goals yesterday!
-
With the exception of Couch! Does that mean that he is a guaranteed starter in the ones?
-
Maybe the MCC should pick him up [i.e. poach him from Richmond]? After all, we are both sporting divisions of the MCC now that we have re-aligned.
-
If it is a 'keep Colin campaign' then it seems to be working. Let us now focus on them both reaching their 200th game.
-
The last chance for them to win a Coleman (before Hogan hits his straps)!
-
I hardly think that it is being "too conservative" to try and retain the semblance of a good forwardline and a good backline, especially when our forwardline in particular has been beset by injuries in past years. Surely our recruiting team can secure a midfielder with our low draft picks, coupled trading from the remainder of our list. Let us look how Viney goes in the remainder of of the year, together with Matt Jones and the re-energised Sylvia, before when plan to cull the much-needed depth from pour forwardline!
-
I agree. Keep Dawes and also keep Clark, Hogan, Watts, Fitzy and Howe. With our luck with injuries, I feel very confident going into 2014 with options in our forward line. Despite the widely acknowledged need to bolster our midfield, it should not be acheived by trading off the key personnel in our forward and backlines.
-
I like the way that you have gentrified Hawthorn be adding an 'e' on the end. Nice touch!

Followed by Fitzy, Garland and Grimes.
