  1. For a start he was slow, didn't chase and was very unimpressive in his early games. Now N. Jones is a Superstar [and our best midfielder along with young Viney] and Fitzy could well be likewise as a forward.
  2. Boyd should come into our calculations irregardless [if we get the chance]. Clark and Dawes have hardly been on the park this year and Watts has not committed. Our fantastic forward depth is a myth. Come draft time, we should select the best player available and if that payer stands head and shoulders above the pack we should get him even if he isn't a midfield. We will be better in the midfield next year with Viney, Jones and Toumpas as a basis.
  3. It was lovely to wake up to hear the Viney rising star nomination on this morning's radio news! This is the start of a stellar career for Viney and I predict a Brownlow Medal will follow in five years, as Ablett's star fades!
  4. Aaron was far from our worst today (and rarely is). I like the lad! He adds excitement when we bring him on.
  5. As regards relying on Clark, Dawes and Hogan, you are talking about two champions who we are having difficulty even getting onto the paddock and a big kid who is yet to play AFL. I wouldn't be in a hurry to trade off an improving No. 1 draft pick who is a good kick for goals and has a huge upside. Our forward depth is not as deep as many Demonlanders like to make out!
  6. Adams & Boyd! (Adopt a long-term view of multiple Finals appearances by picking up Boyd as well. We want to have the list that the other clubs envy rather than the reverse situation as at present!)
  7. As usual > Well reported! Thanks KC.
  8. You may get your wish as this morning's 3AW Rumour File predicted that the announcement of Eade was imminent! (Monday 12 August 2013 refers)
  9. In the National Draft they got it very right: Dean Terlich, Matt Jones & Dean Kent, all from relatively late picks
  10. THEY DIDN'T DO TOO WELL TODAY PLAYING WITHOUT DRUGS!
  11. Not sure that Scully was ever anything but a bogan but some of us look at it differently. Let us re-look at Trenners next year after a full pre-season and after un-burdening himself of the captaincy. I am quietly confident that he will prove a more valueable elite player than Scully in the longterm and hi is already a much better character
  12. The positive was that we were ahead in all the possession stats [except tackles] for the first time this season.
  13. At least Davey came on as a sub in the last quarter and had five disposals including soccering a goal. Bit of a contrast with Byrnes who played four quarters and kicked 5.1. 1.5!
  14. As of 1.00pm Saturday, the AFL App still has Pederson in and Strauss as emergency.
  15. Considering Scott Thompson left us of his own free violition and we delisted Bassett, do you seriously consider either of them would be keen to return to the MFC in our current dysfunctional state?
  16. Why not Todd Viney as the Midfield coach? With our parlous situation, maybe it is time to introduce multi-skilling or using some of our Football Depatment in positions where they actually have had some real-life experience! He didn't do a bad job in raising his own son and turning him into a gun midfielder!
  17. Not problems with me!
  18. Not keen on trading out Fitzy or Watts but like the idea of taking Boyd if we get a priority pick. Surely we can trade for Taylor Adams with pick 3 and offer him a good package without deleting our stocks by shedding the few existing players who represent an upside once we get a new coaching structure into place! No need to trade pick 1 [one] if we get as Boyd is better playing for us than playing against us!
  19. Why on earth make anyone captain with four games left to play in 2013? Possibly Jones should be captain in 2014 and maybe young Viney could come onto the leadership team. I know that Frosty Demon and others like to think that Nathan Jones was a superstar from Game 1 with the Demons but the reality was that he wasn't in the e\arly games I watched, he was too slow, did not tackle, did not make second attempts and projected as lazy. In the first year I would of dropped Jones however now he is arguably the best player on our list and an inspiration to the whole list. As for delisting Trenners, Grimes, Watts, etc,, history will judge that they will be in the core of our team when we have a new coaching structure, captain and a few inspired selections to boost our midfield woes.
  20. The closest ground to the MCG which is in the City of Melbourne is also in Yarra Park. It is called the Richmond ground. Why can't we share with them? Everybody shares the "G" with us!
  21. What was wrong with the supposed facilities at AAMI Park serving this purpose. Being a short walk from the "G" it would be perfect to have a social facility there. Alternativley why can't we have a working bee with some cans of red and blue paint and then share with Richmond which is closer still?
  22. We have had a Rabbi! What does it matter?
  23. Don't everybody assume that Buddy is off to GWS. Sydney with Bolton, Mumford and others retiring may well outbid them and can also offer the realistic chance of a AFL Premiership thrown in!
  24. I completely agree with the idea of taking Boyd if he is ours to select as he is clearly the best available. The only way we get him is if we either finish bottom and get No. 1 pick or we get a priority pick ahead of GWS. Either way we will also have pick No. 1 or No. 2 to trade for a midfielder and surely with Jones and Viney and Toumpas with another pre-season behind them we have the skeleton for a midfield. We also will have first pick in both the pre-season and rookie drafts (unless we clog up our list with recycled players at the tail-end of their careers) and miss out like we did last year with Hannath (who wasn't a midfilder by the way). Our spine has potential and even moreso should we have Boyd and Hogan as forwards. After all GWS with Cameron and their young midfield illustrates that we don't have to target mid-career players..
  25. I don't think Magner is eligble, however let us not confuse VFL standard players with AFL standard players as he has been promoted previously and found wanting. Nice to see you so confident about McKenzie coming back in though I am not so sure that he is the best option for Ablett.
