  1. Whilst good for Craig it is a shame to see him leave the Demons [notwithstanding releiving us of his salary for next year]. He has been a good influence and ambassador for the Club in his time here and I hope that should he not get Brisbane, that Roos would find an ongoing role for him (in lieu of Lynch). The other person who i want to see stay is Todd Viney and i similarly hope that Roos can retain him in a meaningful role.
  2. After reading the argument in the article above and reviewing the comparisons I am absolutely committed to us taking Boyd if we get PP1 and retaining Hogan. To have the best two young forwards in the AFL entering our team in the one year will be an exciting start for us in 2014, particularly with Roos coming on board as coach. (The return of Clark & Dawes are bonuses). It should not only attract a raft of sponsors and boost membership but it will also serve to attract top-level midfielders to Melbourne, filling our biggest gap. Also we should be able to acheive that through pick 3, our second round pick, salary cap flexibility and astute trading and not have to resort to trading Watts, Frawley, Garland or any other of our key players. I was in the minority that picked the Dees to acheive a top 8 finish as early as next year under Roos and i have a feeling that it will indeed prove to be the case. For those still doubting having Hogan and Boyd (c.f. Hogan or Boyd) in the one team, rember Hawthorn when they drafted Roughhead and Franklin in the one year. it doesn't seem to have effected their preformance grabbing the top two power forwards! p.s. For the statisticians who post that Franklin and Roughead weren't drafted in the one year, I stand to be corrected but i am siure that it was not far apart.
  3. If Carlton is seeking a new midfield coach, does that mean that they don't want Brad Green next year? (Carlton development coach appointed in 2-12 but foccussed on the midfield?)
  4. Personally i am hoping for a top eight position in 2014. if Port Adelaide did it with Hinkley, then there is no reason why we cannot do it with Roos as we are not dramaically further behind than they were last year [and IMO are slightly ahead going into the draft/trade periods].
  5. Just hope that Todd Viney is retained as list mananger rather than the rumour of Alliaster Lynch. Of all the old guard Todd Viney is the last one I would like to see as a casualty of Roos coming in [and in fact I think that he can do the job better].
  6. As a minimum I would hope of getting Adams plus pick No. 10 but frankly I would prefer to use pick 2 on either Boyd or the best midfielder available and hope to entice Adams with $$$$ and the lure of Roos!
  7. I hope that you would have second thought on that after watching McDonalds run out of the backline last Sunday!
  8. I think that you have just about pinned it. Your scenario seems logical and the only question is whether they want to retain Sellar for depth however I suspect that you may be on the mark as a spot on the list may be more valuable in a rebuild. Not sure how many years jamar has left in him either, especially with Spencer and Gawn in the wings?
  9. With three retirements, as i understand we are no obligation to the AFL to delist anybody it is merely what Roos and the recruiting panel feel we can secure through trade, free agancy and the draft who may improve the list. Having said that, most of the suggestions made by Demonlanders appear on the mark.
  10. I hope that the article in this morning's Melbourne Age by Jake Niall gets a few people excited as the author for one is certainly optimistic and the bookmakers have Roos at shorter odds than Black Caviar! The Quest is History.
  11. Actually if Boyd was still there, I would have no objection of picking him up instead of Aish with our No. 2 pick [in addition to trading for Taylor Adams with our second round pick No. 20]. Also not sure that Sylvia will leave and still see a role for him [ahead of Greenwood].
  12. Just proves that it is not only in Rugby Union that the Welsh can excell!
  13. Actually Terlich, Matty Jones and Kent can all hold their heads high. All were relatively late picks and have performed well above expectations of most. They should feature somewhere on the night despite Nathan, Garland and Sylvia picking up the silverware!
  14. A bit worrying looking at the bottom three rankings: 3. Mark Jamar 2. Rohan Bail Neville Jetta 1. Sam Blease particularly as these include our No.1 All-Australian ruckman, a guy that played last Saturday (Jetta) and two blokes (Jamar and Blease) that Roos had question marks against but still included in his 'hypothetical' starting 22 in 2014.
  15. FT's suggestion has some merit but ultimately it will be up to Roos and the recruiting department to make the call.
  16. Apart from his four goals from five kicks yesterday, Jack also laid some good tackles and second efforts. I hope that his first year under Roos has everybody who wanted to trade him eating humble pie!
  17. from 5 kicks!!!!!!!
  18. Whilst the Sydney list may have been handy, ours is not so shabby [especially when we get Clark and Hogan next year]. Our problem is 20% list (especially midfielders) and 80% coaching and game plan, which is the precise reason we have targetted him. At least give PJ and the Board some credit for having thought this one through!
  19. Well with Dawes a late withdrawal yesteday, thank God for Watts being there and not having to rely on Sellars. Watts tally of four goals from five kicks demonstrated his importance to our team [and the fallacy that we have an over-abundance of elite forwards and backmen].
  20. Tapscott- Bettter than expected Joeboy I feel that you are being a bit unfair on both Trengove and Viney who didn't let up all day
  21. Who's a Dees supporter? Buddy?
  22. With the lead that the Suns have over GWS at the moment, no matter what the result for us today our ladder position will remain second last.
  23. He is a wingman in Roos hypothetical starting 22 [capable of playing forward or back]. In ohter words, Roos rates him as an integral part of his optimum midfield strategy.
  24. MELBOURNE under Roos B: Frawley Garland Terlich HB: Grimes McDonald Clisby C: Blease? Toumpas Jones Watts HF: Sylvia Dawes Hogan F: Boyd Clark Howe R: Jamar? Gawn Trengove Viney I/C: Fitzpatrick?, Taylor Adams, Michael Evans, (Traded/drafted) gun midfielder italics = current list red = traded or drafted
  25. Actually on paper our team looks capable of winning [but then again, that has been the tease all season]!
