Actually we saw very little of Kelvin Templeton [as he broke down as soon as he arrived from the doggies] but we did see a lot of the former Collingwood Captain who we recruited at the same time. Peter Moore was a champion for us!

The clean out continues! Satterley, Nichol and Greaves all Gawn!
CBDees replied to cooko's topic in Melbourne Demons
Happy for Rawlings to stay as most reports on him seemed positive. The exciting thing is that it allows even more fresh ideas come into the Club [that is if Roos decides to fill the secondary roles of line development coaches]. -
I am with D26 and his theory. Provided we can pull some rabbits [or midfielders] out of the hat in this year's trade/draft/free-agency period and Clark/Dawes both have an injury-free year, then I, for one, am confident that we will play finals next year.

I am in full agreement but happy to see the other 16 teams focus on Martin whilst Roos and Viney work out a strategy to get David Swallow, Luke Shuey, Rory Sloane, Taylor Adams whilst they are all distracted.
-
Sounds plausible but has Brisbane indicated that they would swap pick 18 for Doherty? [Also wouldn't it be pick 17 since Adelaide are excluded from the first round?]

It is one thing about Roos installing people who are familair with his style and culture and i am sure that most Demonlanders will applaud that and see the logic. What will be the ongoing role for Todd Viney however and the remmants of a proud Melbourne Culture? Can they be successfully meshed?

B: Clisby TMac Frawley HB: Terlich Garland Grimes M: Swallow Adams Trengove HF: Sylvia Dawes Watts F: Hogan Clark Howe Foll: Gawn Viney N Jones Bench: Kent Cross Toumpas Sub: Matt Jones Emergencies: Fitzpatrick, McKenzie, Evans

Not sure why you couldn't slot your favourite player (Viney) into such a talent-filled midfield?
-
Not only is Watts likely on the wing, but Clark and Dawes are yet to be seen in the same line-up and this may not change, allowing Fitpatrick to get more than the occassional game, during the extensive period during which they seem to be injured. Maybe we could draft Boyd if we get a priority pick and send Clark to the backline, be kind of nice to have the two tops young forwards in our team (as it seems to have worked for Hawthorn)?

GREED AND ALTRUISM RULES THE AFL OVER DRAFT ASSISTANCE
CBDees replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
This was such a well-argued post that it should be sent directly to Demitriou's personal email and copied to all the major newspapers. The fact that none of them are likely to publish the facts or Demitriou take onboard the argument is secondary. We will have put them on notice that we are up to their machiavellian ways! Perhaps we could take out an advertorial in the Melbourne Press? -
Tigerland might have a lazy $500000 by the sounds of things.
-
Martin move best for Richmond After reading the Carro article you would have to agree with Ignition who says we should target Rockliff over Martin. Let's focus on adding Cross and Swallow to our midfield and keep our culture relatively intact!
-
What a complicated drawn-out six-week saga that is. No wonder many players claim to want to be a one-club player!

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DANIEL CROSS
CBDees replied to MadAsHell's topic in Melbourne Demons
We could do a lot worse than go into next year with Martin, Cross, N. Jones, Sylvia, (& Swallow or Adams?) and Viney all in the midfield. Even if we took Cross for a year, he can be replaced with an improved Trengove, Toumpas and M. Jones in 2015. p.s. i forgot about Jordie! Maybe we can squeeze in a game for him also next year? -
When Do We Find Out About the Priority Pick?
CBDees replied to Grimseyisgod's topic in Melbourne Demons
Why do GWS want Boyd? They look like their FF might be named 'All-Australian'! -
I am sure Roos has factored in his social associations and his endurance and would not be considering him if he had not sought insurance/assurance to cover things. If we can acheive it and retain pick 2 [by not losing it in a trade] then we should consider. The only pick ahead of us is GWS and they have are likely to instead focus on key position players. We could be even cleverer and asking him to wait until the Pre-season draft so that we retain pick 2 in the National Draft.
-
Is he under contract to Richmond FC? (i.e. How much say do they get if he wants to come to us for cash?) Maybe the AFL get give RFC a draft pick like they did to GWS when we lost Scully chasing the cash!
-
It was a massive mistake last year not leaving ourselves a pick in the pre-season draft and arrogently assuming that we could pick up Hannath in the rookie draft. We had a low pick in every draft [and will again this year] so it was inexcusable missing out on Hannath [particulaly after taking him to Darwin naively assuming everybody would leave him for us]. On another matter, what is the liklihood of the Casey Scorpions picking up Sellar etc if they don't get drafted by an AFL club? It seems that it might help their depth especially when they have lost Hogan as a fey position player next year!
-
I too defer to the master. Can we have Simpson as 'Senior assistant' and Kirk as midfield?
-
Who will be worse next year? Saints or us?
CBDees replied to Norm Smith's Curse's topic in Melbourne Demons
Including Nick Del Santo. Whereas none of our MVPs are tipped to depart now that Roos is on board. -
Maybe because Roos might convince him that we will be top 8 in 2015!

Who will be worse next year? Saints or us?
CBDees replied to Norm Smith's Curse's topic in Melbourne Demons
There is no question that we will perform better than the Saints and a number of other teams, particularly with the methodical way we have been restructuring our football department over the last six months and the rebuild of our list which will take place under Roos. -
Must get a legit crumbing forward this free agency period

Deeman, if you can get away with having a team of 23 players [and no objection from the ALF or the 17 other Clubs] then i am all for it. Having 5 interchange is a great idea and will certainly give us an edge!
