I would be amazed if somebody pulled that off, particularly given Richmond's interest.

I am with maarkkc! Get him for free in the pre-season draft with our second pick, sign up Cross, before the trades and main draft and then go for the best midfielders we can get. If we do this will will acheive a massive onfield improvement.
-
Frankly if we had a mid to late first rounder i would rather use it on a player (like young Jones) who can be around for a decade in the midfield.
-
Do you think that we could trade Jordie for Ablett? I'd like to see that!
-
I hope that he stays as he is hard at it and capable of turning games. Only wish that we would see more of it! Roos stated that he wants it and i trust his judgement. I think that he will stay and redeem himself in the eyes of many.
-
Yes but I am confident that the three other Clubs in the hypothetical wouldn't!

Everybody still seems to be factoring getting a pick for Sylvia notwithstanding the fact that Roos expressively announced that him and Watts were part of his plan for Melbourne. Are we suggesting that our football judgement is sounger than Roos or that Sylvia has no ego or love for the jumper to want to stay with his teamates under Roos (as did Watts)?

Kyle Cheney has been getting a bit of a run with Hawthorn. Not sure why we delsited him the previous year as there were worse on our list?
-
Is he an option to replace Davey in the forward pocket or do we use him for his run and tank?
-
As everybody agrees, he was a great clubman and a great leader and leading mark but he could never kick. Lets hope that he is an understudy because I am sure that he has nothing to impart to Dawes, Clark, & Co.

Well let us hope that Captain Kirk displays some Enterprise when he makes the annual Star Trek to the AFL National Draft!

When Do We Find Out About the Priority Pick?
CBDees replied to Grimseyisgod's topic in Melbourne Demons
I am never going to barrack for the AFL again! -
I am not sure about Miller?
-
I would give him more for ticker but it bodes well that you score him 9/10 for the other qualities as that in itself makes him elite in the AFL>
-
Monkhouse for Collingwood also had no. 1 on his back but that was only because of their policy of having their players wear their IQ on their jumpers.
-
I just hope that he doesn't impart his style of play onto the Melbourne forward line. Whenever Brad ended up with the ball in his hands after a good lead, he invariably passed it off as he didn't seem to have confidence in roosting it through from 50 metres out!

When Do We Find Out About the Priority Pick?
CBDees replied to Grimseyisgod's topic in Melbourne Demons
Three questions: Aren't they meeting today? What time is their meeting scheduled to finish? I am presuming that it is early enough for them to duck back home or to their hotel room in time to change into a monkey suit for tonight's Brownlow count? -
Picking Aish with pick 2 this year is akin to picking Toumpas last year with pick 3, both on the basis of 'best player available'. I may be mistaken, but I suspect the elite skills of Aish and Toumpas makes them similar sort of [lightly-framed] players. i am not sure whether it is best for MFC in 2014 to have two players with similar traits running around the paddock next year. Better we retain Toumpas [who has an extra year under his belt] and go for somebody with a bit of grunt this year.

THE DRAFT: TAC CUP FUTURE STARS ROLLING DRAFT
CBDees replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
The article in the Age this morning was pretty adamant that we would not get awarded a PP when the Commission meets today. I hope that your sources are more reliable that those of all the football journalists! -
When Do We Find Out About the Priority Pick?
CBDees replied to Grimseyisgod's topic in Melbourne Demons
This morning's Age reports that we would not be given PP when the Commission meets today and also that we will not have to pay back the $2.7M assistance. Maybe this is a phyriric victory although Tom Boyd would be nice to line up alongside Hogan next year. No mention of the $500,000 tanking penalty and whether we still have to fork that out? -
Today's Hun has Zac predicted as a first round pick! That creates a dillema for us unless we get a PP.

Fair point however how much is him and how much is his knuckehead manager. He appears the sort of guy who is easily-led and incapable of making his own lifestyle decisions (as evidenced by choosing to tatoo his neck)>
-
Judging by the growing string of Clubs publicly declaring themselves not interested in Martin and the stand-off between his knucklehead manager and RFC, maybe we should rethink conjuring up a deal. If we thought of a fair package for him, maybe we can convince him to nominate for the pre-season draft, where we will be in pole-position to snap him up (especially in the light of GWS's official statement that they are not interested). Injecting him into our midfield without needing to trade or use a first-round draft pick has immense appeal. I am sure that Roos could devise a management plan to overcome any possible cultural differences between him and the rest of the list. If we can entice Martin and Cross on board, and still have pick 2 [and a possible PP], then we are starting the draft/trade process from a good basis. Also knowing that our midfield already contains Martin Cross, Jones, Viney and Toumpas may entice other midfielders to show interest, particularly when we can also offer a strong forward and backline structure and an A-List Coach in Roos.

Good idea however not sure that Mrs Roos may agree. Whatever it takes!.
