  1. Correct. This policy has no effect on wealthy people as they don't receive the age pension anyway. Even more staggering, it will actually LIMIT the choices people have. For example: You have a pension account with company A now. It's fine and you're happy. But 3 years down the track, you see that the admin has turned to crap and the returns are horrible. You want to roll over you funds to Company B. Normally, this would be fine. Under the proposed laws though, rolling to a new account with a new company constitutes a new pension, which means you'll be subject to the new deeming rules and your centrelink age pension may reduce. All because you don't like Company A any more. The legislation does not allow the grandfathering of the old deeming rules to carry over when you change providers, even if the account is the same amount. It's a really silly oversight that will force people to retain their current (possibly inferior) pension products simply to retain their deeming rules. Worth noting that if you don't receive the age pension (ie have over $1.1m in assets excluding your home), you will be able to move to whatever product you like. Wealthy people will retain their right to chose their financial products, where the poorer amongst us have to take into account reduction in centrelink pension income vs the better product. This policy will save the government on paying out some age pensions. Good for the government, but bad if you happen to be ON the age pension. The policy won't even let someone start a transition-to-retirement pension now to lock in the rules and roll into full pension later. They say the full pension counts as a new account and therefore the rules will not be grandfathered. This is an extraordinarily important issue that the media just hasn't given much attention to. I hope that they do before 1 Jan 2015. I haven't heard of any changes to the originally proposed legislation since my OP, but I'll update if I hear more.
  2. Nasher's Shower.
  3. Leagues aren't open yet. Just register on the google sheet and with the demonland group. League invites will go out when we're closer to the season opening.
  4. Unfortunately they haven't linked 2013 and 2014 logins so we can check. Part of the 'improvements' I guess. If you can't find it, that's ok. Assuming you're not on the list from last year, you'll be in the pool of 'new' players and be allocated as such. Thanks Stephen247 for answering people's SC questions. I need to check this thread more!
  5. I've volunteered to run Demonland's Supercoach comps for 2014. I've managed to source the results (that were available) from last year and sorted them into 2 leagues for this year. If you'd like to play in 2014, this what you need to do: If your name is on one of the lists below: 1 - Visit the Demonland Supercoach 2014 Registration page and put your details in there. 2 - Go to Supercoach and re-register there (your 2013 username and data will have been removed thanks to News Ltd's new system) 3 - Join the Demonand Group = http://supercoach.he...roup?cic=527333 4 - Wait for me to confirm numbers and I will issue you with your league code. If your name is NOT on the list below: 1 - Visit the Demonland Supercoach 2014 Registration page and put your details in there. Leave blank the fields that deal with last year's data. 2 - Go to Supercoach and register. 3 - Join the Demonand Group = http://supercoach.he...roup?cic=527333 4 - Wait for me to confirm numbers and I will issue you with your league code. The link above will allow me to more easily track players throughout the year and into following years. People's usernames and coach names change a lot, this will allow me to know who everyone is. No private data is requested, only Demonland alias, Supercoach name and scores etc. Ideally this sheet will allow me to organise following years' leagues into averages, not just the previous single season's performance. Unfortunately it means you need to fill out one more form than normal, but with the changes that keep happening to the fantasy football world, I feel more comfortable with my own spreadsheet of coaches. A new league will be created if there is sufficient interest. If there are insufficient registrations for the Norm Smith league (which currently consists ONLY of last year's players), I will upgrade from the Stynes list. For example, "howies_hero's24" is the first in line for an upgrade if anyone from last year's Norm Smith does not register. Demonland Norm Smith League 1. Jiagars 51,781 2. The Hallowed Turf 50,455 3. Dom Barrygnon FC 50,364 4. Range Rover 50,153 5. Golden Monkeys 49,901 6. Captain TrenGrimes 49,604 7. Match Fixers 49,466 8. Darkhorse 49,270 9. 6. Confirming Goobers. Put me down for a VS vote as well. It's harder.
  7. And of course it gave us the situation of Richmond being the only club ever to make the finals and lose to 9th. That alone makes it all worthwhile.
  8. You win the internet for today :D
  9. HAHAHAHAHAHA Someone needs to tweet this too him.
  10. He also looks a lot bigger than last year (at least in photos) - check out the arms and shoulders :D
  11. Who was it that said it was going to be 5-0 England? Botham? I hope people are giving him hell. Gonna check if he has a twitter handle
  12. We can only hope. Fortunately Hotspot shield is free and stupidly easy to use. The internet will always be ahead of content holders. Just look at The Age's paywall. Circumvented with "incognito" or "private browsing". A feature BUILT INTO MY BROWSER overcomes a paywall of a national newspaper. Content providers forcing internet pricing up is a stupid idea anyway. The more people have to spend on internet, the less they will have for legitimate purchases. It'll just punish the people who don't pirate anyway - the very behaviours they actually want to illicit.
  13. TV networks have the right to air stupid programming for stupid people. We don't have to like it but we don't have to watch it either. I wasn't even aware of this Lingerie footy thing until this thread. Someone must be watching it, they wouldn't make it if it wasn't going to make them money. I guess it'd be nice to live in a world where this sort of crap isn't economically viable. Until the audience at large grows up, the networks will continue to pander to their baser appetites. Easier to just avoid commercial TV altogether.
  14. The entirety of Demonland next year: Can't wait. Bring it on ASADA. My popcorn is in the microwave.
  15. Ah you meant mouth! lol. Typo was 'month', I thought it was a menstruation joke which I thought was in poor taste. Jumped the gun, sorry.
  16. I with you on a lot of stuff mate, but this one's over the line IMO.
  17. Yes, let us all pine for the days when it was easier to get into a fight in Fitzroy. Strange thing to be nostalgic for - hookers and fights? What a horrible place it must now be. Definitely gone downhill if there's no fights or hookers readily available right?
  18. Yeah he went to school in Berwick, don't know if he's moved since then.
  19. I guess we just hope like hell that Mitch's name doesn't get added to that list.
  20. Hi All, I don't want this to get all political but just a heads up for people receiving (or planning to receive) the age pension. Looks like the government is likely to pass a bill changing the way income is assessed from account based pensions. http://www.humanservices.gov.au/corporate/publications-and-resources/budget/1314/measures/older-australians/29-10728 If you're looking at retiring after 1 Jan 2015 and you need the age pension, you'll want to look at this. Obviously not relevant to the more wealthy amongst us, but worth looking into if you're on the pension or planning to claim it. Worth noting that if you're already on the pension you can keep your current concessional rules under the income test as long as you continuously receive a social security payment. PS - Please don't turn this thread into a political debate over who's legislation this is and who broke what promise or social welfare policy. I figured a lot of the readers here would be in the retirement or pre-retirement age bracket and might find this interesting.
