  1. Sorry mate. I'll do better next time. How bout a JW thread, or maybe Toumpas v Wines? When in doubt, always go with a classic.
  2. From memory he's been brought in half way through the third quarter a few times, so that calculation would be pretty skewed. Is there a place we can get stats on actual game minutes? Might be able to make a more informed statement.
  3. Apparently it's all of our faults.
  4. Interesting. Maybe the whole draft system should be redone, so drafts picks are given out as a result of a rolling net adjusted drafted players position. I'll elaborate: Each player drafted in a say a 5 year period, maybe going back 7 years (so the most recent 2 years are excluded) are ranked based on their current AFL ranking (that thing they keep putting on the AFL website). Then you compare each player to where they were actually drafted. Then you tally up each team's net movement of draft players (up or down). Eg player X was drafted at 34 but is ranked number 2 in the AFL, so that team gets +32 points, where player Y was drafted at pick 4 but is now ranked 150 in the AFL, so thats -146 points. The team with the lowest total number (I assume a large negative number) gets pick number 1, second most gets 2 and so on until the team who has drafted the best gets pick 18. It may be that no one ends up with much of a positive score, but it doesn't matter since they are all relative to each other. Just an idea that came to me after reading your post. Not sure even remotely viable or not, but I thought it was interesting.
  5. Brilliant. I'll pass this on It was definitely there. My brother made a deliberate point of rewinding the game and pausing it just to show me. I agree with you on the reliance thing. Shocked that MFCSS isn't a recognised mental health condition. So many sufferers out there.
  6. As has been stated, he's been played a lot in the forward pocket and frequently as the sub.
  7. Lies. The keyboard shortcut is "Alt-F4"
  8. 2019 or so would be my guess.
  9. lol yeah, but 9th is still more successful than 17th.
  10. Lol, yeah if he uses me as an indication he probably is.
  11. Unfortunately he's a lot bigger than me. Stopped trying to take him on when he threw me through a wall about 10 years back.
  12. He cbf making an account, but he read our thread. Here's his response: "They don't get it. If [censored] like this is acceptable to supporters then the board are happy to accept it. If it was a club like Collingwood or Carlton and the members are feral then the club can't accept it. Supporters of other clubs do not accept mediocrity like Melbourne supporters do. They abuse and are seen as being 'feral', but if you look at the feral supporters their clubs are the most successful for a reason." Relayed from an sms. Don't shoot the messenger.
  13. Lol I'll tell him that :D
  14. Don't remember him sorry
  15. I think his contention is that we are less knowledgeable and therefore hold our players to account over the wrong things or not at all. I'm guessing he bases his views on my family who are mostly dees supporters. There are a lot of threads on here that would prove his contention false, but the fact that he (and maybe lots of others) have this view of us may be something worth considering.
  16. lol Because he lives in space? I'll send him this link and see if he wants to defend his position. I doubt he will though. I was just curious to see what others thought. This is what an outsider thinks of us. I thought it was interesting.
  17. Didn't look ironic to me, although yes that's a possibility.
  18. I watched the GWS with my brother, a north supporter, last week. At one point we saw a Melbourne player in the back line kick the ball directly to Hoskin-Elliot, who just turned around and kicked an easy goal. He said "right there is your biggest problem." I said "what, turnovers?" He said "no, your supporters' REACTION to turnovers and lack of understanding of how bad you are." He then rewound the footage and paused just after the footy went through the sticks. There were a few MFC supports sitting there applauding. He went on to say that any supporter can and probably should applaud an opposition goal when it shows guts or skill etc. However when it's an easy goal as a result of a direct turnover, fans shouldn't be sitting there saying "well done". They should be outraged. They should be baying for blood. There was no skill in what Hoskin-Elliot did. That was an own goal. The implication was that the lack of passion from fans, combined with misunderstandings and tolerance of our glaring flaws means that we don't hold the players accountable. I thought the fans at the end of that game telling the players exactly what we thought of him undermined this point, but that image of those MFC people applauding that goal has stuck with me. Maybe there's some truth to what he's saying and I don't want to admit it. Are we just weak supporters?
  19. I don't understand the Cronulla back dating. I mean, I get that you can backdate a ban, but weren't those players PLAYING during that backdated period? How is that a ban? I is confused.
  20. Or when we handball to a team mate under pressure. I swear I've seen our guys handball to players who are already in the process of being tackled.
  21. Mitch will always be my man crush, and I'd love for him to play for us next year. However if the last few years of footy have taught me anything it's that the MFC is not conducive to one's mental health. I'd rather he played for another team for his own sake than risk relapse in the dead culture mire that our club has become. Having said that, if the current admin manages to improve the environment around the club then it'd be great to have him back. As much as it pains supporters, if he's better served by playing for someone else then it's just something we'll have to live with. His well being has to be the priority over the club. I miss watching him on the field. He was magic.
  22. I find this very interesting: http://www.afl.com.au/news/2014-08-20/do-the-demons-need-a-priority-pick The poll right now shows 33% in favour of the dees getting a PP. When the exact same poll was embedded in the Barrett article this morning, it was sitting at 27%. Quite an upswing. Interesting how an article presenting both sides of an argument produced a 6% increase in favourable votes over Barrett's ill thought out negativity rant.
  23. You know that's just BBO in a costume right? You know how he loves to shake his stick.
