  1. Probably guarding it from Jake King.
  2. When we were denied our PP, they hinted strongly that "exceptional circumstances" would be something like the death of a player or something similarly horrendous. I suppose locating an AFL team in Queensland qualifies.
  3. So we all remember he exists I guess? Edit: Must be so we have a baseline to compare Hogan to. They can show just how good he is
  4. Why did they bother with Heeny? He was injured for too much of the season to win the award. I mean, he's a damn good player, but still, why waste the time?
  5. So bored waiting for the feed to update.
  6. I just can't see it happening. They're crap this year because of injuries. The only reason to give them a PP is because they're Queensland based. Oh wait, yeah I can see it happening.
  7. Interesting. I didn't know AFL contracts could be structured that way.
  8. Meh, I had an ex-MFC player tell me Stretch was at least 2 to 3 years away. Just goes to show even players don't always get the crystal balling right.
  9. Swanny also had a few games where he did SFA. Swan out, Vince in.
  10. Easier to just blame the Melbourne supporters LDC. I'm pretty sure it's in the 'AFL Employees Handbook' given out at every staff induction. Right under 'The AFL do not make mistakes, fans only misinterpret decisions' and 'AFL doubleplus good'.
  11. I heard that too. I remember thinking, 'really? I've seen far far worse than that'. Now if he'd said it at pretty much any point in the Dees v Lions game, that would have been accurate and appropriate.
  12. Interesting isn't it. Big contracts, big pressure to perform, unrelated injuries increases the pressure and bam, exasperated mental health condition. I watched part 1 of the Dan Menzel doco last week. It showed him struggling with depression through his 4 knee recos. Incredible story.
  13. Very true. I honestly rate Hogan as better though.
  14. Just watched the replay last night, apologies if this has been covered in this thread already but one of the commentators said Salem had "second year blues" and was "better in attack than on half-back". Who the hell was this? Do these idiot commentators actually WATCH the footy at all? Salem was injured for most of the year, how the hell can you infer from that that he has second year blues? Also, he's clearly been a much better performer, and much more important to the side, when he's played his role on half-back. One of them also called a possession by Mumford. I lol'd. In other news, I love Hogan. So very, very much.
  15. Hoping that the AFL will make a fairly obvious, straightforward and fair decision is an exercise in futility.
  16. Has to be Hogan. When was the last time there was a KPF who played like him at age 20? Cripps is very good, but Hogan is a rare talent.
  17. Take your red pill this morning DL?
  18. I think it's pretty safe to say that the thread title's contention is pretty safe.
  19. They had a Krak apparently.
  20. I also would have thought we'd have some butchers. I'm actually pretty encouraged by this.
  21. That was Viney. He said something like "If Melbourne don't pick me I'll make them pay on the field" or something. I don't recall Wines making any statements about playing for the Dees other than saying he was really close to Jack.
  22. I'd give the season a pass if I had a reasonable explanation as to why the players chose to give effort one week and chose not to the next. I would be happy with the 6 wins as a sign of improvement if I could point to the games we lost and see consistent effort. But I can't. We're just bad. Fail imho.
  23. Pretty hard to investigate when the evidence has been destroyed.
  24. Hopefully CAS will see right through this. Just because the delays weren't explicitly caused by the players doesn't mean they weren't caused by parties acting on their behalf. This is why the players weren't part of the legal action questioning the legality of the joint AFL/ASADA investigation. If they were, they would be seen to be agitating the process and backdating wouldn't be possible. I would hope that CAS would see that, and say something along the lines of Hird and the EFC's action basically had the net effect of delaying proceedings which advantaged the players and therefore it's as if the players acted in this manner themselves.
